  1. I know the Twins were in but no idea what was being offered, even with the inside information we had that offseason.
  2. That was one of the most pathetic attempts at a catch I've ever seen.
  3. We'd like to roll out a weekend feature of past Cubs. The pieces don't need to be long, just about 750-1,000 words. It's a (small) paid role. PM me if you're interested, I'd like to resume exploring this part of Cubs fandom, thought one of you might be interested. An example:
  4. I just checked Savant and he has a 60th percentile sprint speed so he's not slow.
  5. Was Dansby not hustling down the line there? He's not that slow, is he?
  6. In a cooperative report published by The Athletic recently, the Yankees and Rangers have a "noticeable presence" around the Cubs, scouting the team in case the northsiders continue to slip down the standings. While Texas and New York could be (and likely are) scouting multiple Cubs players, the focus appears to be on Cody Bellinger. After a bounceback season in 2023, the CF/1B is having a decent, if unspectacular, 2024 with a 113 OPS+ and 1.1 rWAR. The complicated aspect of any Bellinger trade is his contract: he has a player option for 2025 and 2026 for $27.5 million and $25 million, respectively. It's hard to gauge how teams will value his worth in trade because they have no ability to control the situation: if Bellinger thrives, he likely opts out. If he struggles, the team remains on the hook for at least one more season at a relatively high cost. View full rumor

  8. Makes sense. Not only is this the prime dead-arm portion of the season but moving from a Japanese rotation to an American one is surely taxing.
  9. Looks like the good version of Shota showed up today, just flipped over from the Twins game.
  10. As the season goes along, I'm increasingly convinced the Cubs need to trade away some of their mediocrity. Neither Happ nor Suzuki are *bad* players but when you're trying to contend, it's hard not to have at least one of your corner guys be a monster with the bat.
  11. Me forgetting it was a 1:20 start today and flipping on the TV a few seconds ago:
  12. By the way, I'll be handing off the game threads again, I simply didn't bother for awhile because I know Cubs exhaustion was a real thing over the past six weeks. If they start winning or even being competent again, I'll hand off the game threads.
  13. The Cubs managed to win two entire games in a row. Is this them getting back on track somewhat or just a blip on the radar? In yesterday's game, it was hard to tell if the offense was hitting or the Giants were trying to hand the win to the Cubs. And then there are the final two innings of bullpen "work"...
