  1. ! I drank a lot of that stuff at a concert in Milwaukee this summer. This is the only other time besides then that I have ever heard the stuff mentioned! It's second only to Indio. Which is hard to get considering it is mexican and isn't imported. I live in San Antonio and its tough to get. I really dont like going down to Laredo and getting shot to get some. People drink sShiner all the time here (New Mexico). Has anyone here had Arrogant Bastard Ale, or any other Stone brews? Now that's a MAN's beer. Everybody I know who's ever had this thinks it's the best thing ever. Of course, it's beer, so I'd rather drink my own urine, personally.
  2. NEITHER IS THE CORRECT ANSWER ORANGE JUICE OJ is killer, man.
  3. Wow, Soriano that quickly. I'm possibly pleased. I'd rather have had Drew, but the injury concerns are there, and Soriano's athleticism do give him a better chance than most to stay productive at advanced ages. A career year at 30 is cause for concern, To all the people suggesting it could be a 5/90 with 46 mil in options: why would the options be for less per year than the first 5 years? I'd see it more likely at 5/80 (16 mil per) with options for years 6-8 for 17, 18, and 20.
  4. I don't see how short/mobile/elusive are in any way related. Smith is a smart, polished pocket passer who is very accurate and can throw a lot of the NFL throws. He also can run. If anything limits his NFL productivity, it's likely his size, and possibly ability to throw the deep ball.
  5. Ah, the ever-so-common 3-2 score.
  6. Quinn definitely has the NFL body of the two.
  7. Alright, Arkansas clinches the West, and remains undefeated in a hard fought game against Mississippi State, who came in sporting a ridiculous run defense and lived up to it today. I was skeptical until I saw the way they bottled up the Hogs. There is some very intriguing talent on that team, and they might not suck for long--honestly, they kinda remind me of the Razorbacks last season, with the obvious difference of not having a big-time difference makers like McFadden on offense. Next comes the Battle for the Boot. Sadly, the close game between OSU and Michigan all but eliminates any chance of the Hogs sneaking into the championship game (I'm a little skeptical that Michigan would fall enough in the polls to give Arkansas a chance to pass, even with losses by USC and ND in the coming weeks). Also, testimony to what a stud McFadden is--today he was bottled up big time--at halftime, he had 11 rushes for 22 yards. Nevertheless, he managed to still have a huge impact, returning a kickoff 92 yards for a TD and throwing a crucial pass to Marcus Monk for a big first down. I'm glad I don't work next Friday.
  8. I am making a bold prediction right now. Ohio St will beat anyone they play by 3 tds, unless its Michigan. In some sort of sick way I hope they do play Rutgers. I dont know if the pass interference play was called correctly. I do know that the defender had his back turned and was slapping at Manningham's hands. If he by chance didnt hit one he was lucky because he sure was trying to interfere. I dont think the refereeing made any difference in the outcome of the game. I think that there was some not so great calls both ways but the difference in the game if you ask me is that Troy Smith played better than Henne. It wasnt that Henne played bad but Smith was Heismanesgue. You can just hand the Heisman to Smith now. It's not even going to be close. McFadden's a heck of a player----I'd put him second ahead of Quinn. But I'd be suprised if those two combined get the votes Smith will. He romped in two games against challenging #2 teams. That's the definition of Heisman Trophy winner. Yeah, after htis week, my ballot would be something like Smith/Slaton/McFadden/Quinn/somebody else.
  9. Really? I'm starting to have a really good feeling about it. And it starts with the fact that we A) seem to have no interest in Zito, and B) are showing interested in Drew. I agree. I like that Hendry and Pineilla seem to be changing the philosophy a bit, targeting J.D. Drew and hiring a guy like Perry to be the hitting coach. I like that Hendry is working like his pants are on fire for a change. I love the payroll increase. I feel a whole lot better now than I did a couple weeks ago, that's for sure. What evidence is there that the Cubs are targeting Drew? I haven't seen any. It's being reported all over the place that the Cubs and Red Sox are the frontrunners for Drew.
