  1. I don't think it's realistic to expect a GM to bring back an expensive player who tanked 2/3 of his contract and only produced in his walk year. Letting Alou go was what any GM would have done.
  2. A couple of days ago he hit a fly ball for a double. He trotted towards 1st and watched the ball until it fell, then he sped up and barely made it to 2nd. The annoying thing is that it obviously wasn't going to be a routine catch for the outfielder, yet Aram loafed until he saw the ball drop. I think he got used to loafing on the basepaths last year due to injury, now it's a habit and he does it even when he's healthy.
  3. In 9 games. Can you let me use my small sample size to help bitch about Neifi being on this team without correction please? Neifi's whole career Sox.
  4. Neifi rulez the known universe and all others yet to be discovered.
  5. I had that game on and enjoyed it. Thrilling finish. I admit it, I don't hate the Sox.
  6. If Neifi has a couple of good games Hairston is in trouble.
  7. What is the Cubs' e-mail address? I'd like to add my name to the list. Hell yeah, do it! It'd be awesome to have a Cubs BP pitcher be a regular poster at NSBB.
  8. Can you imagine how many emails the Cubs are getting this very moment from left-handed guys who pitched in college and high school? I wish I fit that description because I'd love to be a BP pitcher in the big leagues.
  9. Maybe the Cubs haven't hired a LH batting practice pitcher because they're afraid Jones might suffer the humiliation of being unable to hit the guy.

  11. Hill was a bust. Grudz was almost certainly the better choice, patricularly in hindsight. ;) I disagree on Dubois. Hollandworth was terrible, and Dubois had/has more upside. As for Choi, I'm going to dig up Tim's comprehensive study on Choi -- who should have been platooned with Karros. the cubs did the right thing by bringing in randall simon. Nah, that was one of those lightning in a bottle things. Simon was a crappy player in the midst of a crappy season who miraculously pulled a brief run of respectability out of his enormous butt. Sometimes you get lucky that way.
  12. The guy will be 28 in June and already he moves like an arthritic geriatric. How fast will he be moving a few years from now? I'm not a big speed advocate, I just want people who run fast enough not to clog the bases, and Aram could easily be the slowest player in baseball before his contract is up.
  13. I want to know specifically what Aram did in the offseason to get in shape, because to me it doesn't look like he did much. I know some people can work out and not get ripped and chiseled looking, and I was hoping Aram fit that category. I noticed he wasn't moving all that well in April and hoped he was just having trouble getting loose in the cold weather, but it's May now. It was 70 degrees today and Aram still ran like a 70 year old man. At this point I'm starting to believe Aram simply didn't work as hard in the offseason as the Cubs led us to believe.
  14. I'm not convinced. To my eyes his body is the same as last year and he still runs like a creaky old man. I know he was supposed to have gotten more serious about fitness in the offseason but I don't see any tangible evidence of it. I find that very disappointing.
  15. Why is our very expensive setup man pitching in a blowout? Where's Glendon?
  16. The best part about Wellbutrin is that it has a low risk of sexual side effects - or so I hear I hear it makes you limper than Juan Pierre's throwing arm. Just kidding.
  17. You could have a 12 year old girl throw beach balls at him and he'd miss if the girl were left-handed.
  18. I believe it has a lot to do with their ridiculously over aggressive approach. Soft-tossers get you out by having you swing at their pitch. The Cubs, as a rule, will swing at any pitch. I think the fundamental problem at the moment is that our two big RH bats are missing. DLee is injured and Aram is still on vacation.
  19. So true. I actually got tired of complaining about it, so I let others do it for me now.
  20. Thank you! I don't understand how professional athletes can be so fragile sometimes. Nice K on Bay! I'm disappointed in Aram's offseason conditioning program. He doesn't look any more buff than last year and he still runs like a fragile old man.
  21. Aramis must have gotten used to loafing on the basepaths when he was injured last year cause now he always runs likes he's protecting an injured body part. That has to stop. He needs to run hard out of the box and he better practice his slides.
  22. Aram is not a particularly graceful runner.
  23. Can I ask him why this team sucks so much, or does it have to be a question about him? We suck? We are holding our own dispite having 3 rookies in our rotation. What do you want? an offense? We specifically suck vs. LHP right now. Aram absolutely has to pick it up.
