  1. Yeah, Wisdom has been quite good in limited playing time. In July and August, he has a .926 OPS, though in only 55 plate appearances.
  2. Stolen from the EW Facebook group. Painfully accurate.
  3. The Cubs have put themselves into something of a must-win situation to not drop a series to the Royals, particularly with Steele on the mound today. The Royals suck, just put up six runs early and cruise from there.
  4. Yet they still out-hit the Royal and lost, I see. As a person who watches a ton of AL Central baseball, the Royals are underrated in just how horsefeathers bad they are at baseball. Everyone is so focused on the A's that many haven't noticed KC is just as bad.
  5. I was out with the kids, what the hell happened? The Cubs aren't exactly getting off on the right foot during this stretch of cupcake matchups.
  6. I was writing this post in a defense that it's not that weird to wait that long and wrote that the Twins and Brewers haven't had that many elections during that time. Except the Twins had Puckett and Blyleven while the Brewers had Yount and Molitor. But I mean if you add Sosa - which should have happened years ago - that seems far less weird.
  7. Wow, what a win last night and way to salvage a White Sox series that had gone off the rails. I was driving all day so I didn't get to see it live but I bet you all woke up in a pretty good mood this morning! The Brewers are unsurprisingly getting knocked around by the Dodgers who once again look like the Dodgers, putting the Cubs only 2.5 GB and back into the third WC spot.
  8. Game two vs the south siders, hopefully to better results this time.

  10. Now begins a really soft couple of weeks for the Cubs before they face the Brewers. If they're going to gain ground, this is the time.
  11. It's an off-day, what's on your mind? The Cubs are back out of a postseason spot but barely. FG still has them at 53% to make the postseason, which speaks to their remaining strength of schedule.
  12. I agree with all of that. The Brewers have played over their heads a bit, as evidenced by their run diff. But those wins are now banked and if Milwaukee's health continues to hold, they're a better team right now than they were during those banked wins so their previous mediocrity may not represent who they are today. But the SoS favors the Cubs, which should make this a tight race until the end unless one of the two dominates in head-to-head matchups.
  13. They’ve won four in a row. Are those previous five series more indicative of how they’re playing today? It feels like you’re being intentionally obtuse. I can tell all sorts of stories about both the Cubs and Brewers based on where I start counting.
  14. I knew it was bad but seeing it laid out like that...
  15. Just got back to the cabin and checked in to find… woof. Can’t win ‘em all, I guess.
  16. My point is that you started with a series they lost to the Braves, not the series before that they won (or the series before that, which they also won), or the following series, which they won. Hence the arbitrary endpoints. You can almost always control the narrative of a baseball season by using specific endpoints.
  17. No one in the NLC is unstoppable, far from it. But the Brewers have the right pieces in the right places to keep things very competitive through September. Will they win the NLC? *shrugs* I'm not really even sure that matters. The way things are going, I think both the Brewers and Cubs make the postseason.
