  1. I can't believe the general consensus is based on emotional overreaction. No way! The general consensus is still that RBIs are the best way to measure a power hitter, so the GC can go take a flying flip at the moon for all I care. seems like kind of an arbitrary example.
  2. our goalies suck ass, though, total.
  3. i can't believe you're disagreeing with the general consensus. no [expletive] way
  4. how many of these games does illinois have to play before the big ten does something?
  5. i can't wait until we have good players.
  6. is anybody watching this game? illinois is honestly getting fouled every time down, yet ohio state is the team shooting free throws.
  7. 4 illini players and the ball bounces right to lauderdale.
  8. go figure. illini getting no calls against a team playing football.
  9. ohio state, for a team that doesn't shoot a lot of threes, enjoys shooting them against us.
  10. we are getting run.
  11. i would take turco in a minute.
  12. what would it take to get vokoun?
  13. Bump that to 4.43 officially. Not quite as impressive, but still very good for a guy that size. let me guess, the 9ers might take a shot at him?
  14. 4.48 for Benn, not bad. i'm wondering what Boldin ran.
  15. Green, Bulger, Kitna and O'Sullivan all had decent mobility at one time. Green and Bulger had injuries which hurt their mobility. Kitna always was a mobile QB. And O'Sullivan was 5th for QBs in yards per game scrambling when he started 8 games for Martz in 2008. kitna didn't have much mobility left with the lions but o'sullivan i may have been wrong on.
  16. Depends on what kind of draft pick they get. Toronto is pathetic, and a mess in goal. If they can trade bad contract for bad contract, stabilize goalie in the short term and gain a decent pick, it makes perfect sense. Huet is decent and not grossly overpaid. for a second goalie he's overpaid, as he's not supplanting giguere.
  17. doesn't make sense for the leafs anyway. actually, it doesn't make sense for anyone to take on huet.
  18. Most QBs get killed when they don't have a good o-line in front of them. His last 3 years his QB's averaged taking 56 sacks a year. The previous two years were 43 and 50. That's not the norm. Even Cutler only took 35 last year. If their o-line isn't improved he's going to take an additional 20-25 sacks in this offense and take even more hits. That's bad news. 1. the bears are going to improve their line. 2. warner, green, bulger, kitna, and o'sullivan are all statues. i don't know enough about shaun hill to judge one way or another, though. he may be mobile. 3. don't you have another nfl team to worry about? why do you care so much about what a bunch of bear fans think or why they have hope for next season? better yet, why do you feel the need to be a troll about this all the time? just let bear fans be unreasonably hopeful, i know viking fans will be, what with all of those super bowl rings they got last year.
  19. yeah, but i'm not sure that was in the game plan. it was more of just a product of not being able to run or getting behind early.
  20. martz fulfills at least one of my requirements in that he runs a pass-happy offense. the balancing of plays is overrated and is promoted by football neanderthals. my problem with martz is that he runs very little shotgun and doesn't allow the quarterback to audible. i think cutler could benefit from being given a certain amount of autonomy, although i will say that martz's audibles are really within the play that is called. they are so complex that there are plenty of options and ways to beat any number of defenses, so, in that way, cutler will be given options.
  21. yeah but so do the canucks (both sedins, kesler, luongo, etc) and the sharks (heatley/marleau/thornton/boyle/nabakov/pavelski), and those are really the only 2 teams i'm worried about from the west. demitra even though he hasn't really played yet. come to think of it, it was probably good for him, damn. but then again, hossa gets some highly competitive games under his belt this year, too.
  22. Why hopefully? Hopefully Martz fixes this inept offense, which just happens to include a disappointing TE, and stays for a while. Like he did in Detroit. Martz is a terrible offensive coordinator, and you'll figure that out pretty fast. detroit fell off of a cliff after he left.
  23. but pretty much every other cup contender is in the same boat.
  24. how often do you deal with Canadians? too much.
  25. this would be easier to take if canadians could show a little decorum. they're going to be impossible to deal with for the next 4 years.
