yeah, AJ was a reach, can't believe they didn't trade down, but someone projected him at 38 so i guess SF felt that he was going to go soon after if they didn't take him.

Some of the guys here have spent a lot of time reading the Walterfootball.com scouting reports. And several others saw a very extensive highlight package on McLellin that told them what they need to know. Or have family live around Boise or family member who are at Boise State telling them what they've seen. (got family in Eastern Oregon who goes to Boise State games and a cousin who's a soph there) i'm not so disappointed at who we took so much as who we passed on. i know next to nothing about mclellin other than he appears undersized and weak in the haunches. looking at his film, he looks like he has good instincts and is more an instinctual pass-rusher than a physical one. he may be ok, i don't see his ceiling as being very high as a professional, but then again, i don't know much about him.

Because people on message boards know more than NFL executives who have access to reams and reams of information, interviews, scouting reports, video analysis and other tools. yeah, because it takes reams and reams of information to draft john allred in the first, then convert him to a fullback. we all assume these guys are smart, then they do idiotic things like draft shea rubenstein.

Same here. I'm trying to be happy because the Pats wanted him, but who really cares? We should have taken that 3rd, dropped back, and took whatever the hell fell to us. they wanted him because he's a walk-up linebacker that fits a 3-4 like matthews or jj watt. he is not a sideline-to-sideline coverage linebacker, nor is he big enough to be much in the pass rush in the pros. he is your quintessential tweener/3-4 guy. he's john thierry on the edge and a hillenmeyer sam. not first-round material.

that doesn't make any sense, none of our linebackers are hand-in-the-dirt guys at all, nor is the system designed for them to do so.
