  1. Well Jonny has matched his out total from last start already
  2. Pitcher Chad Kuhl just killed Stephen Vogt on a home plate collision Unfortunately Kuhl was out. But that was an elbow to the temple.
  3. horsefeathering guy swings at everything. Hopefully some day Javy starts catching as many barrels as he does (or did in the past)
  4. I don't like how low his floor is but damn he is looking mighty appealing as a 5th guy right now that could easily bounce back and be a big part of the next 2 years rotation.
  5. Holy crap he seems like a September call now
  6. Plenty of velo at 94.9 for Cingrani. I just haven't considered the inter-division trade really. But I'd be all over that.
  7. Yeah that's who it's most likely to be, I'm thinking. Torres is intriguing. Young, tons of team control, decent walk rates over the years. His secondary stuff hasn't rated well but they haven't been awful either. Looks like something to work with. Pazos would be awesome but being that the Ms are right in the race he's not likely to go anywhere.
  8. Here's the list of relievers with 10+ IP this year and an average fastball velocity of 95+ mph from the left side. Aroldis Chapman Yankees Enny Romero Nationals Felipe Rivero Pirates James Pazos Mariners Jose Alvarado Rays Jose Torres Padres Josh Osich Giants Justin Wilson Tigers Wandy Peralta Reds Zach Britton Orioles Thanks TT Do you (or anyone else) know of some near-ready prospects in that same respect?
  9. My name is 9 and I'm slightly obsessed with power LHP and would like one for longer than a half season or a season and a half. So I've been thinking, the Pirates unearthed a total gem in Felipe Rivero, whom they got for Melancon. The potential to dominate was there due to having a fb regularly topping 97 (98.7 average this season) and now he sits with an ERA under 1 in about 50 IP. Fantastic job of scouting by PIT. The Nats also have Enny Romero who has been decent but not godly, but does have a fb sitting at 97. They got him in a 1-1 with the Rays for a pitcher they probably won't miss much. These types are highly rare but they're out there, is the point I'm making with this ramble. You guys have a much wider knowledge on prospect arms and just pitchers in general who are out there and what their profile looks like. Who is a guy who could maybe be had cheap (especially compared to Britton or Hand) that brings the gas from the LH side? The less established, poised to break out player, much like Rivero was. The Pirates will have him for a long while. I want a guy like that.
  10. I feel like the Dodgers would destroy that offer for Britton alone but sign me the horsefeathers up.
  11. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/projecting-the-prospects-in-the-jose-quintana-trade/ KATOH is thinking we possibly fleeced the Sox
  12. Yep the super rare double homer, or something. Not even sure how to call it.
  13. Alzolay was human tonight 5 IP 3 ER 2:2
  14. [emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23]
  15. The Tigers almost certainly would've taken Eloy and Cease for Fullmer! Why didn't Theo think of that?! Just shaddupp
  16. Probably equivalent to us giving up Rondon, Candy, Zagunis or something right? For 4 years of Dangling Shoulder and 2 of Madson, that's a hell of a trade for their pen.
  17. Lackey is going to be overrated and Montgomery is going to be underrated by metrics that try to normalize batted ball profiles. Montgomery is very hard to square up and gets a lot of groundballs, while Lackey is a strike thrower who has lost a tick and is now in an environment where more strikes than ever end up at or over the fence. Montgomery isn't perfect, and he hasn't seized the starting chance like I hoped he might, but he is still easily the 5th best SP we have. Lackey has to accept that the ball is juiced and stop throwing pitches away. Focus on every single pitch. When in the past he would get pop flies, now they're leaving the yard. It feels like a lot of those HR have come on first pitch fastballs down the pipe. Blatant arrogance. But with Monty, like most 5th starters, his numbers the 2nd time through the order are really bad across the board. I'm more confident that Lackey can get closer to his previous levels ('15-16 especially) than Monty can navigate through lineups multiple times more consistently. He just doesn't have the control and command of his fastball for me. And I've already stated how much I want him in the long role. With this staff (although I admit maybe things are turning especially with the add of Q, Jake's last 11 starts, and Kyle's imminent return) usually unable to go deep, he protects the pen a lot. When he gets shelled, our pen gets burnt. I think I prefer going outside the organization for that spot but if they choose not to, I think Lackey should get it.
