where do i sign? he's virtually guaranteed to be worth more than 5 million per every single year of the deal. Yeah that's a much different tune than the $50-60M we've heard. That said, I wonder how many minor league prospects there are around baseball that a team like the Cubs would be willing to cut a $30M check to acquire. For all intents and purposes, that's what Cespedes is. over 6 years? a few.

all i know is i'm not getting any younger so we better plan on bringing in better players than daric motherfucking barton and ian stewart. we're looking legendarily bad for 2012, maybe the worst cubs team since '94 if no moves of any kind are being made other than letting our best hitter walk and bringing in a guy that OPS'd under .500 last season.

As one of the better young guards in the league I would assume he's getting the [expletive] out of NO as soon as free agency comes. Per Chad Ford: Barring an extension, Gordon will be a restricted FA on July 1st. If no deal with NO, he's an unrestricted FA in summer of 2013. Just in time for Rip to leave. That'll also be the summer before Deng's final year. I haven't looked at the numbers but I'm assuming Boozer would have to be amnestied to make room. Even then it's probably not enough to be able to fit him under. Probably S+T with Deng going back or to a 3rd team. gordon will never sign with the bulls, he'd get too many death threats.

he'll most likely be worth 25 mil per year for 4 of those years. i'd do both in a heartbeat. He's been worth less than 15 million in half of his seasons, including 2 of the last 4. I'd probably grit my teeth at 6/150 depending on what else happens, but it would not be "good" deal for the Cubs. He was only 24 in the first one of those years. I'd hardly hold it against him. He's been rather Sotoian in alternating his best years with his worst, which was really what I was getting at. The fact that his WAR was as low as 1.7 in 2008 doesn't worry me as much as the fact that he hasn't exceeded 4 WAR(which falls 5 million short of a 25M AAV) with regularity. he's been worth 67 million over the last 3 years in terms of real production. if he duplicates that, even with a down year over the next 4, the 2-3 extra million per we needed to get him signed was worth the investment.

Not sure if you're serious or not, but I'll answer since nobody else did. Prednisone is an anti-inflammatory steroid that slightly suppresses your immune system and cortisone works in a similar manner and neither jacks up your testosterone level. The crap Braun is accused of taking is an anabolic steroid, which does jack up the testosterone level, either directly by what's taken or by taking a precursor that turns into testosterone. correct, prednisone is not an anabolic steroid. you will not get stronger from taking it, though your bones may turn to dust and you may swell up like a balloon. -

according to fangraps, fielder has been worth 3.5 more total war in 4 less seasons. he's far younger and he's far better, your logic is [expletive] Looking at average WARs is a helluva lot more logical than looking at total WAR. i don't see why, as part of the reason for mentioning total war was due to the fact that fielder has 4 less years of service than pena, and has been worth a significant amount more. he's also younger and a permanent solution at first at the age of 27. over the last 3 years, fielder has been worth 5.1 WAR per year, Pena has been worth 2.1. for those that can't count, that's 3 wins per year, a significant amount considering that's two and a half times more.

The Reds were 79-83, the Cubs were 71-91 last season. And the Reds didn't have the injury problems the Cubs did. The Reds can certainly be contenders in the division next year, but I wouldn't say they're "much closer" to contention than the Cubs, nor were they quite a bit better than the Cubs last season. Cubs are also currently without two of their best offensive players from last year. What happened to Castro? "two of their" not "their two" in your defense both pena and ramirez were more productive at the plate than castro.
