Yep, and the option to swap first round picks with NY in the 2007 draft too. Holy smokes, that's wonderful. Can you imagine the backlash in NY if the Knicks land the top pick in 2007 and it's the Bulls that end up with Greg Oden? Dream a little dream. stern would find a way to revoke the deal.
  2. wowowowowowowowow maybe my dad will come to a game in peoria with me next summer

bill simmons first realized this, not me, but . . . chad johnson at media day before the superbowl would pretty much be the coolest thing of all time.
  4. as much as it pains me to say it: joe morgan was the superior player that set the offensive standard for all modern 2nd basemen to be judged. Agreed, the position is the key. If Dawson were a 2B and Morgan were an OF, neither of them would have made been listed on the ballot for two years; Dawson because he'd have been a first-year selection, and Morgan because he'd have dropped off with about 7 votes. joe morgan ops+ 132 jim rice ops+ 128
  5. you are
  6. ps- thanks
  7. i doubt it's the same person, im sure all major league teams are required to do a routine drug screening with all new hires.
  8. unless the money is absurd or there's crazy player options/buyouts in play here, i'd MUCH rather have preston wilson for a year than jacque for 3.
  9. thanks a lot, jerk. next time, you say the first line and i'll say the second. you know that's what i would've done for you : (
  10. NFC Wild Card round: #5 Panthers at #4 Giants #6 Redskins at #3 Buccaneers AFC Wild Card round: #5 Jaguars at #4 Patriots #6 Steelers at #3 Bengals NFC Divisional round: Buccaneers at #2 Bears Panthers at #1 Seahawks AFC Divisional round: Patriots at #2 Broncos Steelers at #1 Colts NFC Championship: Buccaneers at Seahawks AFC Championship: Patriots at Colts Super Bowl: Seahawks vs. Patriots im going with the "there is no god" model, which is basically the one where i figure out what will bring me the most personal pain, and pick that way.
  11. Maybe JP can hire the out of work DoPo and he can bring his computer. assuming you spelled it "DoPo" on purpose because you wanted to malign depodesta's character by referring to him as a dope, this is my favorite post of all time.
  12. Adam Greenberg was on his way to becoming one of the game's best fourth outfielders? The fact that not a single team claimed him a few weeks ago strongly suggests otherwise and is telling of how much we (Cubs fans) overvalue our own guys at times. Yep. You've done a nice job in this thread. it really bugs me when people compliment each other for arguing the right points or whatever it is that is happening here.
  13. if we trade for jeremy reed, can't we just keep him and send pierre someplace else? stupid cobs
  14. Soriano's career .500 SLG is 92nd ALL-TIME: http://www.baseball-reference.com/leaders/SLG_career.shtml last year he was 37th in the majors in SLG despite his home park. and he's obp was 309. guess where he ranked in obp among 37? DEAD FREAKING LAST that means he was also last in ops. soriano basically has two skills -- power and speed. he's real good at those, but he's real bad at everything else. i don't know why anyone who understood baseball would make a special effort to go out and get him once you take his contract into account.
  15. musberger's a lot more sure about calling it an incompletion after the ref makes his call
  16. how did all the refs miss that incompletion?
  17. what the hell was that
  18. Second.. NONONONONONONONONO chad johnson is amazing, and everytime they tone him down, theyre making a mistake
  19. I admit, I was rooting for USC that day. I love how Illini students act like they don't have a football program, they just root for another school but it's all about Illini basketball (my cousin, a freshman at Illinois, roots for Michigan come football season). But I have to admit, the worst are folks who root for USC football and UCLA basketball. Talk about front runners. There are a bunch of these folks at both LA schools. i just don't root for anybody in college football.
  20. can we have a poll on this topic? we don't even have to include player b's road splits. I didn't say by most on this board. I know what most on this board think without a poll to show me. There's a world outside this board. a world of people who will see alfonso soriano's name and think "40/40" and choose him despite his huge deficiencies.
  21. i like how you still couldnt bring yourself to actually vote yes i actually forgot to vote CHECK IT NOW you truly are the king of kings

  23. 39) so many cub fans will protest the team's poor play by injecting heroin into their foreheads that attendance will decline and the organization will have no choice but to field a better team.
  24. i like how you still couldnt bring yourself to actually vote yes
  25. i love usc because they beat notre dame. there are tons of cocky notre dame fans who live on my floor at school (side note: one of them, who is actually my friend and lives next door to me, ALSO roots for duke in basketball. and we go to ILLINOIS.) and i like it when bad things happen to them since theyre mostly jerks and bad people. they were all cheering wildly during the usc-nd game, and when usc scored the winning touchdown they all shut up and me and my roommate cheered wildly and it was the best thing that ever happened.
