    Looking a little ahead to the draft, the name I like most at 25 right now is Cashius Howell. Hes a little undersized and has short arms but the dude can rush the passer. His quirkiness and bend are impressive.

    Na man, Matt Shaw sucks. Not like he was one the best hitters on this team the second half of the season as a rookie, all while playing a really good 3b. Definitely can't use any of that. TrAdE HiM

    So if the Cubs sign Gallen, that leaves. Horton Boyd Shota Cabrera Gallen Tallion Steele Rea That's 7 legit starters with an 8th guy who is also pretty decent. Not to mention Assad, Wicks and possibly Wiggins. And in that situation, I don't see how someone doesn't get traded. Its just too much of a log jam. If Ricketts is really willing to commit to another 15-20 mil a year type player to this years roster I would almost rather have Jed try to find another bat or high leverage BP arm.

    Idk if they are the second best team in the NL, but I think they are better than last year. I think the starting rotation, bench and bullpen( atleast on paper) are better. I expect the offense to take a step back. I don't expect to see repeat performances from guys like PCA, Kelly and Seiya. I like Bregman, but I agree with others hes not a true replacement of Tucker. Its gonna come down to the bullpen, i think the rotation's going to be really good, especially in the regular season, but the bullpen im not as sure of. If they get solid production there, I think it'll more than make up for a dip in offense.

    I dont want to trade Nico but if you can get someone like Early? That would be tough to turn down.

    Unless Tom is on Jed's nuts to get under the luxury tax i see no reason to trade Nico. If you don't want to give them a big extension after this year, fine, you have Shaw who can be the heir apparent while he's the super utily guy this year. But I think he fits really well on this team and at his current price is still a bargain.

    I like the move alot, solid cost controlled starter with a high ceiling and you didn't have to give up Mo Baller or Wiggins.

    So if this goes through will the Cubs do a six man rotation when Steele comes back? I think it would be a pretty good idea, considering you can give Cabrera and Steele extra rest between starts.
