  1. I never really like Sammy that much while he played and was quite convinced he was juicing long before it was popular to believe so. But I was also quite aware that he was far from the only one. I did understand just how good he was though. I also disliked Sammy for non juicing reasons. But the day he left early in 2004 the whole Cub narrative on him changed....as did many of the fans attitudes towards him. And I thought it was hypocritical. I also believe Rickets is just placating to those fans. I also believe that Sammy needs to get with someone to give him good advice on what to say when a mike is in his face...nothing new there
  2. Absolutely. I really don't mind being bad if the team is bad with young kids getting better. Nothing is worse then being what the Cubs seemed like they were almost all my life up until 2000....older and not good
  3. He is signed thru 2026. I think it was an okay signing. If someone else plays their way into the lineup I don't think Happ's contract is going to be a burden to the team if he plays a reduced role. But it also provides a proven player no one plays themselves into the role.
  4. This reply has nothing to do with Bellinger....just wanted to reminisce that how much of my late teen, early 20s Februarys were spent going to the book store every other day to see if James Baseball Abstract was out yet. I really hope he is still healthy and contributes to baseball discussion for many more years, even though I know he has cut way back in recent years
  5. I think his reality is he has more value with the Cubs then we would get back in a trade, Therefore he is kind of screwed unless he just forces the issue with his play
  6. If I was Harbaugh I would take Minter with me
  7. At the end of the day football is still a physical game. If you tackle well and can run the ball you will be hard to beat. I think thd reason Alabama and Georgia are who they are is because the play this way with high level recruits. Michigan's doesn't recruit at that level but they developed players. I know Washington kept it close because they brought their safties up and Michigan was reluctant to take advantage. But in the end Michigan was just way more physical and it really showed in how many Washington players were getting banged up
  8. Seems to be a lot of "great job representing the B1G" on social media. Wonder how Michigan fans feel about being so supported by other B1G fans?
  9. Plus if PCA doesnt work out, they would retain a certain amount of flexibility. If Belli underperforms, would be hard to fix going forward. I prefer the try and get Belli plan and keep PCA. We have plenty of other trade pieces that are not a for sure GG caliber CFer
  10. Or he could be a very good MLB player for years and Bellinger's hard hit rate is a real thing and he becomes Erik Hosmer at 1b in 2 years making 28 mill a season. I think this is every bit as possible, especially since PCA at minimum is a extremely valuable defensive CF.
  11. the thing that I find the most irritating about the Dodgers is they have a top 10ish system, that allows them to make these type of deals. Its not like they have not traded top 10 talent before, its not like they have drafted high, its not like they haven't had LT penalties. And still a quality system that is regularly productive in one way or another.
  12. Iowa and Louisville were metaphorical then who would actually be playing. My point is there would be teams in the 9-16 range trying to play their way in or stay in
  13. Except next year you may be watching to see if Louisville or Iowa can play their way into the 12 team playoff
  14. I knew this was happening, but how soon everyone forgets Alabama should have lost LAST week to a team that got smoked by New Mexico St
  15. good analysis. I think if this happens Texas and Alabama make it in...Georgia and FSU are left out
  16. Was it Coghlan being reacquired in 2016 that got LaStella sent back down, the beginning of all that drama.
  17. Isn't Oregon a 10 pt favorite
  18. But who gets 1,2 and 3?
  19. If Alabama, Texas, Florida St, Michigan and Washington win....who is getting left out? I think it would be hard to rationalize Georgia in over any of those teams. 3 Unbeaten conference champions and Alabama or Texas? Could they possibly exclude the SEC? I honestly think it would be FSU because the committee has an out(hurt QB) if this happens. If Alabama beats Georgia and Oregon beats Washington 1 loss Oregon, OSU, Georgia and Washington in a "fantasy 4 game playoff" would better than the actual final 4 last year
  20. Northwestern having a chance to be Bowl eligible this week has to be the most under rated huge surprise of this CFB season. Yes I know the B1G west is an embarrassment, but I still would have thought there was no chance that Nwestern would win more then 3 games this season
  21. Has anyone topped that?
  22. Honestly I know it is not how things are done anymore....but if you really believe signs are being stole, HUDDLE, run the play in with a 3rd WR or TE
  23. didnt the NCAA thing become public before they played MSU? The MSU beat down wasn't even as close as the 49-0 score would suggest. I think OSU better not get routed by Michigan again this year, or Day will have a lot of explaining to do to the powers that be
  24. How big of a punishment do you think the B1G is going to allow the NCAA to impose?
