  1. Why would someone even bother to make that? Did they really enjoy 2004 so much they thought it should be memorialized forever?
  2. With the way this season is ending it's going to be real hard to get excited for next year.
  3. I'm just gonna throw out a wild theory with no evidence to back this up, but remember a couple months ago when that sports psychologist guy died? The guy who was always in the Cubs clubhouse? Is this when the team lost confidence? Does Mr. Burns need to hire a hypnotist to tell these guys to play 110% even though by definition 100% is the most that you can give.
  4. The Cubs could clinch a playoff spot with a win. I'm not sure if anyone would really be excited about that, but it's something I guess...
  5. 2016 is what makes me able to find this funny and entertaining in a fun-bad way. Jesus, can you even imagine how miserable the last two years would have been if the Cubs lost game 7?
  6. I'll be there on Friday and I (selfishly) want that game to matter. The Cubs can clinch before that but I want the Cards battling to stay alive. Go Rockies.
  7. The game right after we clinch. I'm good with it. I'd rather see the Cubs sweep the Cards and keep them out of the playoffs.
  8. The Bears and the Cubs being good in the same year is so incredibly rare. I think the last time they both made the playoffs in the same year was 1984. 89 was the only year over an 8 year span the Bears failed to make the playoffs, then the Bears were mostly bad until 2005 and 2006 which is during the 3 year gap between the 03 Cubs and the 07-08 division champs. Edit: Just looked it up. The ONLY 2 calendar years where the Cubs and Bears both made the playoffs in the same year are 1984 and 1932. Were talking 2 of the very oldest franchises in their respective sports. Crazy I guess the Bears are screwed then. Nah. This just means they're due.
  9. Did they do it in 2008? The Bears won their first game in 2008 so they were either in first or tied for first.
  10. When’s the last time the Cubs and Bears were both in first place? Edit: Looks like September 7, 2008
  11. Eh, I kinda get it from a player perspective. He can only really say so much here. It's above his paygrade, so to speak. That should have been his answer, not criticizing the people doing the investigation. Came very close to 'I have no idea why this hasn't been wrapped up already'. "Witch hunt. Fake news. No collusion."
  12. An abundance of caution. Giving him an extra day of rest cuz he was pulled with a sore back last game. Oh yeah. I somehow forgot about that.
  13. Is there a reason why they pushed Lester back?
  14. If I've learned one thing over the past month, it's that bearded Murphy and smooth Hamels is much much better than the opposite.
  15. Ya know... I guess I'm not too stressed. We can definitely still win this game, but even if we don't we're up 2.5 games with ten to go (nine for the VB's). If you'd told me after Sunday we'd still be up 2.5 at this point I'd have been happy.
  16. Also... they stopped the car and ran across traffic to pick up the banner before they knew what it was? This seems sketchy...
  17. When the Cubs play the Sox this weekend, it might be without Abreu... https://deadspin.com/jose-abreus-had-a-run-of-bad-luck-with-his-groin-area-1829182587
  18. I feel like the team probably would give them tickets or something... but this guy sounds like such a douche with his "we need to negotiate here"... uhh no you don't. This is not your property. You have to give it back.
  19. We blame Joe for not putting in Rizzo as promised.
  20. I hope this isn't against board rules but I've got a couple upper deck tickets for Cubs/Sox on Saturday that I'm not going to be able to use. I won't even ask for money; you just have to meet up with me so I can hand them over. I live in West Lakeview and I work downtown so either way works. DM me.
  21. Is Heyward hurt again or did Joe just want to get him out since this game's basically over?
  22. If we win tomorrow (or the Brewers lose tomorrow) we'll be up 3.5 with all our remaining games in Chicago. This feels good.
  23. He's definitely hitting the ball harder lately.
