  1. Stupid scared clueless Dodgers fan trying to convince the thread that the Cubs already traded all their top prospects
  2. Nicasio claimed by the... Phillies
  3. Flashes of Mr Coach Klein watching lowlights in Waterboy "And there's an easy-out. Oh look, the SS fumbles the ball, and oh, he has time to pick it up, pump fake, pat his glove, and lob the ball to the 1B and beat him by multiple steps"
  4. Well, they literally haven't worn the white on white combo since the disastrous week 1 in 2009, where cutler threw 4 or 5 picks in his debut and urlacher was lost for the season. i actually miss that. and i remember the lovie bears hating the blue/blue combo because they always seemed to get their asses kicked when they wore it. i think that's their color rush combo now, which they appear to be wearing vs green bay this year. I don't pay much attention to this stuff but that is nuts. I love the white on white and the superstitious bullcrap just makes me chuckle. I'm really surprised to hear that was the last time we wore that combo.
  5. Oscar pitched 3.1 and gave up 2 hits with a 4:1 Very solid return.
  6. That would be horsefeathering great. And he'd also up his FA stock by getting WS experience.
  7. Oh I am going to drop that on Dave in his next chat I actually asked him in a chat a couple weeks ago if Cubs fans should care that KB hits like a relief pitcher in HLS and he never replied to the question. Seems like he definitely read it and took it to heart. I gotta call him out for that.
  8. Reading this article http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/would-chris-hayes-get-a-hit-in-a-full-season-of-play/ Led to this NEIFI Analytics just feels like the biggest oxymoron ever.
  9. Yeah that's not what I said though. Maybe I'm not reading the situation correctly but isn't xFIP basically saying, wait a minute, his HRs should be higher given all the flyballs he's allowed? I'm basically saying his HR/FB% is getting back into vintage Jake range (7% in 2nd half and 2% in August) so that's not some random fluke or anomaly. His HR suppression was one of his signatures during his peak. Yeah, xFIP is a pretty bad stat. And it is even worse in this era, when the ball is flying out of the park, since the ability to suppress home runs is even more important. Just because a stat is better than ERA, on the whole, doesn't mean it's actually a good stat. And we have a ton of data showing that certain pitchers are able to limit exit velocity, and that limiting exit velocity limits home runs. So for Dave Cameron to randomly throw that and only that out when he horsefeathering writes at Fangraphs is pretty dumb. How did he actually do with xwoba this month? Interesting to note that by strictly batted ball data for this season he induced his lowest amount of soft contact this month, but line drives (nebulous stat) were way down, and he did not allow hitters to pull him much. I was surprised to see his GB% hasn't increased much in the 2nd half.
  10. If Russell hadn't gotten hurt I believe we would have had 6 under 25 with 20 and that's a record that would be nearly impossible to break. As more teams try to replicate the Cubs Way and if the HR keep exploding league wide something tells me within the next few years there will be another team with 5.
  11. The Score reports an unknown team tried to claim Cozart and the Reds pulled him back Gotta be us or the Cards. Although I don't know what his compensation would look like if they let him walk. I just can't see why they wouldn't trade him.

  13. His HR/FB% might seem out of whack, xFIP, but that's vintage Jake, so suck it
  14. He horsefeathering told the world this was coming and he just flipped the switch almost immediately. I really feel like he's gonna throw a 3rd no hitter before the year is up. Probably in the World Series. How many teams do you guys think would offer him 6+ years?
  15. Amazingly, Koji's 2nd half FIP is only a small bit worse than Wade Davis'
  16. Well, that's great news about Floyd. I saw some freak-out speculation that he could have sustained a broken bone in his foot. But I hate seeing that about Eddie.
  17. Random note but it's a goody KB has a 13% K rate in 25 August games while slashing 330/440/560 His K rate is something that I figured would drop significantly once he had more exposure to the pitchers and experience in the league, but he's looking like he could actually get into Rizzo territory, which is nucking futs. For the 2nd half he's at 15 and Rizz is at 17. *cue the low leverage talks
  18. I'd also like to see Carasiti and Hancock maybe. Koji and Rondon have been total horsefeathers lately and we might as well give Joe options aplenty. I expect Hannemann to be the late-inning PR or CF for sure.
  19. Really wanted to keep the 100 win/year pace of the Maddon era but I'll take 91 wins just fine Just do not let 04 reoccur
  20. you better turn out better than we got the whole 9 did with justin wilson on this [emoji28] He's coming around. I'm gonna have to wear that one though.
