  1. It depends on the two players. If the Bulls traded Gordon and Deng plus their two first rounders for Garnett, would the resulting team be any better? Or would it be a borderline playoff team with a superstar? Seems more like the latter to me. Ford's suggested trade of Deng and the two first rounders for Garnett appeals, though. Garnett-Chandler-Noch-Gordon-Hinrich -- yep, that would work. skiles would probably play songaila over garnett in 4th quarters, though.
  2. I'd rather spend it elsewhere. But Gould was pretty crappy, and it doesn't look like they have many options. And if you are going to be a team that relies so heavily on defense, you need a guy who can give you a reliable 3 point try. what about the kicker from memphis? i saw him at the skills competition and he's got a big leg and very accurate.
  3. i heard him on the radio talking about Thome batting 3rd, he mentioned that he DOES strike out a lot, but he WALKS a lot, too. mike north actually sounded like an informed sportstalkin' guy while discussing this. wow, chcago radio personalities talking about the benefit of WALKING? what has the world come to. the only other mention of OBP that i've ever heard on the score is when murph had steve goldman on. i don't think that ozzie is an upgrade to baker, really, but at least he recognizes who to hit and where.
  4. that dunk made me want to slap my mama.
  5. That's exactly how I feel. I couldn't help but put up the "W" flag in my room yesterday. I wanted to punch myself for doing it, though. bad juju, very bad juju. A superstitious communist. Sully, I love you man. Cheers. just stay away from jobu's rum.
  6. See Mike Aller's sig for details. meh, it's hard to say. but i guarantee you that gordon's physically stronger than lebron. Pound for pound maybe, but LeBron needs to be pretty strong to finish some of the drives he does.* *I admit complete and utter bias. LeBron should be the MVP, and probably deserves part of North Dakota as tribute to him. didn't gordon set some kind of bench press record for NBA players? i could be wrong, though.

  8. zambrano is already on buerhle's level, anyone making a claim that he isn't hasn't consulted the statistics.

  10. i wish that gordon was 3 inches taller. he'd be the best player in the league. no guard in the league is that strong with that kind of body control.
  11. one day " 21" should be flying down the right field line. he was the most productive cub player ever, like him or not. he gave his freaking heart and soul to this franchise for 13 years. he charged out of that dugout into right field for probably most of the life-spans of many here on this board. i understand that there will be ingrates everywhere, you just can't please some people, no matter what kind of show you put on. make no mistake--sammy gave it all to the fans. he deserves better.
  12. okay, so zambrano dropped a lot of weight, i'm not sure if that actually means anything, though.
  13. i've often wondered the same thing. come back dick, don't go off so soon!
  14. for the record, i was talking about signing law last year. i'd do it, but he's going to want a lot of money, as raw pointed out.
  15. What Virginia TE? Pope (Georgia) should be a late first rounder; Lewis (UCLA) might sneak in. I'd guess Lewis, Fasano (ND) and Byrd (USC) should be second or even third rounders. i think he's talking about maryland's davis.
  16. http://www.usacurl.org/athletes/biographies/cassie_house.gif i love her.
  17. Yeah, like totally, fer sure. No, he wouldn't make the HOF if he died tomorrow, but project his numbers over a 15 year career, and he has a legitimate shot. He WOULDN'T? yer kiddin', right? if he played 12 more years at the same production, he'd hit 632 home runs, and drive in around 1500 runs for his career. are those stats "truthy" enough for you.
  18. i don't know what the big deal was about dunn anyway, he's fat, he's a poor defender, he's not clutch, he's terrible on the hit and run, he doesn't bunt, he doesn't shake things up on the basepaths, and he strikes out too much! who cares if he walks alot, walks don't win games-bunting wins games, small ball wins games. besides, dunn wants to raise his family in cincinnati, which has great schools, the weather is terrific, and the quality of life is amazing. why would he want to think about leaving? it's likely he never considered chicago as a destination, i bet his agent just told hendry to go "take a walk".
  19. you better believe in magic.
  20. cassie johnson = hot
  21. i'm sure k will find room for him somewhere.
  22. replace gallagher with hill or guzman. i don't want to give them our top pitching prospect. besides, he's probably still too far away for them anyway.
  23. dunn's a superstar hitter, any time you have the opportunity to get a superstar hitter you do it. especially one who doesn't cost much and will probably be undervalued throughout his career due to the fact that he strikes out a lot. getting and dunn and freel would solve this team's OBP problem, and would make the offense capable of carrying the team if a certain pitcher or two go down.
