    You wouldn't be surprised if a starting pitcher started three games in six days? Math really is hard. Started yesterday (day 1), maybe start Saturday on 2 days rest (days 2-4), then start on regular rest in game 5 (days 5-9). Considering more than one option really is hard. In the silly scenario that a pitcher starts three of the five games, obviously that guy would be the one who starts games 1, 3 and 5. Thus - Friday, Monday and Thursday. Which, again, is three games in six days.

    Also I remember something about how he's god mode nearly every time of 5+ days rest since he's been a Cub Not really. Last year he was God mode on normal rest. This year he's a little better on 5 days rest than 4, but then God mode on 6+ days rest. Moral of the story - I don't know if there's anything to it with Jake.

    how the horsefeathers is this fun for you take SVP's advice Javy becoming the next Leon Durham or Alex Gonzalez. 100 Bartman references. Bryzzo going 0-fer and developing a reputation as chokers. Knowing that even if next year's team wins 115, every article about them will ask if they can really hack it in the postseason. Arguments that we don't have a "true ace." Holy hell you're insufferable. Is this a shtick or is this actually how your mind works?

    Patrick Mooney is the worst. I don't know how he got his job (assuming family connection) but out of all the Chicago sports writers, he CLEARLY writes the most content with the "man I hope people click this link" angle.

    it's 5-0 so i don't necessarily need to see those guys but i have no problem pulling him now and getting strop his work in the 7th Chapman hasn't pitched since Monday; Rondon has only thrown 10 pitches since Monday and Strop obviously hasn't pitched in awhile. No harm in them each getting an inning today. Part of it is me just wanting to see dominant starting pitching for 6 then our version of the nasty boys for 7-8-9.

    I'd pull Jake here. Dominant outing, now let's see the Strop-Rondon-Chapman trio do it's 7-8-9 magic.

    Does Arrieta look as good as the box score says? 5 of the 7 K's swinging is very nice to see too.

    Do they notify the losers as well? I got the "yes" email last year about NLCS tix, but don't recall if I got a "no" email regarding NLDS ones.

    I used to post here until I was not allowed to anymore (probably for being an idiotic college kid). Still lurked from time to time, almost exclusively to see the stats that Fred would post in the game threads. I felt the desire to register today to offer my condolences and to share a brief story of the time I met Fred. My first game at Wrigley, in 2005, I was in the bleachers and went to the back fence to smoke a cigarette before the game started. Made small talk with the guy next to me, told him it was my first time at Wrigley and he asked where I was from. I said "Columbia, MO" to which he incredibly enthusiastically responded "are you Mizzou?!" and when I said that was me, he extended a hand and said "I'm Fred Hornkohl." I'll never forget that moment. We chatted for a bit more and then went on our respective ways. Based on my short interaction with him in person, I could tell he was absolutely full of life. Such a nice, nice man and he made NSBB a much better place. RIP, Fred. Condolences to his friends and family.
