  1. This might actually be worse than anything Dusty did.
  2. Sounds like an April Fool's Day joke. If true it's awfully odd behavior on Lou's part. I'd prefer Lou to be less wacky or free-spirted or whatever you want to call it and just do the job he's paid to do.
  3. Was I wrong to want a rebuilding season?
  4. Is Marquis really pinch hitting?
  5. If by worst you mean BEST! :P No, it's bad. I actually like a lot of hair metal. A couple years back I burned a 2 vol. hair metal compilation that I listened to quite a lot but Cherry Pie just grated and I kept skipping past it. It was the only song that annoyed me enough to consistently skip it. Even as kitsch it's hard to stomach.
  6. I have no problem with Gooz going down. He's better off getting regular starts and not sporadic bullpen work. I suspect Miller is going to lose his spot in the rotation before long and I'd rather see Gooz come up then.
  7. Pie will go when Soriano is healthy. We don't know that. If Pie goes on a tear while Fonz is gone it will be very difficult to justify sending him back to Iowa, particularly if Jones is still struggling.
  8. We have 5 outfielders who need regular playing time. Somebody has to go. I'm sure the Cubs would like to move Jones but they already tried that in the offseason and failed.
  9. I'd prefer Soriano in RF because he's got a much better arm. I'd be fine with that too. Anything that gets the expensive guy with the bad hammy out of CF is good.
  10. I want to see how Lou configures the OF when Fonz returns. Personally I would put Fonz in LF for a few games so he wouldn't have to run as much and move Jones to CF. Murt would stay in RF.
  11. 1 actually, but your point is well taken. Oops. Forgot about Aram's homer.
  12. We were counting on 110-120 HR's from Fonz/DLee/Aram. After 12 games they've produced zero HR's.
  13. With the bad hammy will Fonz have the mobility to play CF? I'm guessing he'll have to move to a corner and Jones will go to CF until Fonz heals.
  14. haha. It's funny but it's true. Can you imagine what would happen if he went 0-4 tonight with a GIDP and 2 K's? He'd be a platoon player. Your exaggerating just a bit. "Most important game of his life?" Naw, I don't think it's an exaggeration. If he has a terrible game tonight the implications would be pretty depressing for him.
  15. haha. It's funny but it's true. Can you imagine what would happen if he went 0-4 tonight with a GIDP and 2 K's? He'd be a platoon player.
  16. Murt needed that bad. This is the most important game in his career.
  17. I think that's the most likely situation, but it's also possible they are trying to showcase Murton for a trade. If Lou really does have a strong preferrence for Floyd and Jones at the corners then it might be a good idea to see what Murton could bring on the open market. Better than letting him rot on the bench waiting for a LHP to face.
  18. We need Murton in the lineup. Main thing we need though is for our expensive sluggers to finally start hitting some home runs.
  19. Not to be insensitive, but we're in the middle of a war. American soldiers are fighting and dying every day. I feel bad when I read casualty reports from Iraq but I still follow baseball. I can see college athletics being suspended for a while, but pro sports should go on.
  20. Threatening to bench? I'm guessing Izzy and Floyd.
  21. Len said that he might be available tomorrow. To start or pinch hit? Just checked Yahoo's recap, apparently Piniella said he's "hopefully optimistic" Ramirez will be able to start. Lou hopes he's optimistic? That sounds like a step down from actually being optimistic.
  22. This will be easily the most important game of Murt's career. If puts up an 0-fer he's a platoon player.
  23. Wait til he's in his mid 30's making $19M per year.
  24. Our 3 big thumpers (Fonz, DLee, Aram) have produced a combined total of one home run. In my mind that's the Cubs' problem that really sticks out above the rest.
