  1. I know we all love dongs but Southisene is fun man
  2. FWIW his velocity in ST was lower than it's been since back before he broke out in the mid '10s. He's probably cooked but hey so was Drew Pomeranz
  3. One thing I'll say is it was harder for me to cut down to 20 than the back half of last year IMO you know things are thin when you're putting DSL guys or fairly generic relievers at Iowa in your top 20. Ideally those guys should start showing up around 30.

  5. The other Southisene brother is playing against MB and leading off and just briefly made me think I was having a stroke when I recognized 0 other names in the lineup after him
  6. Another double for Mathis. Even just looking at SB, 13 of his 18 hits are for extra bases and he's ISOing .276
  7. Ha! I was thinking a compromise like take your favorite bat at 23 and then go all pitching from there but this is a fun turn into the skid Yeah 2022 is so weird because in one sense they nailed it but in another sense it's looking pretty dire and in a 3rd sense like 70% of Michael Busch or whatever we want to credit to Ferris' specific trade value isn't the worst outcome from a draft even if it's paired with little else. Right now I'm aghast at the idea of trading Wing instead of a bat but the numbers say trade 'em while you've got 'em.
  8. Yeah I'm really intrigued by the strategy piece for this upcoming draft. I'm finding myself torn between: "The system needs lots of arms, we've got Zombro now so obviously let's do another 2022 draft" and "The team largely nailed the evaluation piece in 2022 and yet we're still not going to end up with much to show for it because atteition is such a horsefeathers, so why would we do that again?"
  9. Rea did....something....last September to start missing more bats and has been legitimately great since? Since 9/7/25: 12 games, 61.1 IP, 25.5% K, 5.2% BB, 48.3% GB, 3.23 ERA, 2.98 xFIP Like that's legitimate ace level pitching. I obviously don't think he's going to keep *that* up but I am wondering if he's legitimately more mid-rotationy than bottom-rotationy.
  10. Braves are really good, and obviously it's even tougher on the road. Just try to get 1/3 and get out of there Holmes and Ritchie are both pretty meh, so these first two games are much more winnable than Thursday.
  11. There's not any sort of "under the hood he's been good actually" or "one weird trick to fix him", but I've generally like Eric Lauer in the past. With his DFA he'd be a guy I'd be pretty into buying low on assuming we could get him to Iowa.
  12. I think they had him for a bit last year? He never made it into any games with Iowa but I could swear. Makes sense with Wright's setback though. The Iowa staff has already been thinned out significantly.
  13. Trice's groundballs are down and contact is up, and I don't know about exit velos but feels like the power has always been there. He should probably live towards the very end of a Top 30.
  14. For sure, he'd definitely have to be an offseason move. I'd want to have Kelly locked down and also Ayers in a position where he's a phonecall away (or pretty close).
  15. You know with all the talk around trading surplus young bats for starting pitching feels like there's a scenario where Amaya makes sense to be moved? Carson Kelly is really good, and even as age catches up with him you'd expect him to still play strong D and hit lefties. Heading into next season with Kelly/Mo/3rd catcher at the MLB level and Ayers/Armas at Iowa I'd feel fantastic about the catcher position for both the short and long term.
  16. We're roughly a quarter of the through the season and he's still on a 55 homer pace and yet a lot of people are *desperate* to get rid of him
  17. Obviously he needs to progress to the point he can sneak the occasional ball over the wall but man he's way improved YoY. BB/K is over 1, he's playing shortstop now, the power is now "bad" as opposed to "pathetic." And he's still just 20.
  18. I've noticed he doesn't show up in FG chats anymore and he didn't have any comments on the Cubs prospect list article so I suspect he's been banned there too
  19. Christian Olivo raised his OPS by like 130 points with his big game tonight I know he's not the biggest prospect but he's (now) hitting and is age appropriate and provides some defensive value. That's usually the trajectory of a high end reserve infielder.
  20. This Dawson Netz situation is nutz (I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm trying to delete it)
  21. I would have done Barnes or especially Wicks but I like Roberts a lot so I won't complain. He got shafted by that freak air conditioner accident in Philly.
  22. I used the ASB, so 7/18. Since then he's got a .266/.318/.506 line (127 wRC+) in 293 PAs. It's probably not fully earned, there's some xwOBA shenanigans like you call out (though worth noting the ASB is when he started doing his Isaac Paredes pulled fly ball impression) and he's overindexed against LHP. But he's also 24 and presumably still improving. Let's call him, especially by April 1 of next year, a true talent 110 wRC+ and +5 COF defender? Stylistically different but that's not too far off of Ian Happ. I'm fine moving Shaw, I think just in the past few days I wrote something on the minor league forum about us being in a pick 2 situation with Shaw/Alcantara/Ramirez and me preferring the latter two. But assuming he doesn't tank over the next five months I view Shaw as a viable backfill for one of those corner spots heading into next year.
  23. And has a 127 wRC+ in a shade under 300 PAs going back to last ASB
  24. Texas has to this point in the season been the worst team in the league against LHP. And that tracks too when you think about Seager, Joc, Nimmo, etc. Basically I think you let Brown go as far as he can, then you hand it over to Rolison for as far as he can go, and then you either go Wicks if things are going poorly or to your short relievers if they're going well. Save Assad for later in the weekend when you need length?
