  1. dont even i only mean if he dies on the field after getting hit real hard because we didn't improve our line.
  2. chris redman re-signed in atlanta. redman would have been a nice option as backup if cutler dies or something.
  3. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/03/04/peppers-to-redskins-rumors-go-to-full-boil/ well, that certainly sucks.
  4. and judging by the careers of the guys mentioned and the fact that peppers's numbers are similar, peppers could very well produce at a high level for another 6-7 years.
  5. zach zaidman just tweeted that the redskins aren't in the running for peppers.
  6. i'm hearing the rolle signing will be confirmed within the hour. but i have no link.
  7. no doubt. rolle negotiations heating up. http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/03/free-agent-rolle-could-find-new-home-quickly.html
  8. Rolle and Chester Taylor would be a good offseason IMO and I'm a guy that always wants to go after the big names! I'm scared Peppers will come in and be what Ben Wallace was to the Bulls. Which means he won't give a s*** once he gets his paycheck. the two situations are way different, wallace wasn't worth anything befor ehe got his pyacheck and was nowhere close to a diminant player at his position. I disagree. Wallace was a beast before he got his contract. He was one of the main reasons why the Pistons won that championship. I compare both of them because they were both around 30 when their contract was up and both probably on the downslide of their careers. wallace was 2 years removed from that pistons championship, and averaged 7 and 11 the year before the deal as opposed to 6 and 11 the year after. defensively, he wasn't much diiferent while peppers is still performing at a high level in terms of his position.

  10. could we agree to send them olsen instead? hoomanwanui from illinois is an excellent blocking TE and shou;d be available in the 6th or 7th round, possibly even as a FA. we should consider bringing him in, he did 25 reps, is samoan, and has a gigantic ass.
  11. broncos just used first round tender on marshall.
  12. Huet is absolutely a starter in this league, and it's not close. There aren't two dozen better goalies in the league right now. He may not be the ideal starter for a Cup contender, and he may be overpaid, but he's definitely a No. 1 somewhere in the league. According to his save percentage, he is 32nd out of 45 qualified goalies, on by all accounts a good defensive team. and that's assuming the quality of shots they see are equal, which they aren't.
  13. yeah, but we can't ignore the line, either.
  14. There's no reason you would be effective. It's two very different ways of playing defense in the secondary. i'd argue that it's much harder to go from zone to man rather than man to zone. cromartie has closing speed and size, two qualities that lovie looks for on defense.
  15. I don't think he'd be a good fit for this defense. He's better at man coverage and can't tackle anyone. Corners need to be able to hit in Lovie's D. (insert joke about how the Bears can't tackle anyone either) good point, but i still think that if you're good at man coverage, there's no reason you won't be effective in zone. as far as not being able to tackle anyone, that can be coached if it has to be. plus, he's fast so he's got closing speed, also highly valued in lovie's defense. he's an instant upgrade over bowman. if we trade forte, it's also easier to sell potential FA Rb's, who will think that they'll be the featured back, even though i see kevin jones's role increasing in martz's offense.
  16. Pray McCamey comes back, otherwise we are going to see WAY too much JJ. I believe he'll come back it'll only improve his draft position. If he doesn't, I don't know if we'll necessarily see way too much of JJ. Weber values defense, if Paul improves or say, Richmond or Head play good D they'll get the minutes over JJ. And none of those players are ball handlers. Bertrand is apparently lacking in this area as well. Unless we take a PG for 2010 it'll be a lot of JJ. richmond might have to handle the point ala evan turner.
  17. would the chargers take forte for cromartie? sign chester taylor and draft a rb next year.
  18. wait, 2 years ago you were saying that these WOULD be the good players no, i said that we'd have them eventually. i wasn't planning on a tourney bid this year. they're not good enough to win this young. the groundwork has been laid, though.
  19. You crack me up. good, because it was my attempt at humor
  20. One game proves everything, amirite? you're the one that brought anecdotal evidence into the argument. they're fair game, now.
  21. His pre-Hawks career disagrees. his career as a backup or second goalie, you mean?
  22. the isles' 40 year old journeyman did just fine last night. but that's anecdotal.
  23. Huet is absolutely a starter in this league, and it's not close. There aren't two dozen better goalies in the league right now. He may not be the ideal starter for a Cup contender, and he may be overpaid, but he's definitely a No. 1 somewhere in the league. on a non-cup contender, his numbers are much worse, and he'd lose his job quickly.
  24. Well yes. I wanted an example and I picked one. I don't have any preexisting principles regarding choice of anecdotes, so any choice I made would have to be arbitrary. anecdotes make my ass twitch. excellent.
  25. Huet is fine and Niemi is a perfectly acceptable backup, he's just struggled when given everyday duty. I'd be completely in favor of upgrading over Huet, but in a salary cap sport that's next to impossible, and most of the discussion has seemingly been about replacing him with just a different name who isn't any better. both are fine backups, neither is a full-time starter.
