  1. in my mind, yes. in reality? no idea. I just remember thinking they were obsessed with sac bunts, and in one year at least they led the league by a wide margin. Led the division both of his full seasons, 2nd one had 34 more than the next closest team. Holy horsefeathers, horsefeathering ridiculous.
  2. He didn't get his contact up over 60% until 4/26. Since then he's been at 74%. Since he adjusted his leg kick he's become something like prime Cabrera with a much closer to Iowa Willy K rate of 17%. It doesn't make a lot of sense for this guy to post K rates of 24ish after being at 11 and 13 his last 2 years in the minors, so I'm thinking he will settle in below 20 and thrive in this juiced era or whatever you wanna call it. He's gonna find a lot of barrels.
  3. Someone who can come up with a clever thread title should start the Contreras thread. Kind of shocking he doesn't have one yet (that I can find). He was just named player of the week for the NL.
  4. Did he really call bunts that much?
  5. And cut that pinche Spider when the dog was belly up
  6. There was a picture that surfaced recently of Ian laughing in the dugout and I'm fairly certain the poor soul that posted it became another notch in his killing spree
  7. I considered that
  8. I say a good bit of unwise stuff but some members still treat me with a dash of decency. Don't worry about that crap and join in whenever you want to. There's a lot of great discourse happening on this site.
  9. He was minimizing damage but he wasn't really having that good of a season
  10. Is that Arnett? I don't memorize every little scene of every show I watch like you guys do.
  11. Jesus the dude in the yellow is really ruining that gif with his never-ending pelvic thrust
  12. Ugh, I know. What's happened? I've never watched him pitch so I really don't know but the easy answer would be that he doesn't have the stuff to fool guys consistently at that level. Just a lot of balls put in play and so many walks probably means they have no problem identifying and laying off his secondaries and his fastball command has been crap. One thing that should be pointed out is he's a heavy flyball pitcher but is doing a pretty good job of keeping the ball in the yard. What's his out pitch?
  13. Dreaming on this guy when he was tearing up Iowa was fun but I was thinking realistically maybe he was a 110 wRC+ type and if he were to become the best offensive Catcher in baseball it would be 5 or so years down the road.
  14. Miserable season for Clifton continues
  15. I hadn't actually looked at Walker's season in detail and now I see that he had an injury and has done his own disappearing act since returning. So he doesn't make any sense.
  16. What do you guys think about trading for Neil Walker? Mets fans think he'll go soon in a waiver deal.
  17. I forget the exact date of the injury but IIRC (Duke cited the date a couple wks ago) it was some time in the last week of May. If we draw the line at 5/26 that gives him 162 PA before the injury and 162 PA after. Before: 261/352/458 After: 184/280/270 It sure seems like this dude should have stayed on the DL and not just protected against LHP. We all know how tricky wrist injuries can be. I refuse to believe age caught up with him after he posted a 380 OBP as a 35 year old, and has been having a rather great year defensively at 2B. It's probably safe to say that that wrist won't heal this season if he keeps trying to play through it, but it's also possible that it won't heal in time for the playoffs even with rest. But I don't think we should be taking that chance. Do you think he should be shut down for the season? I know it would mean a whole lot of Seal Boy, but at this point, Zo has been immeasurably uglier to watch. It's obviously doing no good trying to play through it.
