  1. I wonder if we will start to see more pitchers adopt splitters in the MLB. It's been a pitch that organizations have largely 86'd because of the injury risk but it is so effective. It basically turned Gausman into an ace. USA hitters turned to jelly against it last night. The Pitchers are already implored to throw the hardest sliders they can. Why not? 3. Im still of the opinion that neither Gordon, Brisker, or Velus needed to be taken when they were and I would have traded those 2 2nd round picks for sure, so I'm with you on sharing that frustration and angst. But he's filled in the floor decently well this time around and set himself up to where I don't see any way he doesn't hammer the lines hard in the first few rounds. Eberflus obviously has a decent amount of influence and I think he played a major part in those first 2 selections. Poles acquiesced possibly not wanting to make waves in a partnership that was just forged. IDK. FWIW, Fields is the reason for the worst sack rate in history. I think it's fair to state that. It would have been BAD but he made it historically bad, not the line, even accounting for the malpractice of making Mustipher the starting C. But Poles absolutely could have done more to improve that OL. However would we have the draft capital we have now... Likely hell no. So it is what it is and hopefully we will benefit from the negligence. Sent from my motorola one 5G UW using Tapatalk I think Poles and his scouts built a board and religiously stuck to it. Those picks were the top guys on their board when their turn came up. Poles seems so committed to a good process that I don't think he would veer off course with the first few picks in his career. It should also be said that their board was edited based on what Flus/Getsy likes in various positions based on the intended scheme. Additionally, Poles selected very athletic players (the OL specifically were all high RAS guys) in the draft and that has continued into this free agnecy. His FA selections were all 28 or under, most were 27 and under, prioritizing young players. Not sure what you mean about trading the 2nd rounders in the last draft? You mean trade back a few picks and still get the same guy along with a later round pick? At the time I remember thinking that he should trade back in the second if he could get another 3rd. Maybe trade back and get a fourth with the other. He ended up trading back three times and picking up a few picks, but all were late rounders. One of the fifth rounders was Braxton so that's a vote for the volume concept of drafting. I can't predict who would have been available so I wasn't suggesting he could have traded those picks and still got Gordon and Brisker; rather that I would have traded back and taken BPA. I just felt that we could have stacked more capital and the roster was so bare that there was no need to prioritize any specific positions. Sent from my motorola one 5G UW using Tapatalk
  4. Oh, I absolutely agree on both counts. Lowder is very Wicks-esque to me, but from the right side. And Nimmala is the guy I am setting myself up for disappointment with. I do it every year. Wicks is a pretty good comp there although Lowder has at least been bumping 97s early in starts. He sat at a 93 mph average last season with his four-seam and that's a good tick or so better than Wicks in 2021. Lowder might be more consistently 94s when all is said and done. But yeah I want more upside and right now I'd prefer one of the HS shortstops (Nimmala likely out of range, but Colin Houck - man the reports are strong - Colt Emerson, Walker Martin, and Roch Cholowsky all could be 1st round plays) or Blake Mitchell. I lean prep with this class with where the Cubs are picking unless someone surprising falls. Tanner Witt is a wild card right now. He could be throwing for teams by June or early July and middle of the first round bonus money is when teams have historically taken chances on TJS guys. He has frontline potential. What were your thoughts on Paciolla last year? Sent from my motorola one 5G UW using Tapatalk
  5. I'd be more comfortable with this argument if I hadn't said it at this time last year, and then we went DB-DB-KR with our top picks and the cap casualties sucked (as they tend to do) and then Fields had his second year derailed by the worst sack rate in history. Im still of the opinion that neither Gordon, Brisker, or Velus needed to be taken when they were and I would have traded those 2 2nd round picks for sure, so I'm with you on sharing that frustration and angst. 6. He's slow playing the lines and right now they are mediocre piecemeal but we still have the draft and cap casualties to come. I think it's prudent to wait until TC starts to really evaluate what we have. Sent from my motorola one 5G UW using Tapatalk
  7. At least Pace saved the best for last... Hopefully? Sent from my motorola one 5G UW using Tapatalk
  8. Peter King on what Poles told him Taken from a Sports Mockery article but it's King's words. Not sure why the MF DOOM ALL CAPS horsefeathers though. Sent from my motorola one 5G UW using Tapatalk
