  1. Game 2 would be normal rest for Kershaw since he started Tuesday - I can't imagine the Dodgers not having him pitch on normal rest and I don't think 7 pitches last night affects anything. Sunday will make three starts in ten days for him though, so he may not be as sharp as he typically is.
  2. Just got the NLCS email - GREAT NEWS - I'm still eligible to win the World Series ticket lottery!
  3. Wait, what? How can they just not sell ANY tickets to the general public? That's really hard to fathom happening.
  4. The game 6 starter would have an extra day of rest, but the others would all be on the regular schedule. I don't think Lackey's poor performance last night will have any bearing on Hammel's roster candidacy. Joe isn't going to let a one game sample size determine that. Besides, there are three days off so everyone will be fully rested by the time the NLCS begins.
  5. I love that Rizzo and Bryant go straight for each other while the rest of the team piles onto the mound. Typical Bryzzo. And then Zobrist shows up and they're like "yeah sure Ben, we'll acknowledge your existence."
  6. LOL at Ross motioning twice for Lackey to bounce it up there and then that doofus Pence just wails away.
  7. They couldn't even get through ONE BATTER without botching a name. Pedro Baez? Cmon...
  8. Lackey is going to come out and completely dominate. You think you've seen surly Lackey before? Pssh, just wait.
  9. Yes, Ross has caught Lackey a few times this year. The numbers aren't that different from when Willson catches him. I'm okay with this move, though it does create a black hole at the bottom of the lineup... AKA not a lot of RBI chances for Bryant.
  10. LOL, no mention of the Cubs defensive changes by FS1. Embarrassing.
  11. Alright, Soler and Zobrist just hit and aren't likely to come up again - get them out of there now. At minimum, you HAVE to put Heyward into the game. Ideally Almora as well.
  12. Did he just say it appears that "Scherzer's" work is done tonight?
  13. Nasty, nasty slider there by Jake. That's almost vintage Kerry Wood K'ing Fernando Vina swinging at a pitch that hits his foot.
  14. costas was embarrassing. Fixed that for you.
  15. Who's mom is that in the 2nd row, 2nd from the right?
  16. He has? He had one double that he ripped down the right field line, but that is his only hit, and I don't recall him looking good outside of that at bat. He had another ball that he smoked but right to the outfielder. He's had a couple weak popups as well. Either way, I'm drawing more from the previous couple weeks than a seven at bat sample. Both are small, of course. But Zobrist is starting in RF, so it's all moot.
  17. If there were a game to NOT start Heyward in this series, this is not it. RF in San Fran is large and not easily learned. Combined with the fact that Heyward has looked good the first two NLDS games and had an 890 OPS the last two plus weeks of the season, I think you'll see him out there.
  18. Kershaw obviously is going to concern anyone. But Hill? A 36 year old who's started 24 games the past 7 seasons? Not the least bit concerned about having to face him. yes, he has started 24 games the past 7 seasons. or the past 1 or so. and he has been very very good in those starts, to the tune of over 10 K/9, 2.45 bb/9, a 2.00 ERA, 2.37 FIP, and 3.18 xFIP (mainly because he has held teams to 0.39 HR/9). in other words, your dismissive tone seems pretty damn silly. if he's healthy and available, he's not fun to face. Rich Hill is a nice comeback story and he's had great success this year. But that doesn't mean I have to be concerned about having to face him. Simply put, I think the Cubs offense is way too good for me to worry about Rich Hill of all people. Admittedly, whenever I think of Rich Hill I always think of that disastrous 07 playoff start so that certainly clouds my perception of him.

  20. I think the offense just needed a game to get back into the "these games matter" mentality. I think they'll come out firing tonight. A few early runs, then a couple in middle innings, then a couple more against SF's weak bullpen. KB and Addy go deep. Baez breaks a Giants player's nose while applying a tag. Okay, maybe not that last part but he'll make another Javy type play. Cubs 7, Giants 1.
  21. Sitting here at work, all I'm doing is Google image searches of "Cubs celebration" or "Cubs walk off Rizzo" etc. I can't wait to see this... http://www.yardbarker.com/media/7/1/71a1fa3b8363334cf8c39de9f2dad7b8f9558e2f/xl/Lester-479739084.jpg ...tonight. Wrigley is going to be rocking!
  22. They've announced people at games for that for a long time, but it seems like it's usually a kid or someone that won an auction or something dumb like that. I don't' remember it being a celebrity gig. Wonder if he'll get any boos based on his politics. No kidding? I guess I'm not paying attention to all that pregame stuff as I've never noticed. Regardless, Ditka seems like an odd choice. Also when's the "This message has been submitted successfully, but it will need to be approved by a moderator before it is publicly viewable. You will be notified when your post has been approved." sanction going to be lifted? :)
  23. When did having a particular person for "Play Ball" (I assume they just say those two words on the intercom and that's it?) become a thing?
