Theres a lot of optimism here. 1. Trusting any brain trust to replace 2/5 of a line... (side note, Massie's new deal prerty much ensures he's here next year). A Whitehair extension in the next week would put the line in a decent shape for 2020 though. 2. Gabriel and a couple guys with zero or near zero NFL production replacing AR? Hopefully its the young guys replacing Gabriel if anything. 3. Tolliver, was he active in amy game last year? Again that certainly requires quite a bit of hope. 4. I think you might have exceeded the cap with the guys you just listed (assuming Trubisky is worth a 2nd contract) I said Massie would probably be replaced after next year so I'm not sure the side note was necessary. I really believe in Bars. If he hadn't had the severe injury he was probably a 3rd or 4th round pick, and Hiestand has commended him for his ability to play all across the line. So IMO, 1 replacement is already in house. Depends on if they like him inside or out. The other can be an FA addition to shave a couple mil or a draft pick. But Leno, Whitehair, Daniels is a really solid foundation to build on. Bars has played like a potential starter. Robinson is surely not irreplaceable statistically. Hes more of a prototype or an idea as a go up and get it, wide catch radius type than he is some true number 1 IMO. Is he worth 15m? Not IMO. He has this year to prove he can still be that guy and if hes not then I really dont think hes around for 2020. That's a bad use of resources. On a per game basis, Robinson was meh. But now he has a year in the system and all that jazz so hopefully he explodes. They spent 23 on him, Gabriel, and Burton and got pretty mediocre value back. This year it's over 30. It's all hope. Tolliver was a blue chip prospect. He could be nothing but there's potential there. With Fuller's deal and after Mitch gets money, I don't think you can afford to pay Prince. They could go cheap in FA. Prince is easily cuttable after this season FWIW (1m dead cap). Goldman is also easily cut after 2021. 18m cap hit is huge. The dead is 3 so they save 15 by cutting. I could see a restructure to open cap. Mitch is obviously the key. He needs to take a big step forward this year. The Alex Smith comp is fair. You don't pay top dollar for that type. Itll be interesting to see where his demands are if he's still just decent this year.
