  1. As a person who is immersed in many baseball communities across many teams, self-realizing statistical eccentricities is a very VERY rare thing.
  2. I think it's possible the Cubs may offer Bellinger the QO.
  3. Okay so it’s iOS chrome. I’ll try to replicate this locally, thanks.
  4. What does it look like, what are you seeing?
  5. A super-early start today. The Cubs really need this one to secure a series split with the Reds and keep chipping at their elimination number. At this point, are you cheering for the Brewers or the Phillies to win? The Phillies are a lot closer and the difference between the 3/4 seeds are basically non-existent.
  6. Welcome to NSBB, sorry it took so long to get your posts approved! You're clear to post without approval now, BTW.
  7. The ninth inning of game two was a real letdown but in the grand scheme of things, splitting a doubleheader with a team chasing you is a fine outcome.
  8. Even if it's a three run lead, Alzolay should stay in the bullpen. The win expectancy of a three run lead in the ninth is just shy of 97%; that's not a situation you use your closer on a normal day, much less a doubleheader.
  9. My opinion is that if you have four starters going into Spring Training, you need two more.
  10. Yep, the Cubs have the opportunity to basically bury the Reds in the divisional race and seriously hinder their Wild Card chances.
  11. The public research around pitcher innings is definitely at least somewhat speculative and stuff like the Verducci Effect has been discredited loads of times. But there are still questions around young pitcher usage, they're just really nebulous and hard to nail down, at least from the public perspective. I hope teams have a better grasp on it but given the number of pitcher injuries, it's hard to believe they have a good idea how to counter it, either.
  12. I'm looking for something like this. I'll assist with the tech, formatting, imagery, etc. but I need someone to do the legwork and someone who has the institutional knowledge to write something this in-depth. Obviously, we'll pay for it. How much? I'm not sure but at least $100, maybe more depending on length. Anyone up for writing something like this that covers seating, concessions, bars/food outside the stadium, parking/transit, etc? https://twinsdaily.com/minnesota-twins-guides-resources/the-ultimate-fan-guide-to-target-field-r3/
  13. The Cubs are closing out August in a very solid position. three games back of the division and the Brewers and sitting in the second Wild Card position, two games ahead of the Giants and three games behind the Phillies. As a topic starter, who else is concerned about the number of innings Justin Steele might throw at this rate?
  14. A couple of really hard-fought wins by the Cubs. Well done and they’re still in the race.
  15. Wow, FanGraphs has the Cubs' postseason odds at 69.4% now!
  16. That was quite a game last night and certainly lived up to its billing as a pitching duel. Steele went toe-to-toe with Corbin Burnes and ended up with the win, though that pitch count was becoming concerning late in the game. Today isn't must-win but it's close if the Cubs are interested in a division title. Leaving this series down five with 30 to play is a very deep hole.
  17. This should be a great pitcher's duel, which means it will probably end as a 10-9 barnburner.
  18. He probably injured himself during the photoshoot.
  19. One more game versus the Pirates, then it's back home to Wrigley against the Brewers!
  20. Well, I mean... he can be worse than Smyly, we just hope that won't be the case and it's definitely worth trying.
  21. Two games left to make some hay against the Pirates before the Cubs move on to their real test of the final month of the season, the Brewers. If Assad continues to establish himself, that's pretty huge for the Cubs both in the coming weeks but also the coming seasons as a back-of-the-rotation arm.
