I also think it's good for some of these guys to taste winning and have management back them instead of ditching a couple of the biggest reasons they have won this year. If they end up 81-81 it's still a significant step for the organization, and they have a bunch of exciting prospects that should raise that floor even higher over the next couple years. Now let's go prove we can beat the horsefeathers Reds doe.

The team is in the top half in damn near every relevant stat. wRC+, position player war, base running, defense, both starter and reliever ERA, both starter and reliever xFIP, a huge disparity in runs scored vs allowed. That's not a contender? They've scored more runs than the Orioles and the Astros, they've allowed less than the Rangers and the Dodgers, they have had winning months in 3/4. They've been really good. Unfortunately they couldn't avoid the annual super slump in one of those months and they're behind the 8 ball because of it. You guys base contention off of whether they can beat the Braves and stuff and that's ridiculous; stranger things have occurred in MLB history. The juggernaut Braves lost to the WC winner last year, for starters.

Yeah it's right. They really horsefeathers the bed against the Phillies, Angels, and the Marlins. They should've won a few of those, would've been closer to a respectable win%

5 of Seiya's 8 HR came in a 9 day span between 5/14-5/23. Just an absolutely abysmal season at the plate.

Nico has passed his season line and Madrigal is hot on his heels. That's just so hard to digest. The man needs to make major adjustments in his approach. Be more aggressive on first pitches and get better at identifying meatballs, please

They should be able to swing more R5 guys into those relievers. I'm feeling really good about Hoyer rn. He understands he can't go too far but he also can't stand still. This is a really good move.

Unless they move some money I doubt it. I could actually see them kick that can down to the deadline next year too, if they can keep using roster flotsam to get 120 bats at the deadline.

I think they should get over that. The first half of 2022 is the only time in the last 3 years when he showed he could still hit. He sucks. Giving him two years was stupid. Don't double down on stupid m

Cutting Mancini and putting Wisdom at 1B is ideal to me

Wisdom is doing exactly what the Cubs ask him to do: hit homers. That's all he does but when he's healthy he's pretty good at it. It's pretty funny that since he returned his KBB numbers are actually fine-good but he cannot get a basehit to save his life.

He's never hurt the team vs LHB except last year when he plain sucked across the board. This year he's at a 91, close to average. But we will gladly take the bat vs the dominant side anyway.

Could be Sewald's 30% GB rate and 93 velo that turned us off, but that's a low cost for 1.5 yrs of a good RP that probably costs 6m next year or something.

Yeah that's a big surprise to me, although he has been racking up a lot of XBH. In the first 150 PA of the season (through May 31) he had 13, and in the next 200 he had 26. FWIW I don't recall if it was Tango or James, but one of them said they throw AEV out completely and focus on 90th% instead. Said there's just too much noise in AEV.
