  1. That is an absurdly foolish claim. WHIP=H+BB/IP 9 singles+ 0 BB/9 IP=1.0 WHIP 9 HR + 0 BB/9 IP=1.0 WHIP Next. Case closed. Let's pick players by how fast they can get to first.
  2. Well, I'm the guy that does this type of operation. I was pretty accurate in my statement of inference 8) This is a message board any one can say anything. I haven't ready anyone making declaritve statements about being a medical expert except for one person. Whether this person is actually a medical expert or not has not been demonstrated. If the person is, it is much better to edify then the criticize. When do they teach bedside manner in medical school anyway? I think the people who posted about Wood's condition were attempting to give the best information that they could given what they know about wood's condition. Enough with the owned crap. I didn't say anything about anyone getting owned. One guy posted a smart-ass statement with that stupid  and tommyjohn, from his posts, clearly had a level of understanding beyond a laymen. Or he stayed in a Holiday Inn Express. The guy who  did get owned, but that's ok, this is the first time I said it. Besides, we all know that the word is PWNED
  3. If you play that Steve Goodman song, "Dying Cub Fan's Last Request", backwards on a turntable, there's a section at the end where I swear it says "Mark is dead." I'm just glad that people still know who Steve Goodman is! I live 1 block off of "Steve Goodman Way" btw... Steve Goodman wrote the perfect country and western song Not at first. He only wrote the last verse later on after David Allan Coe told him it wasn't yet the perfect country and western song.
  4. It is. Sharing the fact what wasn't what I took issue with. The commentary upon it was. Seems like someone needs a vented helmet. Did I mention I'm bored to tears at work?
  5. Actually that was Dock Ellis http://www.gettingit.com/article/691
  6. Why Dempsey in the middle? Also, good article on Italy's national team: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story?id=360907&root=worldcup&campaign=fp&src=360907&cc=5901 he distributes very well, and Donovan and Beasley are quicker/slashier in my opinion. Also, he's shown that he can hold the ball in the face of the defense fairly well, and draws free kicks well also. Note: I'm currently enamored with the Roma system employed by Luciano Spalletti, which looks very similar to this. Less traditional target men up front and more runs from attacking midfielders results in more difficult marking jobs for the opposing defense. Another note: If Christian Vieri makes the Azzurri, its a total waste of a roster space. it's a much better idea to put Inzaghi or Cassano on the team. Don't despair that Arena wouldn't try a goofy alignment if he thought it would give his team an advantage. IIRC in the Round of 16 game vs Mexico in Korea he so confused Mexico by starting Reyna on a wing and playing a 3-6-1 that they subbed a player off in the 8th minute to try and counter the formation. I do recall that now. Maybe he will try it. I don't think it's that goofy an alignment, I think it really plays to the strengths of the team.
  7. Indeed. As a Roma fan, I obviously agree with this.
  8. Actually, I just looked it up, and in Germany the first division is the Bundesliga. So we're looking at the level below the top. Read about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bundesliga_scandal_of_2005
  9. So is this like the equivalent of minor league or independant league baseball, or maybe arena football? Or is this like MLB and NFL? I'm not 100% on the state of the German League, but I think its probably minor league baseball; certainly not MLB level. In Germany it goes Bundesliga>1st division>second division
  10. link What?!? Hooray! Our uninjured and completely healthy pitcher may make his first slated start, which is in a month! I certainly believe in everything the Cubs say in regards to injuries!
  11. Does this get your hopes up at all? http://cubs.scout.com/2/503956.html Which two teams are they putting in 5th and 6th? I'll assume Cincinnati is one of them. Houston or Milwaukee? My assumption is Houston. This article is the second of three, each of which covers 2 NL central teams. The first article puts the Cardinals in first and the Reds in fifth or sixth. The second article puts the Brew crew 3rd and the Pirates 4th. So it's either us or Houston getting put down on the bottom.
  12. I could have read further. Weren't there also some German refs who got busted? The arrests are the latest in a growing scandal that has involved at least five Belgian teams. Last month a former coach of Lierse admitted he fixed two matches because his family was threatened. He and two former Lierse players were sacked by their new teams. Belgian investigators have also said they intend to arrest a Chinese businessman in connection with the scandal and have asked Britian and Finland for permission to extend their enquires into those countries. yes. They fixed German second-division games, IIRC.

  14. I watched for about 2 minutes until Bernie Williams hit a "clutch" fly ball that the Dutch leftfielder misplayed into a double, which was immediately followed by the commentators fawning over Bernie, and I had to turn it off.
  15. My USMNT lineup (not that it will happen, since it's a formation Bruce has never used): ------------------ Keller ---------------------------- -- Cherundolo -- Pope -- Onyewu --- Lewis -- ----------- Reyna ------ Mastroeni/O'Brien ----- -- Donovan ----- Dempsey ----- Beasley------ ------------------- McBride ------------------------
  16. BRANDON SING (1) OFF JULIO MATEO IN THE 3RD BRANDON SING (2) OFF DAVE BURBA IN THE 4TH Sadly, this will not change Dusty's mind about anything. Grissom is on the team, barring one of his legs being cut off. Ok, who's gonna bite the bullet and cut one of his legs off, then?
  17. Yep, I tend to agree with him on most of the points. Also, your link took me to another article. here's my link to the same article if anyone else has trouble http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story?id=360511&root=us&cc=5901 Whoops! I must have been clicking about and messed up. Have you been readin the articles where Arena gets angry at the European press for continually asking him about Adu? Classic stuff, really. yeah. I don't blame him. The questions are ridiculous
  18. Yep, I tend to agree with him on most of the points. Also, your link took me to another article. here's my link to the same article if anyone else has trouble http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story?id=360511&root=us&cc=5901
  19. Want me to hold you?
  20. But Seth, the point is that he's not going to be throwing while his knee is healing. This torpedoes any shot of him being ready in April. Adding 3 weeks to an already vague timetable for return isn't good. Meh. it'll let him do upper body drills and ease off on the "throwing off the mound to show everyone he's alright" crap. I wasn't planning on him being ready for April anyway. The part that really sucks is that this is a ready-made excuse for the Cubs brass when asked why Wood didn't get shut down earlier last year. "he woulda made it in time for the start of the season if it wasn't for that knee cleanup." Don't buy that argument when you read it later.
  21. Does this just cover new problems, or can we freak out when old problems don't go away? You can freak out when the old problems don't go away.
  22. People, stop freaking out about minor arthroscopic knee surgery. It's got a 2-3 week recovery time. Everyone gets it nowadays. it's vogue. When he starts having problems with his arm again, then you should freak out.
  23. IIRC, beasley played wide left and Donovan played support striker, usually to the right of McBride.
