  2. i think better goalie technique and better goalie equipment have a lot to do with it. watching classic hockey games from the 70s and 80s, giving up a goal on unscreened shot from the top of the circles was not considered a softie back then. now it is. the area of open net to shoot at looks much larger 20-30 years ago than today. yeah, pretty much the rise of the butterfly technique and giant pads.
  3. there are some rumblings that calipari is attempting to hire jerrance howard away from illinois. i'm not worried, as howard left kentucky to come to illinois, and i'm pretty sure they won't offer him a raise that the illini can't at least come close to. i'm also absolutely sure that illinois will do whatever it takes to keep him, as he is the key for future program success. he'll leave eventually to take a head coaching position at a mid-major and i ultimately think he will end up as weber;s successor. hiring people from within the program is clutch. but seriously, cal is [expletive] scum, he's just looking for someone to take the fall for him during his next scandal.
  4. No, only a couple of 8 seeds made it out of the first round in the NBA and they all lost in the second round. the knicks made the finals as an 8 seed Hmm, must have forgot about that. I just remember the Nuggets and Warriors. it was in the lockout-shortened year, so it may have been easy to forget.
  5. the man can't go over, that's not how the soft cap works. you can only go over if you're signing your own players. Ah, gotcha. I thought it was an issue of paying some kind of luxury tax or something. there is a luxury tax that applies to teams that are way over, though.

  8. i always wondered where he got all those cold sores. nothing would surprise me about delonte, not even learning that he guards a whiskey still in appalachia
  9. i want no part of either of those teams in the cup finals
  10. a perfect microcosm of the series.
  11. i don't hate any team because the bulls beat everybody so badly during the 90's, especially the cavs and knicks.
  12. I'M REALLY GLAD DAN GILBERT CALLED A PC TO ANNOUNCE THAT HE WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED
  13. i think they are "anti-bulls" in the fact that they don't think he will sign with the bulls. i don't think that means that they are anti-bulls in general. there is a marked difference between being "anti-bulls" on an issue like this one and being in an "anyone but the bulls" flailing hysteria.
  14. Exactly. If they were going to Brooklyn next year I think it would be a slam dunk. As it is I think it makes sense but is about 3rd/4th most likely. Bucher thinks the opposite of Broussard and feels there will be a sign and trade although I think his logic was a bit off. If it were to become clear that a S&T would be required to land him, it would turn into an interesting bidding war. how will there be a bidding war? lebron will tell the cavs he's going to sign somewhere and will give them the chance to do a sign-and-trade. cleveland is not calling the shots in terms of what they get back at all, the only choice they have is if they do a s&t or not. they cannot dictate where he'll go and there won't be a bidding war.
  15. i was more right about lebron
  16. It's not like he'd have to live there. no, but visiting there is bad enough. you're going to showcase lebron in newark? again, a case of the anyone but the bulls mentality.
  17. yes, we have his bird rights.
  18. but i DO get the "anyone but the bulls" sentiment.
  19. i don't think lebron wants to play 3 years in newark, though
  20. we took jack skille over anze kopitar
  21. haha jordan's legend bothers ssr so much
  22. but you're also missing that fact that i was right about everything.
  23. Man, I am gonna be unhappy if we miss out on Shaw or Davis because of Uthoff. if shaw wants to play for illinois, he'll commit quickly.
  24. i don't think there's nearly as much pressure in chicago, just judging from the past 12 or so years. the reason there's so much pressure on him in cleveland is that that city has never won anything and he's the greatest thing that they've ever had. chicago has been laid by the championship sirens recently, their pipes are clean i think he leaves, he's gone about as far as he's going to go with this cavs team, and chicago is as good a place as any.
  25. I'm just not sure what cap space does to help a LeBron-less Cleveland. Yeah they might get someone in a trade but they don't necessarily need cap space to make the trade. It helps them more than bringing in Luol Deng. Maybe if a lottery pick came with it or something, or even just Chicago's 1st that they could package it to get into the lottery, I don't know. deng has a long, bad deal, too.
