  1. ...Harold Reynolds just said that Bobby Crosby had "MVP potential."
  2. Well, clicking on "Draft results" under the league seems to work for me. ;)
  3. I didn't prerank, since I didn't have time, but I came out okay: C R. Barajas (ew) 1B J. Morneau 2B M. Ellis 3B M. Ensberg SS M. Young OF S. Green OF N. Swisher OF R. Baldelli UT J. Rollins BN J. Vidro BN J. Burnitz SP P. Martinez SP A. Burnett RP F. Rodriguez RP H. Street P F. Garcia P D. Haren P B. Fuentes P C. Lidle P R. Seanez P S. Torres That's...kind of an ugly outfield, and those last three pitchers are pretty much completely worthless. But not terrible.
  4. Maybe he thought you were realLEE stupid. It was a bit confusing at first when I saw "C. Lee" twice on the offered side.
  5. Man, I was just going to start a "post your idiotic trade offers" thread. I just got offered Cliff Lee and Carlos lee for Jim Edmonds and Johan Santana. I replied, asking him why he thought I would take the trade, and that if this was a test to see if I was stupid, that he could rest assured I was not.
  6. Speaking of "Barrett" and "#5," check this out: Three year splits: .267/.328/.467 Batting #5: .345/.433/.672 Batting #6: .338/.391/.628 he seems to like batting in those spots.
  7. I vote for the Washington Sofdishes.
  8. Seriously...what's not to like? I'd take a 961 OPS in full season #2 from anyone in our organization, especially if that followed a 908 OPS in full season #1. Not to mention he's a superb basestealer and strong enough in the field to play all three positions. There aren't five outfielders in the game I'd take over Bay, much less three in the Central.
  9. Seriously...what's not to like?
  10. On the other hand, Lee was much better than Beltre for the prior seasons.
  11. You can probably pick up a "new" closer at some point, so it shouldn't be a big deal. It's just that lesser known guys like Ray or Orvalla might have been there by the time Benitez seemed like your best bet. Heck, some of them may still be there now. I like your starting pitching a lot.
  12. Just did two drafts today. Messed up in a couple of places, but I did okay on both. Both need some trades and/or fine tuning to get to where I want them. Team 1: C M. Barret. 1B J. Giambi 2B R. Freel SS F. Lopez 3B M. Mora OF A. Dunn OF J. Gomes OF B. Bonds UT R. Baldelli BN T. Nixon BN M. Ellis SP J. Santana SP J. Peavy SP M. Prior SP C. Zambrano SP K. Wood SP F. Liriano SP A. Heilman RP E. Gagne RP R. Dempster RP J. Devine What this team needs, more than anything, is stolen bases. That's pretty much the reason I got Freel. I also would do pretty well if the Rays run a lot, because Baldelli and Gomes will get a lot of chances. I'm considering making a trade for a speedster without sacrificing power altogether, but I don't know who to target or what to give up (pitching, naturally). Team 2 - tried to avoid some of the weakness of the above: C J. LaRue 1B J. Giambi 2B R. Weeks SS B. Hall 3B C. Jones OF J. Edmonds OF T. Hunter OF G. Jenkins UT J. Gomes BN J. Hermida BN R. Freel BN J. Uribe SP J. Santana SP J. Peavy SP M. Prior SP C. Zambrano SP K. Wood SP J. Beckett SP J. Verlander RP E. Gagne RP R. Dempster Eerie similarities here. Got speed from a lot more spots this time, but less power and average. The upside is huge, but the downside is more than I'd prefer. I will almost certainly be trading pitching for some more offense here, preferably in my weak middle infield. So, thoughts, anybody? Suggestions?
  13. You drafted the same player twice! (Figgins and Freel may as well be the same person) Abreu, Wright, and Helton are a good foundation for your offense. You've got a lot of power/speed combinations, which is good, because you don't have to tie up spots with "speed" guys who don't contribute a lot else. Hermida was a really sharp pickup. Pitching looks pretty good at the top. I don't know if I'd have gone with Benitez--there were probably options with better upside available when you picked him. Altogether, i like it. Balanced. Injuries will happen, so it's nice that you're not really depending on any one or two players entirely too much for any one thing.
  14. Rumor has it that Mark took a dump this morning. Where's the media? I need updates.
  15. Speaking of defensive metrics, one thing that makes me skeptical of them in ways is that there's no real good way to account for the differences in first basemen where they do most of their works--receiving balls from infielders. In that way, I think the numbers undervalue Lee's defensive adeptitude.
  16. Dang, and here I was expecting them to say he was the third best at his POSITION.
  17. Man, I love those dark blue jerseys.
  18. ditto.
  19. How did Ryu get up to #5? I don't remember him doing anything especially impressive that didn't involve killing birds the last couple of years, though he had a very solid season last year. Am I missing something, or has the system just regressed that much?
  20. Something really amuses me about the phrase "NRI Roster."
  21. It may not be that out of character--he's never walked a lot--but this is taking things to the extreme. In all of the above seasons mentioned but one, he had anywhere form 100-150 fewer plate appearances. 500+ at-bats and just barely single digit walks? For a player of his overall ability? That's crazy.
  22. I was looking over some stats trying to prep for fantasy league drafts, and saw something that made no sense to me. What in the world happened to Pudge? I mean I knew he didn't have a great year, but GEEZ. .276/.290/.444? ELEVEN WALKS IN 504 ATBATS?! Against 93 strikeouts? Is that even possible?! If anybody wants a reason not to spend big money on a free agent catcher over 30, well, there's your answer, I guess.
  23. Wondering, is this still open?
  24. Why? Our pitching is MUCH Better, and. . Pierre is Loften (maybe better) of 03 Walk is Walk DLee is Sammy of 03 Ramirez is Alou of 03 Murton is Ramirez of 03 and Barret is Dlee of 03 Our offense isn't really much "worse" as a pesimist might put it, DLee and Ramirez of 03 were not yet the DLee and Ramirez they are today. And we have a couple youngesters which are going to do very good this year, as well aside from Prior and Wood having carreer years, we really didn't have much else in the pitching. Look, you can be a bitter Cubs fan if you want to. But don't bring it my way!! Wohooo!! Go CUBS!! You guys do realize that Lee was a Marlin in '03, right?
