  1. Wow, that dunk was amazing. Looks like Arkansas's size is starting to get to SIU.
  2. Unfortunately, our offense has turned the ball over a ton too and that's where most of Arkansas' points have come from. 26-24 SIU at half. This has been a war so far. Will either team top 35% shooting when it's said and done?
  3. Man, SIU's defense is smothering. 10 turnovers for the Hogs in the first 9 minutes of the game.
  4. Wow, so he was better against righties than lefties in the second half? Yeah, definitely don't wanna platoon that guy.
  5. Can't wait to finally see the Hogs in action in a few minutes in the opening game of the Old Spice Classic. I'll be torn between this and the Dolphins/Lions game that starts in a half hour. I really think the Razorbacks will break top 25 this season and be very dangerous down the stretch. EDIT: wasn't somebody here a SIU fan?
  6. Overall: .390/.522/.911 I can't find second half righty splits, but I know it was better than the .295/.354/.426 he put up for the entire season against righties.
  7. Well, they're not. The Cubs scored an almost identical percentage of baserunners to the rest of the league, elite teams included. There is very little variation from team to team. The Cubs scored fewer runs because they didn't have enough baserunners, plain and simple.
  8. That's not really the case. Run production and run prevention are equally important. The thing is, at the major league level, the vast majority of run prevention occurs on the mound, as the difference between the best and worst major league fielders at a given position is relatively small, especially when compared to the difference between the best and worst hitters at the same position. So, when choosing a player, defense should be given some consideration, but much more consideration should be given to his offensive skill set, as that's where he's much more likely to be beneficial, with very rare exception.
  9. Bill James? The father of modern sabermetrics? I don't really know how to say this, but he's kind of a big deal. I will grant that his projection models aren't as wonderful as systems like PECOTA, but it's still a wonderful sign that his system sees Rich Hill as probably deserving at least some down-ballot Cy Young consideration. If I recall correctly, PECOTA had Hill putting up some outrageous numbers on the high end as well.
  10. pumpkin is an option Ah, overlooked it. Still, no sweet potato?
  11. I'd say that's going too far. I'd expect 8-9 k per 9 innings out of him at best, probably somewhere closer to 7.5. Which is fine, since he's gone from walking everybody early in his career to walking virtually nobody.
  12. That's awesome. I wish i had thought to ask that.
  13. I'm surprised there was only one Felix on the list. And what's wrong with you people? How can there not be any sweet potato or pumpkin on the list?
  14. It's very possible with the Rose Bowl getting the first at-large pick, especially if Arkansas loses the SEC title game, leaving them as an at-large team. I think that if Arkansas wins the SEC title game, the Rose Bowl will select Florida rather than have a USC/ND rematch, though. Who knows what happens if Florida wins it, though, because Ark/SC would be a rematch as well - a rematch of a terrible game. Somehow I doubt that a USC/Ark rematch would be as big of a blowout as it was the first time. I think it would be a much closer and much more entertaining game but I realize that isn't really saying much. That being said, I would prefer to see two teams that haven't played each other yet this year. Really? You don't expect a 36-24 time of possession advantage? You don't expect a 5-0 turnover ratio? You don't expect a sixth string wide receiver at quarterback? You wouldn't expect having a Heisman candidate not recovering from a dislocated toe to make no difference? Funny, I don't, either. I think Mizzou should be allowed to replay their last two games once Brian Smith gets healthy in December. Circumstances are what they are. If you try to argue away circumstances that caused a loss you'd never get anywhere in ranking teams. That's an excellent job of answering a question that was never asked.

  16. I just like that this guy is a pitcher. An extra twist of irony.
  17. My preference at this point would be to sign Schmidt and win the bid for Igawa. I'd rather pay Igawa 5 or 6 mil a year plus a 6-10 million posting fee than to give up talent (even if it's just Jones) for Westbrook--and I think Igawa can easily be cheaper and better than Westbrook before long. I suppose it's a lot more likely that Wesbrook comes on board, though, and I could deal with that.
  18. Somebody hurry up and send this to FJM!
  19. Has anybody sent this article to FMJ yet?
  20. Gomes is far too good to be a bench player, and his limited numbers are tainted by playing hurt for most of last season. He'd be quite expensive.
  21. Hopefully, the speculation ends when the Cubs win the bid for Igawa and sign Schmidt.
  22. I disagree. I think if Arkansas runs the table in the SEC (or Florida wins the SEC title) they should go in over USC. Yes, Arkansas lost to USC, I know, but the SEC is a better conference that the Pac-10 and USC lost to an unranked team. I don't think the difference is near enough to make up for the fact that USC went to Arkansas and kicked the crap out of them. Same thing for ND/Michigan. Exactly. If this same argument was being made for ND/Michigan (assuming Michigan had hypothetically lost to an unranked team of course) people would be blowing their stacks in defense of the Wolverines. If USC wins out, they should go. If Florida wins out, I'd say they should go. If Arkansas win out and USC doesn't, they should go. If none of those happen then UM can play the rematch. I could get behind that, but what if Florida and USC win out?
  23. If Bob Sanders was playing the Colts would have won. And if my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle. What's your point? I cant wait for someone to quote this with a pic and get banned If your aunt had balls she'd be a baseball player!! http://us.inmagine.com/168nwm/deximage/yngis001/ph134044.jpg If your aunt had balls, she'd have a leg up on Juan Pierre.

  25. Is that chick having butt sex with a cat? Oh, sure, take the cuteness out of the picture why don't you! You don't even know what the usual caption for that picture is...
