  1. Addy made some comments early in the season about focusing on using the middle of the field more and he's had a lot of oppo swings this year where he thought he got all of it only to watch it die at the track. It's good to see him pull the ball again, even if today's homer was a cheapie. His last 40 games have been really good.
  2. i made a post saying i wish we could have a do-over on some whiffs (and yes, i think quintana is a whiff so far), and you're basically saying "oh yeah, what moves did YOU have lined up?". i've said nothing about the process or how the trades appeared at the time. i'm saying i wish they hadn't turned out like this. you have no point. i don't know what you're doing. What’s the do over though? The do over is not making the playoffs last year and holding on to precious Eloy and then doing what? We needed 3 pitchers last year for this year including at least one at the deadline last year for any chance to make the playoffs. We all wish these moves were better to date but we NEEEDED to make 3 moves and I think we made the best moves with what we had to use and what was available. It sucks they haven’t worked but it is what it is and we are still in a great spot if they pitch like they can. People love to say that we should've gone for Verlander but IIRC not many on this board wanted anything to do with him
  3. There's at least 50 hitters who absolutely should not be better than Rizzo right now that are making him look like a scrub
  4. Insane that just last year he was an 18 year old in rookie ball. They promoted him in hyperspeed. And fg only has him as a 50 FV... lol, probably gonna need to reevaluate that. Steamer projections for the dude are otherworldly for a guy with a little more than 300 PA beyond rookie ball.
  5. Load the lineup with lefties against Chacin, they said
  6. Would've been fine with that throw hitting Guerra in the face so we wouldn't have to watch his sloth-like pitching anymore
  7. Isn't that the case on any bang bang play like that though? At any rate, he's fine out there but he's not going to win any Gold Gloves. As long as he hits well the defense is perfectly fine even if it does cost them some runs/outs here and there like in the Cardinals series in STL. There was an inordinate amount of luck there to me but yes to a degree that is the way bang-bang plays go
  8. The throw was great but all the stars aligned perfectly. I mean he got to the ball as quickly as he could, there was no wasted movement, and he fired a strike - but that was still a [expletive] of luck to get the out IMO, and that's not to say there was anything Kyle should have done differently, nor am I trying to discredit him. He has been really making some nice throws though and I couldn't be happier with his evolution as an OF.
  9. I wouldn't say anybody has been freaking out about them, as in lamenting their loss; more of just keeping tabs on them. Soler is brutal in the field, we all know if he doesn't mash he's totally useless. Villanueva and Candelario never had a possible place on the Cubs roster but it doesn't help matters that Wilson completely fell apart after the trade, so people are going to be a little extra upset if Candelario pans out long-term. Nobody felt anything about CV as a Cub and the injury forced our hand anyway. I doubt anybody expected their early success to sustain but they showed more than most people thought they had in store. It bugs the horsefeathers out of me when people bitch about Gleyber's success. That trade was imperative. The bullpen sucked. It was either him or Schwarber for Miller and we lose an integral part of our WS. People bitch more because Russell has scuffled some but those people are still idiots in my eyes. I never liked Gleyber anyway.
  10. Schwarber is hitting 200 this month with a 70% pull rate. It's not garbage.
  11. Really pull happy, lunging across the plate at garbage
  12. Lol I just noticed that they have a +1 RD for the season. Shut out 8 times, matching their total from last season
  13. Terrible base running by Russell. The fielders gave up immediately on Happ's double; no excuse not to score.
  14. http://m.milb.com/video/2037499983#/topic/0/video/2033804083 Lol
  15. Morton continued his Arrietascension Looks like his freaking elbow is ready to punch through his skin
  16. Your math is leaving me an hour short. Rain again at 5 central? What I'm looking at
  17. Looks like in an hour and a half, there's a 2 hour window, then at 6 CST there's more storms, followed by another 2 hour window
