  1. Damn, Leno gets only 5 mil from WFT. Great value.
  2. Wish we could jettison Heyward. Its incredible to me that he's playing his 6th season with us. Well, 5 legit seasons, and all of them absolutely terrible offensively. The guy can only sort of hit fastballs sometimes; any other pitch and he's toast. Even his launch angle improvement from last year appears to be a mirage. These injuries are killing us. I can't take anymore Vargas. This team is good enough to play above 500 ball, maybe get enough favorable bounces to win high 80s. But they have some real anchors getting too much PT. And LOL @ trading for a guy who hasn't played MLB in 2 years and was last seen putting up -1.3 fwar in only 50 games, who's now 30 years old. Get us some horsefeathering legit OF for fuxache.
  3. Is the "fleeing from the cops" thing confirmed? It feels like if he was fleeing from the cops, he wouldn't have been missing for 3 days. Wouldn't the cops have found him? Well I guess I should have said "allegedly". I was just going off of this initial tweet
  4. [tweet] [/tweet] One of the best plays I've ever seen a pitcher make
  5. Tarik Cohen's twin brother found dead after apparently fleeing from the cops and climbing some equipment which electrocuted him. As a father of twins, I take great delight in seeing the symbiosis between my children and I cannot imagine how they would get on without the other if a tragedy were to occur. Painful just to think about.
  6. 9th game against PIT and we've scored 5+ runs in only one of those games. Why are we suddenly letting them Brewer BABIP us to death
  7. Yeah, that was brutal. Yeah, his injury was devastating. He was still good in 2004. Not as great as his peak years, but, something I didn't pay attention to back then, he was already 30 years old. His decline should have been expected. 99-2000 he was probably on horsefeathers anyway.
  8. Wade Miley notches the 4rh no hitter of the season and Sean Manaea is 7 outs away from another. This is out of control lol
  9. The last 2 games were the horsefeathers. TWTW baby
  10. He horsefeathering did it [expletive] this was a fun series!
  11. I can't take Mills anymore. We have plenty of more interesting guys. Call one of em up.
  12. I'm actually surprised he didn't call a ball since Willy dropped it, as dumb umps are prone to do
  13. Imagine a guy like Counsell managing that team. They probably win 110 games and sweep the playoffs.
  14. Means is a little bit of get-back karma for BAL and how Arrieta turned out. Pretty cool story. Dude is dominating this year.
  15. Looking through BR quickly, looks like they had 4 double headedrs last year (3 of which were thanks to the Cards), split 3, got swept in the 4th. The last I saw was August 16, 2016 against the Brewers unless I missed one. That is correct
  16. So, just so people are clear: Dillon Maples is going nowhere. The guy has walked too many, but, is trending in the right direction with just 4 over his last 7. He has 23 Ks in 13.2 innings and has allowed just 5 hits. Now, 2 of those left the yard, yes, and he has pitched a lot in low leverage... but I think he's finally finding his footing in the MLB. He's 28, cheap, misses a ton of bats, and mostly keeps the ball on the ground. The Cubs clearly have a very strong belief that he is a very good RP that just hasn't had the aha moment yet. But that may have come tonight. He comes out in a really tough spot with the runner on 2nd, gets a GB out, but then throws a wild pitch and allows the go-ahead run. He then falls behind 2-0 and serves up a HR to Turner. You would expect the wheels to completely fall off, yeah? Well he walks Mookie. Mookie then steals 2nd. How does he respond? By striking out Seager and Taylor to end the inning. Big time bounceback from Maples and one that he should take great pride in IMO despite the wild pitch and the HR. But how about Justin Steele? horsefeathering badass. Gutsy performance, to go out there against a team like the Dodgers, an inning after they took all the air out of the stadium with 2 runs, with a runner in SP, to just go out there and shut them down like that. That was exciting. Steele is another keeper. Those spin rates are paying immediate dividends. I mean, we are just 2 games under 500. 5 months to go. I really want this team to shock everyone and compete and force Jed's hand to force Tom's hand to sign some checks.
  17. Rockies, down 2-6, and, down to their last out in a 7 inning game, string 5 straight hits together with Blackmon delivering the coup de grace walkoff bomb to take down the Giants.
  18. Aroldis has 24 Ks in 10 innings. Feels like a result of a usage shift. Last year he fiddled with a splitter to the tune of 1.5% of his offerings. This year that is up to 13%, his 4 seam usage is at a career low and he's ramped up his sinker%. horsefeathering 24 Ks out of 35 batters faced.
  19. Pace got high grades for Herbert, Newsome, and Graham. Herbert looks like a flat out playmaker.
  20. horsefeathers man, our pitching has become very interesting and fun to follow but now our bats collectively aren't that great and I have questions about our development at the ML level also. We are looking at a top 5 pick though. So that could be something great. I expect we'd take a hitter.
