I also read that attendance was down last season in Italy, and that Italian soccer is in terrible shape. Which is weird, since Italy and AC Milan won both major competitions the past 2 years. Yeah, Collina is the designator. Some of the guys at the big clubs aren't happy about that. it surprises me that they have such an air of impunity that they can bitch about the best ref Italy has ever seen getting the designator job. And yeah, Italy has had an attendance problem for a while now. Pretty much none of the teams sell out, except for derbies. it's partially due to the seating arrangements, which suck (tons of expensive seats that nobody buys), it's partially due to the danger of the tifosi, and it's partially due to the fact that Italians are really, really jaded.
