  1. his career obp is pretty locked in, I'd sacrifice walks to get extra ABs and pad my career dinger total at that age too It's not just about walks. We all know that chasing pitches is bad and his dropoff as a hitter can largely be attributed to losing patience and putting crappy pitches that he used to laugh at, into play. He really hasn't padded any stats as much as he's hindered his own path to being the HR king he had expected to be. His chase rate was sub 20 in his prime. A hitters eye is normally the one tool you can reasonably expect to maintain as age catches up. He has been over 30% for a decade now. It seems to be a pretty unique case of decline.
  2. It's a fleecing in my opinion. Who was Seattle bidding against anyway?
  3. Craziest thing about Pujols' decline is his plate discipline. He used to spit on the toughest borderline pitches. Suddenly he became a hacker a while back.
  4. He's got the stuff of 04 Maddux but dominates like 92 Maddux. Its insane.
  5. I liked hearing Non-Phixion - Black Helicopters at the Nationals Park
  6. They’re probably just being cautious. It’s not really that much of an inconvenience to wear a mask when you are just standing there. I wear mine outside in hot humid weather and it’s not really a big deal. So for baseball, if you are in a position to wear a mask and it doesn’t affect your ability to do your job, err on the side of wearing it. I wear a mask 7 hours a day 5x a week in Florida doing pretty physical work at times. Certain tasks are outside. I use the surgical mask. It really isn't that big of a deal to me either.
  7. Jake was the icing on the cake for me to believe they were really gonna be special once they added KB and hopefully a TORP in FA. He was just nasty and he almost no-hit the Cardinals IIRC, which just kind of gave you chills.
  8. This is mortifying https://twitter.com/adbert29/status/1281270194292297728?s=19 No 40 man salary until the season starts
  9. I feel like he hits a point of diminishing returns with all those pitches to choose from. If your stuff is elite, you only need 3- 4 is icing. He goes overboard.
  10. Little more luck on our outside shooting and if Rose hadn't gone into hero mode, we beat them in that series and go on to beat Dallas as well.
  11. Bonds only hit 50+ in one season
  12. ESPN highlighted the Bears' long struggle with running the ball up the middle. They havent ranked higher than 22nd in this millennium. That is embarrassing, especially for a team with such a rich history of doing just that.
  13. Haslem was such a problem for us protecting the rim. We just kept attacking him and getting thwarted left and right. When he was off the floor we had little trouble scoring. Then we went ice cold from deep and Rose started forcing drives with 6 hands in his face. We really blew that series. It was hard to stomach.
  14. Brewers will probably be all over him
  15. FA is gonna be absolutely ridiculous if the cap is that low in 2021
  16. Yeah, not as excited about this move as I was when he first signed. He dropped 7 passes last year, which was the same as Allen Robinson. Only issue was ARob had about 100 more targets. Dropped 7 of 37 catchable passes. That's not good. His catch rate last year was right in line with his career rate really. Unfortunately drop% only goes back 2 years but just the year before it was half as much. I doubt a skill diminished that far, I'd bet it was more flukish. Overall I think it was a fine addition. Nothing more nothing less.
  17. I still remember when we swept the Pistons in the ECF better than I do most of the other series from that era. We were camping at the time and were listening on the radio. Several other families we didn't even know started gathering around our lot to listen to the games and by game 4 it was an all out block party. We kicked their asses in furious fashion, and the energy was insane. Also the ECF against the Pacers in 97-98 I believe it was. That was the closest we came to actually feeling like we could lose a playoff series. I was never all that nervous in our Finals matchups. But that series they seemed to have an answer every time it felt like we were gonna pull away.
  18. Joe Cowley @JCowleyHoops 2h Cannot stress this enough - the Bulls organization instantly looks better in the eyes of potential big-name free agents with Gar Forman gone. His presence poisoned the well with players, agents, and other execs. Players talk, and Forman was deemed completely untrustworthy.
  19. I like the Raptors guy a lot. I also would love it if they grabbed the guy from Denver. They didn't completely luck out on Jokic at 41; they saw a player with the size of a center but who could handle the ball like a guard. His agent tried pulling him from the draft but Denver guaranteed they would take him in the 2nd so he acquiesced. They built a legit Western contender with only 1 top 10 pick and no major FA signings, getting rotation contributors consistently in the 2nd round.
  20. I actually give Sale props for going a decade before needing the operation
  21. Pace really needs to trade back with 1 or even both 2nd rounders. Theres not much money left to plug up all the needed depth and certainly not enough picks to compensate for that either. Knowing him he will take them both (and a future pick) to trade into the end of the 1st.
  22. The Angel's fired a clubhouse attendant after an internal investigation confirmed suspicions that he had been providing opposing pitchers with ball-doctoring substances. He worked for them for 30 years. Oh man I'd be livid if I were in that org.
  23. So again, why should the Cubs make this deal? Because they arent confident in Bryant's desire to sign beyond 2021 and if they can get NA's opt-out waived then they will be in a stronger future position
  24. Roederer's arm makes me think moved off CF/Billy McKinney type of future in the field. I mean sure hes gonna get stronger and hopefully that improves along with it but until that time comes, I'm just not that enthused about him. How valuable is he if he cant man CF? I'd imagine not very.
