  1. I don't know about all time, but last year 5 out of the 17 runningbacks that gained 1,000 yards also had at least 500 yards receiving. Two others were above 450. that has to be an anomaly.
  2. how many running backs in history have gained 1,000 yards on the ground and 500 yards through the air in the same season? that's pretty impressive and shows just how versatile forte is.
  3. is the goalie from manchester city doing the haduken?
  4. webb is having rotator cuff surgery on august 1st. he's done.
  5. Because winning the division shouldn't be the goal. If the goal is to win the WS, the division will come. This attitude drives me crazy. no team in the national league has the money to build a team to compete for a world series consistently. There are 2 teams in the american league that can look past the regular season year after year, but not one in the national league. this nonsense about competing for a world series would make sense if the world series title were just the best record in baseball and there were no divisions whatsoever. in baseball, you build to compete in the regular season and hope to get lucky in the playoffs. Minor nitpick-if the Phillies keep their payroll where it is, then they will have joined that group. They have the 2nd highest payroll in all of baseball this year. fair enough.

  7. Good lord, I think my eyes are bleeding from the horrible grammar and punctuation. Do editors, or somebody else, not proof this crap any more? kelly pizza was asleep at the wheel
  8. I heard them mention this in passing on the radio today, but they also mentioned that they have to not only sign their own free agents, but their draft class as well. I'm not sure how much that would cost, but it sounds like they'd be wanting to sign a dozen guys before they even looked outward. i've seen it broken down where they could afford to give some nice money out at positions of need (including a huge contract to sidney rice), sign their free agents and draft class, and have a bit of money left over.
  9. i guess they thought the ball blocked itself looked like it could have been a handball too
  10. wow, that's ridiculous
  11. alex morgan is a [expletive] fox and a half.
  12. wow, what a shot
  13. i agree with dexter, we've certainly gained a good deal of cap flexibility, but talent-wise, we've gotten much worse. pray for morin and kruger and beach and leddy to be stars.
  14. What indications were these? None. OK, it seemed clear to me we wouldn't be loading up on huge, long contracts like we used to, but I acknowledge I could be wrong. Why is it clear to you? I'm honestly asking, because then you're privy to information the rest of us don't have. I'm sure he's talking about the cubs' insistence on not going after one of the best hitters in the game entering the prime of his career. i mean, it's just common sense to see why any team would be averse to that.
  15. what do you think kelly pizza is actually doing? reading his articles before they go to print must be like the 7th level of hell to them, considering they probably can't just fire him for being bad or for being ugly, or for being impossible to bring themselves to look at or talk to.
  16. i love djokovic, hate federer and nadal.
  17. i'm sure that if it was really that important to him that he would have just pushed his fat ass to the front. he was a key part of that run and i'm absolutely positive he was an insider on that team.
  18. marrero sounds like a solid mid-major player. don't want him on the illini, if he was smart he would have verballed a long time ago. we need hamilton, man, we need hamilton. i'm sold on this kid being a monster, and not like his dad was.
  19. good pickup and good story. tate technically is ranked higher, but it seems the high school and aau coaches prefer james.
  20. i was there in 94 and saw a 4 game set with the tigers and wandered around after the game and stumbled into the players exit. i met dave henderson and vince coleman, awesome guys. went up some stairs and i was on the players' side of the divider. saw david cone, stan belinda, felix jose. then i got sent to the other side.
  21. enjoy it, it's a really nice place to see a game.