  10. I'm pretty sure I'd be a little skeptical if Mike North told me the sun came up this morning.
  11. Wow. That's pretty ridiculous. Matt Murton<<<< And Carlos pojects as a DH. Murton is NOT a 4th OF. He can hit WELL enough, and get on WELL ENOUGH to warrant being a LF. Besides...Murton is a bargain at his current contract, whereas Carlos Lee is more likely going to be a burden on some team salary. No question....Murton IS BETTER then Lee. On a high power team, he might be a good starter, but he reminds me of Jason Michaels and that is not special. ...Jason Michaels? What? Wait, HUH?
  12. Ummm... SS is probably our biggest hole of all. I have much more faith in Pie, Pagan, and Theriot to hit like league average CF, RF, and 2B men... respectively, than I have in Izturis to hit like a league average SS. Izturis isn't on this team to hit. He's there to prevent runs, which he is phenomenal at. Both offensively and defensively.
  13. Then they are highly overating Giles. No thanks. That's funny, coming from you.
  14. Offensively, I want a free agent CF: 1) J.D. Drew 2) Alfonso Soriano Drew is more valuable for the money, in my opinion. He'll likely require fewer years and less money. Yes, he has health issues, and is a decent bet to miss 30-40 games. In that case, the Cubs should just follow the motto and PLAY PIE. I also want a 2B: 1) Iwamura 2) Soriano 3) Durham 4) Giles 5) Loretta Iwamura has the best combination of potential production, potential longevity, and probable low cost. Hence, he ranks highest, though how well he would play 2B or SS is still undetermined. Soriano is an impact player, but is probably not worth the money he's likely to command unless he plays second, where his defense is questionable. His ability to play 2B or OF makes him most intriguing. Durham is the guy I'd expect the best shot at getting, and his production per dollar ratio looks to be strong at this stage fo his career. He would also likely carry the least restrictive contract, which sets up opportunity to promote EPat if he appears ready. Marcus Giles is available in trade, but giving up talent versus signing a guy isn't particularly attractive in comparison--plus he's coming off a pretty poor season.
  15. The CBS Sportsline 119 poll is up now: 1. Ohio State 2. Michigan 3. Florida 4. Southern California 5. Rutgers 6. Arkansas 7. West Virginia 8. Notre Dame 9. Wisconsin 10. Louisville 11. Boise State 12. Wake Forest 13. Texas 14. LSU 15. Georgia Tech 16. Auburn 17. Oklahoma 18. Maryland 19. Boston College 20. Brigham Young 21. Virginia Tech 22. California 23. Nebraska 24. Clemson 25. Tennessee 26-119 Neat for the fact that it actually ranks past the top 25. Has its share of oddballities.
  16. Wood is my favorite pitcher, and has been since '98. I'm very happy he's going to stick around. I also have ever-growing respect for him for coming back when some team surely would've offered him more money to start and appealing to his ego or whatever. He's as true a Cub as I've seen.
  17. Yeah, OK is, to me, the scariest team not being talked about. They're a legitimately very good team that should be talked about with the rest of the one-loss teams.
  18. Heh, how about ESPN's poll? 1. Ohio St. 11-0 2. Michigan 11-0 3. Rutgers 9-0 4. USC 8-1 5. Notre Dame 9-1 6. Arkansas 9-1 7. Florida 9-1 8. West Virginia 8-1 9. Wisconsin 10-1 10. Arkansas ahead of Florida. West Virginia still ahead of Louisville--I can't figure out what the thinking is behind that. Maybe it's Louisville's closer games against weak teams? But Louisville still beat West Virginia, and their loss was to the team that the same poll ranks #3. Huh?

DROPPED FROM RANKINGS Oregon 20, Texas A&M 23. I totally don't get the voting regarding the Big East teams at all. LSU, top 10?
  21. Do they have to divide that up among the whole team?
  22. Rutgers won it's first impressive game this week. If they knock off West Virginia, I'll have no problem putting them top 5.
  23. With the meaningful games all decided, here's how I would vote this week: 1. OSU 2. Michigan 3. USC 4. Notre Dame 5. Arkansas 6. Florida 7. Rutgers 8. Louisville 9. WVU 10. LSU 11. Texas 12 Auburn 13. Wisconsin 14. Cal 15. Wake Forest 16. Oklahoma 17. Boise St. 18. Maryland 19. Boston College 20. Tennessee 21. Virginia Tech 22. BYU 23. Georgia Tech 24. Nebraska 25. Hawaii The actual rankings will, of course, be nothing like this.
  24. ...that's a pretty awful roughing the passer call. Not that it should matter.
