1. I'd be totally cool with him, but only at 1B. Honestly I would expect him to bounce back to the 125 hitter he was in the NL and I give him credit for switching leagues and still posting a respectable 114. I've seen a lot of hitters initially struggle with that change. He has a good approach, still plenty of power, batted ball numbers are good, lots of FBs and LDs. He's a fine alternative to trading for Alonso if you ask me.
2. It worked pretty well last time we poached a good Manager from a small market team
3. I'm completely stunned. I've made it quite clear how impressed I have been with his managing; now don't go making me look like a dumbass, Craig!
4. Coming off a torn ACL there's no way he gets 100M. I'd bet he takes a 1/20 or 2/40 with a mutual option.
5. What the horsefeathers were the Padres thinking extending Yu until he's 43?! They actually should have traded him in his walk year.
6. Must-win IMO. Every game after is a must-lose. horsefeathers the season.
7. If the Cardinals and Panthers both end with 1 win what decides the tiebreaker?
8. Um Stroud just led a GW TD drive 75 yards in :40 470/5 on the day Another massive whiff by Poles. Even though I wanted to trade the pick, it's only fair to say we were both idiots, only his opinion is the only one that matters.
9. They pushed Johnson into the #2 spot prematurely IMO
10. OL committing a lot of penaltis. Another game where our opponent commits none :hmm:
11. Seriously I'm looking at the game feed just gobsmacked. And for it to happen with a grizzled veteran is some embarrassing horsefeathers.
12. I'd like to see 300/100 from Bagent. Would have to be the first time a Bear has done it.
13. Not watching but I like that a lot of guys are catching passes. Bagent seems to be making some big plays with his arm and his feet today.
14. They're gonna sign Miley, velocity be damned
15. It does suck that Jaylon is gonna be so bitter over this
16. On pace for 15 sacks and the best run defending Edge in the league. Seems like a good contract and massive feels like a major exaggeration.
17. Poles took the approach going into building through the draft that i wanted and it could be Eberflus who has influenced some of the picks but his execution has been terrible. I still think he should have traded one of the Gordon or Brisker picks, if not both. He obviously really likes Stevenson and I think he has potential to be an impact player once he cleans up the penalties. But overall his draft picks have been a C-/D+ or so. Wright looks like a stud. Straight up unmitigated disaster in Free Agency. That failed DT signing and STILL horsefeathers up the comp picks. Letting Daniels walk was dumb as horsefeathers. Ignoring Harvraves and Campbell. I mean I literally give him a 0/100 in FA. You have to add impact talent when and where you can and he's just put himself behind the 8 ball up against a rail in the middle of the table. horsefeathers atrocious FA plan. It's true that most teams who turn it around quick and sustain success either come with a franchise QB or an elite defense to build around. He didn't have either. But you don't just flat out ignore FA when you have 100m in cap space and 2 long term contracts on the books. He's a bonehead.
18. So likely not very interesting to the Cubs. A possible slight but expensive upgrade from Tauchman.
19. Poles needs to suck it up and extend he or Johnson and tag the other. Why would you be pissed if he has to tag Sweat? It's not like they're loaded with expirings worthy of it. Poles needs to properly value Johnson. He just basically showed he views Sweat as immensely valuable even without the high volume of splash plays and he has to realize that Johnson's lockdown ability - without DL providing horsefeathers anything in front of him - is extraordinary and highly valuable. Poles is a PFF nerd I bet and PFF is beating him over the head with proof he needs a top-dollar contract. If Poles costs us Johnson I will absolutely be pissed. But he shouldn't have any damn reservations about locking him into a top-of-the-market contract. The table is set to have them both for a half-decade and plenty of room to still build around them.
20. Eh, he's not close? I don't agree with that. Sweat has the highest run-defense grade among all edge defenders since 2020 (90.5). Sweat’s lowest snap count in a season for his career is 483 snaps in 2021, with at least 693 in his three other campaigns. (PFF comparing him to) Gary has reached the 483 mark only once in four seasons to this point, and his run-defense grade since 2021 is 68.4. This is not to say Sweat can’t rush the passer — far from it. Since 2022, Sweat’s 89 pressures rank 11th among edge defenders, his 13.6% pressure rate ranks 25th among edge rushers with at least 250 pass-rush snaps and his 14.5 sacks rank tied for 13th. That's a great all-around Edge player, who is on pace for 15 sacks this season.
21. Feels like him and Stroman got predictable in their approach and sequencing maybe? They weren't tunnelling as effectively as they did early on. Not saying Stroman was going to pitch like an Ace the whole time but at least to his regular expected levels, instead of a dramatic fall off into unusable territory.
22. Burdi probably ends up in Milwaukee and becomes a quality guy
23. VW is going to win several - not multiple - several, MVPs and titles. Holy horsefeathers is he just by far the best player on the floor. Spot ups Pull ups Step backs Incredible footwork Speed and unfair strides, runs the floor the likes of which few big man can/ever have Touch (watch some of the lobs he finished last night and the George Gervin layups) Intelligence in the post and small lineups are dead in the water against him He looks like he can take the physical rigors of the post as well He could put up 4 BPG, maybe even 6 stocks a night, in his prime God I want to watch every game of his. I should add that him Vs. Chet has potential Admiral Vs. Dream matchups. However, they won't be the best Centers in the conference for quite some time.
24. My brother's birthday was yesterday and it was cool seeing all of the memories pop up. We did the cake during the rain delay and we were all still in surprisingly high spirits. Even my dad who is the most pessimistic sports fan I know was still smiling. He gets so negative that my grandpa and uncle said they couldn't watch the game with him and stayed home. There was just a confidence in that team that they would pull it out. We sang Go Cubs Go and all of us shouted "Cubs are winning the world series today!" in replacement of the original lyric. It's still a miracle that the Davis HR didn't crush them. We were pretty lucky to get Cleveland in the series because their rotation was horsefeathers behind Kluber and not many teams get to face the likes of a SP like Josh Tomlin in the WS. Who knows what would have happened if Carrasco was at full strength, or even Danny Salazar.
