  1. This is what I've been saying What would you guys expect the cost to be?
  2. I bet that's the largest jump in Oswing over 2 seasons you will find possibly ever. That's absolutely crazy. And for a guy right in his prime, not past it. He basically said, horsefeathers it, I'm not letting so many possibly hittable pitches go by this year, and ended up with the same results LOL Good stuff Shoot, sorry, you actually said it's the most extreme shift in PD since they started tracking it. This is fascinating.
  3. It's obviously a longshot but I also feel the possibility is there to acquire JV for the next year and a half and pay 10m or so after 2018 to flip him and clear more room for FA. Just a thought.
  4. I'm guessing the Tigers would want to pay at least some of it to acquire a couple prospects. I think that's the only way to really allow themselves to tell their fan base that they traded Verlander. Regardless of what he is now (which still seems very good), he's a legend there. Just basically "selling" him couldn't go over well. But, I mean, if the Tigers paid some of it... would we really care about giving up a couple of these prospects to get Verlander? But yeah this is what was so great about the value of the Quintana deal is it allows something like this (especially with all the money coming off the books). Fwiw, Crasnick says the Brewers want Kinsler and that Detroit would prefer to package Wilson with him and get salary relief over the better prospect package. I think the reason we are linked so heavily with Detroit is that we can easily see their asking price and not harm the short or future outlook at all. I also think they would like to have Candy and Zagunis so they can plug them right in as they retool.
  5. I'm kind of really thrilled with taking a pitcher in the 11th round who barely started in college (low mileage) and having him run a 2.5 FIP as a starter in his first 1/3 of a full season. 4 pitches he can command - we need more guys like that right now, IMO.
  6. Jose Altuve is hitting 450/500/700 over his last 150 PA
  7. Almora vs the LHP was the biggest no brainer in the history of mankind
  8. Was it really necessary to use a thousand OLs because I got a first name wrong? You that desperate to be a little troll [expletive]? No I wasn't even referencing the name. Your doom boner kills me because it's completely unwarranted yet you keep going to the well. Meh, it's not a doom boner. I'm just commenting on how they should be thrashing this JAG.
  9. Lololololol Was it really necessary to use a thousand OLs because I got a first name wrong? You that desperate to be a little troll puss?
  10. This is surprising given the theme around the board over the last 2 days
  11. Do you really want our catcher pissing off umpires? No I don't want professional umpires to be horsefeathering petty
  12. I think some people should study what high leverage situations are before they go trolling in a circlejerk.
  13. Alzolay had a very nice start again 6 IP 5H 0ER 5:1
  14. Can you refute that he hasn't had many hits in HLS this year? That was the original point.
  15. The pissed off comment was at the ump admitting he might develop a bias if Willson pisses him off
  16. horsefeathers are you guys talking about? I'm not freaking out over anything.
  17. Rogers chimes in http://www.espn.com/blog/chicago/cubs/post/_/id/45067/is-willson-contreras-becoming-the-most-valuable-cub This part made me laugh but also pissed me off a bit And this has been my biggest gripe with him this season. It will get better but right now it is not where we need it to be and has affected the pitching quite a bit. He has to get a better read of the location of the pitch out of the pitchers hand. Too often he catches low pitches that catch the bottom of the zone as if they are headed for the dirt, and he tends to catch the high strike with too much movement. Those borderline calls that we have not been seeing this year have been a bit due to his inexperience but that's ok. That stuff will get better over time. What he's done in the last couple seasons to get this far is nothing short of spectacular. Also, with Miggy, Jake's era was mid-6 and with Willy it's under 3.
  18. While this is true, it's not like you had much to choose from for 2017. He has 4 hits and a 138 BA, 214 wOBA (0 XBH) in HLS this year. That's got to improve, and I'm hoping yesterday is the start of that, and he can get back to 2015 status where he was his usual wrecking ball self.
