  1. Awesome pitching matchup tonight. Shota is Shota and Lopez has looked a lot more like 2023 Pablo over the past several starts.
  2. It wasn't particularly pretty but got out of it.
  3. This is a great place to say hi, welcome to NSBB!
  4. As we near the MLB Trade Deadline at the end of the month, rumors are starting to become more substantial and significant trades are now happening (AJ Puk and Randy Arozarena moved in two separate deals last night). When it comes to the Chicago Cubs, it seems like most of the rumors are swirling around starting pitcher Jameson Taillon. His contract, while not inexpensive, it reasonable and goes through the 2026 season at $18 million per season. The Astros' pitching staff has been devastated by injury and after an awful start to the season, they now find themselves in first place after passing the faltering Mariners in the AL West (a Mariners team that was on the receiving end of the Arozarena deal). At this point, it feels almost inevitable that Taillon will be traded given the amount of interest in him. View full rumor

  6. We'll probably do a hybrid voting system if the farm changes drastically.
  7. I'd put Bellinger at 50/50 opt-out right now. There is still enough time for this to clearly swing one direction or the other. He can easily get more than $50m on the free agent market but why should he? All he has is upside in the contract. No one is going to come close to giving him 2/$50m. He can ride out this contract for one more year, hope for a bounce in 2025, then enter the market the following year.
