  1. I know that, dude. But to me, he's eating this attention up. And for the record, I think he's coming to the Cubs.
  2. He's relishing all this attention. He can't get enough of it. From the dogs name, to the hiding out and having covert meetings, to threatening teams not to choose them if they talk. It's narcissistic if you ask me. Extreme self involvement.
  3. No other FA went in to hiding. No other FA made everything a secret. No other FA threatened teams with not selecting them if they spoke of their time with him. I'm not responding on the matter anymore after this. It's not you at all. It's just going to cause problems on this page.
  4. You really don't see any difference? Ok....
  5. This is true! But it is my conclusion. It may not be the right one, and it may not be the wrong one.
  6. We'll just disagree. Be a FA, pick a team, and play baseball. He's getting more attention this way though. Which I'd bet he relishes. You don't have to be on TV to get attention. He plays in LA. He's eating this up.
  7. I'm referring to the response to the tweet.
  8. Nah. I'm just a regular fan who like to follow the biggest sports story of the year. I think it's unprofessional as an athlete to hide out and threaten teams not to choose them if they leak out anything. I don't expect him to do anything different than any other FA. Just be a FA, and pick a team. I will say this though. I can't imagine that he's not loving all this attention he's getting while hiding out. To each his own. As a fan, I don't like it. That's all.
  9. Thank you for posting this.
  10. Are you implying that he doesn't LOVE all this attention that he's getting by hiding out? He's played in LA for 6 years and is the biggest thing in the city! He LOVES the attention.
  11. Hiding and threatening teams to not pick them if they talk about it is the joke. Fans don't expect to be entertained by them in the winter. But at least for me, I don't expect the way he's acted either. It's just awful to do, and he's actually gone out of his way to do it. Just be a FA and stop acting like some eccentric prim Donna. This is a good way for a player to lose fans. Also, hiding out and ignoring the media is very unprofessional.
  12. I certainly don't expect them to feel like they have to entertain us fans in December. But I certainly don't expect a player to hide, and make threats of not picking them if a team talked about their meetings. It's just so bad. At least for me it is. It's a ridiculous dog and pony show. It's a great way for fans to dislike the player and the winter meetings. Which we all look forward to from the time the season ends. I'll stay on this hill alone about not liking the way that he's handled this.
  13. The LeBron thing was a self involved disgrace by him. Nobody wants that. But the point is to just let it play out like a free agent signing does. I mean, it's reported that teams were threatened that they would be out if they talked. Now THAT'S a joke! Should we assume that you are enjoying these winter meetings as a fan ?
  14. This is a blown opportunity to celebrate the sport https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/39049998/shohei-ohtani-secret-free-agency-mlb-dodgers-blue-jays?fbclid=IwAR3YWFEmjwbiWi0E01zj5iKQmx9cUxoa7q6EO-1l3Rfv3rN0TgE_lVMTfC8
  15. I'm certainly not bashing him for wanting the process to be covert. I'm saying that if the meeting already happened, and the whole world already know the LAD are the favorites, I don't see how he could hold it against a team after the fact. It's not like Roberts said that "we will be meeting with Ohtani." He said that they met already. I don't see an issue with that. I would however see an issue with him talking about a meeting before it happened, if Ohtani doesn't want that.
  16. My feeling is that leading up to anything Ohtani, and during anything Ohtani is what they want kept a secret. After it happens, I not so sure it matters anymore. 1908 pointed out to see how the Dodgers reacted to Roberts's comment. I have to see it
  17. The more it's reported that the Cubs are fading, the more I believe that they are gaining strength.
  18. I think the whole secrecy crap is being blow way out of proportion. To me, he doesn't want people to know where, when, and for how long he's meeting with teams. He wants it kept under wraps. After the meeting happened, I don't think it matters anymore. If he doesn't go to the Dodgers because Roberts said that they had a meeting after the fact, maybe there's something wrong with Ohtani.
  19. I expect the Cubs to be in on several guys, before, during, and after they signed Ohtani. I'm not saying that your logic doesn't makes sense. I just believe zero of what I'm reading with this FA. Zero.
  20. I'm remaining optimistic. Because nobody has any legit or accurate information up to this point, the more I hear that they are out, the more I feel that they are getting stronger.
  21. If he's really a creature of habit, and doesn't like radical changes, why hasn't he already signed with the Dodgers or go back to the Angels? Not challenging you at all, but up to this very moment, it doesn't seem important to him. Nobody know what he wants.
  22. Six years ago, the west coast was a huge preference for O. How do you know that it's still a preference? The only thing that's been reported about geography is, it's not an issue this time around. I'm not suggesting he prefers or doesn't prefer the west coast. I'm saying that after 6 years in Cali, we don't know how much he likes, or dislikes it.
  23. I think that this makes much more sense. If they sign him, they are at the 1st level of the CBT. I'd guess that they are going to go by the 3rd level. Or at least to it. They can't just throw him 50 million at O, and do nothing else. This is going to be a huge off season. I hope????
  24. Translation: The Cubs are getting close to signing Ohtani.