  9. Poles said he basically had deals to go from 1>2>9 and have 3 1s for next year but he felt the sense of urgency from CAR to get it done now and HOU wanted to wait and he was worried the QBs might not show out as expected at their pro days and he felt the deal might have fallen apart between now and then, so he took the sure thing. Can't be upset with what we got but damn. Sent from my motorola one 5G UW using Tapatalk
  10. Where would you guys feel comfortable taking Adebawore? Raw but off the chart measurables. 280 lbs ran a 4.49 and huge explosion numbers. Sent from my motorola one 5G UW using Tapatalk
  11. Is PCA's floor Kevin Kiermaierish? (who has more career fwar than Aramis) How much worse offensively is PCA than KK right now. I just don't think you put someone with that floor at 10. Neither do any evaluators worth spit that I've seen. Tom has been not-so-subtly downplaying his Future value for the last year. Sent from my motorola one 5G UW using Tapatalk
  12. USA can't actually win with that rotation can they? Sent from my motorola one 5G UW using Tapatalk
  13. Have you ever considered that you don't actually know how to judge what you are seeing? Sent from my motorola one 5G UW using Tapatalk
  14. yea, it was an incredibly tragic event but also I'm not convinced in any way Carter's fault. They were kids out being dumb kids his pro-day was concerning however Also have to grant him some leeway for being out of shape considering the circumstances surrounding him though, IMO. I saw it mentioned elsewhere and I think it bears consideration that he doesn't seem like a guy Eberflus would be enamored with because of the question of motor and motivation. My dad is driving me nuts with all the Carter love TBH. I'm hoping he's there at 9 and we trade out, just to see his reaction. Sent from my motorola one 5G UW using Tapatalk
  15. I'm not saying it's much ado about nothing but I think the OL concerns are a little overblown. Definitely don't feel like we are in a box where we have to take an OT with 9, even though I would not mind a couple different players at that spot. Was Braxton Jones on anyone here's radar last year? Not gonna sweat it. Poles just talked about having Cody at C (where he was at his best) so our interior is drastically improved. Shouldn't we expect some development from Borom? He had a really good record in college at protecting the QB. Not the most athletically gifted player but technically sound, he could be a solid RT with time/reps. I hope Poles trades back. But if he doesn't he could go any number of directions. Hell I saw someone mention making Claypool a move TE and drafting JSN. Crazy thought but intriguing. That would be quite a set of weapons for JF1 to utilize. I mean get him a beast in the slot and a RB to bail him out (provided he utilizes him) and he will take a lot less punishment even behind an average line. Jones-Davis-Whitehair-Jenkins-Borom or rookie is a line of at least average quality, right? Sent from my motorola one 5G UW using Tapatalk
  16. I got caught in one of the nastiest storms I've ever experienced leaving Sedona, AZ. Could not see the road at all and there was lightning striking the hills around us for miles. Fires breaking out in the pouring rain. Those flash floods are no joke. Sent from my motorola one 5G UW using Tapatalk
  17. I don't like having a hardline stance on 30 year old FA. I would have paid that man the money. Sent from my motorola one 5G UW using Tapatalk
  18. You better sign that 32 yo WR that hasn't put up 500 yards this decade! Sent from my motorola one 5G UW using Tapatalk
  19. They'll make games 10 innings in the next couple years to make up the lost revenue Sent from my motorola one 5G UW using Tapatalk
  20. Depending how lean you wanted to go I believe it would have just been a 4th, not a 3rd, and not multiple ones. He clearly has a draft focus on accumulating extra picks - equivalent to what comp picks would be. I'm not concerned that he didn't get comp picks Y1. It's an all encompassing approach. Thought for sure it was gonna be a 3rd, but even so, this was the year to do it. We should have stayed away from all FA linked to compensation. Sent from my motorola one 5G UW using Tapatalk
  21. I didn't want to go into detail and beat the horse further but I was speaking specifically to blowing the comp picks, did not mean Pace. Poles traded good players, didn't re-sign good players, and was clearly tanking, so why throw away an extra 3rd and a couple 5ths to sign bodies? He lucked into the #1 and we are still going to have a mighty warchest but it still chaps me obviously. Sent from my motorola one 5G UW using Tapatalk
  22. Oh the spoils we could have had if Poles hadn't been a moron Sent from my motorola one 5G UW using Tapatalk
  23. I feel like we need a 30/30 on this horsefeathers. It's unreal. From a 4-6 week initial diagnosis to not playing for 2.5 years potentially. Sent from my motorola one 5G UW using Tapatalk
  24. TMobile will be offering free MLB.tv again this year. Signup will be from 3/28-4/3 Sent from my motorola one 5G UW using Tapatalk
  25. They did allow 9 more offensive rebounds, so there's some validity to that. They allowed 20 more shots. And the Bulls just don't hit enough 3s unless Zack has one of his blistering performances. High % is nice but they only hit 10 3s while the Pacers hit 16.
