To me, this is the obvious thing to do. And they really don't need to get much back. It's just opening up roster spot(s) and getting something instead of nothing.
If he has a 4 win season again, do you thing he opts out of 30 million? I know that Boras will tell him to, but I think it should take a 5 win season for him to be wise to opt out. There's a lot of 4 win players out there, and without looking I would imagine that a high percentage don't make 30 million.
I think that Happ should have been leading against RHP for the past 2-3 years. I think it's a done deal now. Against LHP, I'd either give him the day off, or hit him in the bottom 3rd of the order.
I'm 4 miles from the Twins ST, and tickets start at $13, and max out at $35. I'm 8 miles from the Red Sox ST, and depending on the game, they start at $10, and go up to $47.
I've gone to several Twins A ball games, and the the front row was $9
I agree with this. They do the same thing over and over every year in ST. They don't need a baby sitter to do any of that. I personally think that the only thing that MAY be behind a bit, is hitter's timing.
I'm in Fort Myers, and I've been heading over to the Twins ST to take in a little action. They are jogging a little. A little stretching. Playing catch. Batting cages. Fly balls and ground balls hit to them. Bull pen action. Typical stuff that they can do on their own. I think the whole, "not being ready" stuff is way over blown.
Counsell is very excited to work with Wesneski. I think he's the favorite to get the 5th spot. I think he has to do terrible to not win the job. Also, I don't personally like 3 LHP in a rotation of 5. When Horton joins the team, I think that's when they go to a full 6 man rotation.
I should have also mentioned approach. Yes, I agree with this. But if it's primarily not being able to time a major league fastball, or recognize a major league breaking ball, I still think that the only place he can get that taken care of is against major league pitching.
