  1. Javy really is an idiot. Take the horsefeathering walk.
  2. Gonna burn the whole pen in a game we led by 9. How pathetic.
  3. Cubs have double the runs as he has recorded outs
  4. It....doesn’t work that way. Does it? Rowan Wick talked about this spring in the lab the Cubs had him try some new curve grips and he took to the knuckler rather quickly because he said you throw it just like a fastball. For a guy with Yu's aptitude I believe it. I think it will permeate across the league and we will start seeing a lot more of them. In the article I read I believe it said theres about 80 pitchers throwing them right now. I bet that number is a lot higher in a couple years.
  5. Can someone provide some context to Montgomery's meh stats last year? The team won 8 games so they weren't bad, they only threw for about 3K so they weren't an air-raid offense I dont think. Montgomery had a 4.7 ypc and only 22 catches for 157 yards. I know college stats aren't everything and sometimes they can be nothing. I like his tape and some of his athletic traits. Just curious.
  6. Ok so then it appears you agree with me that hes likely gonna be a starter on the line and that leaves only 1 spot to be replaced, likely after 2020. That's not really a long reach of hope.
  7. OTOH he had a rough 1st and settled down afterward. Could've been a lot worse.
  8. i choose to view this as a good thing, they're (hopefully) breaking down his wimpy dick swing and reworking it to somehow add loft The only thing worse than soft hit GBs are soft hit FBs Wish Tony Kemp saw this post
  9. Theres a lot of optimism here. 1. Trusting any brain trust to replace 2/5 of a line... (side note, Massie's new deal prerty much ensures he's here next year). A Whitehair extension in the next week would put the line in a decent shape for 2020 though. 2. Gabriel and a couple guys with zero or near zero NFL production replacing AR? Hopefully its the young guys replacing Gabriel if anything. 3. Tolliver, was he active in amy game last year? Again that certainly requires quite a bit of hope. 4. I think you might have exceeded the cap with the guys you just listed (assuming Trubisky is worth a 2nd contract) I said Massie would probably be replaced after next year so I'm not sure the side note was necessary. I really believe in Bars. If he hadn't had the severe injury he was probably a 3rd or 4th round pick, and Hiestand has commended him for his ability to play all across the line. So IMO, 1 replacement is already in house. Depends on if they like him inside or out. The other can be an FA addition to shave a couple mil or a draft pick. But Leno, Whitehair, Daniels is a really solid foundation to build on. Bars has played like a potential starter. Robinson is surely not irreplaceable statistically. Hes more of a prototype or an idea as a go up and get it, wide catch radius type than he is some true number 1 IMO. Is he worth 15m? Not IMO. He has this year to prove he can still be that guy and if hes not then I really dont think hes around for 2020. That's a bad use of resources. On a per game basis, Robinson was meh. But now he has a year in the system and all that jazz so hopefully he explodes. They spent 23 on him, Gabriel, and Burton and got pretty mediocre value back. This year it's over 30. It's all hope. Tolliver was a blue chip prospect. He could be nothing but there's potential there. With Fuller's deal and after Mitch gets money, I don't think you can afford to pay Prince. They could go cheap in FA. Prince is easily cuttable after this season FWIW (1m dead cap). Goldman is also easily cut after 2021. 18m cap hit is huge. The dead is 3 so they save 15 by cutting. I could see a restructure to open cap. Mitch is obviously the key. He needs to take a big step forward this year. The Alex Smith comp is fair. You don't pay top dollar for that type. Itll be interesting to see where his demands are if he's still just decent this year.
  10. There's no way Jackson isn't a Bear for the next 5 years IMO
  11. I could potentially see Bars replacing Massie after next year. It could be him or maybe Long also. I trust Pace and Hiestand to identify and develop the OL enough to believe they could replace both. Some of that money saved will be spent on Whitehair though. Hopefully Gabriel, Miller, Ridley, Wims is enough to move on from Robinson's money then as well. Hell maybe we get lucky and they make Gabriel expendable too. I'm also hoping Tolliver develops into a starter in place of Prince. Extending Floyd could prove costly to that window. Hes already getting 13 next year and I know hes a solid all around player but I dont know that hes worth that price let alone an extension. Trey Burton was a no-show for much of the 2nd half of the season and obviously the playoffs. Still a lot of uncertainty around him and he makes a decent chunk of change. Too bad Shaheen looks like a bust and not a cheap replacement. The only guys that I think have to be folded into the Trubisky 2nd contract window are Mack, Hicks (seriously hope he retires a Bear barring catastrophic injury), Jackson, Goldman, Smith, Fuller, Whitehair. The other guys you cross the bridge when it comes. Theres gonna be some tough choices to make for sure.
  12. NFL is just fucked up. Teams flip-flop all the time. 2007 is a perfect example: injuries and regression from Rex, Ron Rivera left and Bob Babich couldnt stop a nosebleed, Benson wasn't the bellcow we hoped he was, Adrian Peterson, etc. I believe we have a more well-rounded core this time but if Mitch stagnates then those close wins could become losses, theres similarities with the DC switch again, new RB, etc.
  13. horsefeathers that, Kemp is a big pile of elephant horsefeathers
  14. That Kyle Ryan play was just a microcosm of our season. Absolute inexplicable incompetence. He should lose some sleep over it.
  15. That is the worst out of the season. A relief horsefeathering pitcher takes the bat out of the hands of our hottest hitter with RISP. I mean holy horsefeathering horsefeathers you moron.
  16. Pedro's rockin a sub 700 OPS now
  17. Ryu gave up more than 2 ER for just the 3rd time today, but this makes 2 in a row. Yankees rocked him for 7. ERA went from 1.45 to 2.0 over his last 2 starts. Earlier this season it was the Rockies that went off for 8 against him. Without those 2 clunkers hed be hanging close to Bob Gibson's record.
  18. Baker was god awful tonight. I'm glad because Browns fans on another forum are quickly becoming insufferable. 10/26 for 72 yards and a pick
  19. I really dont want to face the Nats next, holy horsefeathers that offense is crushing everything
  20. Gotta stop falling in love with the offspeed man. It's great stuff but MLB hitters will adjust. Barely threw any 4 seams over the last few innings.
