  1. Let's hope he doesn't decide to go driving again...
  2. I remember when we delayed calling up KB there was so much anger and outrage, but I've heard very little rancor over the Braves doing the same thing with Ronald Acuna. I guess maybe it's just an accepted practice and baseball writers have moved on.
  3. [tweet]https://twitter.com/keithlaw/status/988536153707089920[/tweet] This kid is rising pretty fast -- Keith Law is really high on him. So I watched video of him pitching and I'm not a big fan. Great stuff and a plus fastball, but I feel like the team drafting him is going to have to clean up his pitching mechanics.
  4. [tweet] [/tweet] This should probably go in the 2019 Draft thread, but that doesn't exist yet lol. Bobby Witt Jr. is well known and very highly rated. A ton of top prospects have played in this game over the years.
  5. Remember in 2015 when the Cubs were really good and we traded for and then ran out Dan Haren? That's Tomlin but without the Twitter game. Yeah, but Dan Haren actually used to be a really good pitcher back in the day. Tomlin never was and never will be.
  6. Wikipedia remains humorless. Damn, nice try. Schwarber Field does sound much better. Screw you Donner60...
  7. This article made me laugh, but it also made me feel like this:
  8. So I'm guessing we have the first TJS victim in this draft class? That sucks for him. He's a good pitching prospect and was rising. Edit: So apparently he's going to miss 2-3 weeks. Not sure if he needs TJS or not. http://usatodayhss.com/2018/all-usa-watch-mike-vasil-to-miss-2-3-weeks-with-arm-injury
  9. Pssshh, imagine this entire Cubs offense playing in Coors for 81 home games. They would easily score 900+ runs every season lol. Whoever thought it was a good idea to play baseball in Denver was either really high or really dumb.
  10. Almora and Baez recently impregnated their respective wives/fiances and are both on offensive tears. So there may be a couple of reasons we need to keep Addi away from condoms. Geez, how much child support do you want him to pay? We don't want this to happen to Addison...
  11. Is this what you would say to him if he did?
  12. http://www.espn.com/nba/lottery2018/mockdraft The ESPN draft lottery simulator is up for anyone who wants to try it. So far I've gotten the Bulls selecting Doncic at #2, Jackson Jr. at #3 and Trae Young/Wendell Carter (ugh) at #6. They select Ayton when they get the #1 pick like every team.
  13. [tweet] [/tweet] I still think he's going somewhere in the 2nd round. Might be an overslot candidate for some teams.
  14. So Sean Manaea just threw a no-hitter against the red hot Red Sox. That is mighty impressive. http://www.espn.com/mlb/recap?gameId=380421111
  15. I'm pretty confident in saying Eloy will be better than Nomar Mazara. I have no idea how Mazara is doing right now lol. Not as well as everyone thought he'd be doing. No one was comping Mazara to Miguel Cabrera. I mean that comp is ridiculous for any prospect, but some scout/exec said that about Eloy's ceiling. I'm a big fan of Eloy and think posters here are underrating him. I like him way more than I ever liked Soler.

  17. eloy would be the painful one Yeah Eloy could sting but I probably still do the Q trade every time even if you tell me Eloy is going to be a monster http://cdn1.clevver.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/doesnt-make-sense.gif I worry way more about trading Eloy than over trading Gleyber, and if Eloy does actually turn into a monster offensively I will regret the Q trade. We had to upgrade our bullpen in 2016 and I'm pretty confident in saying without Chapman we don't win the WS. Honestly, without trading for Chapman and Montgomery we might not have won the WS. That said, I wish we had targeted Andrew Miller over Chapman in retrospect even if that meant we had to trade Gleyber + other good prospects to get him. IF we sign Harper this offseason then I'll feel better about trading Eloy. We'd have no place to play him and the Cubs would have to trade him anyway. Now, if we don't sign Harper and are stuck with Heyward I'm gonna be pissed...
  18. https://deadspin.com/high-school-baseball-coach-swears-he-was-powerless-to-p-1825423962 Not sure where to put this story honestly, but some HS baseball team just won a game 82-0. I'm not horsefeathering kidding. That really seems like you're rubbing it in and showing off. The winning coach had the audacity to say this too:
  19. [tweet] [/tweet] http://elanaschlenker.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/true-detective-cinematheia.gif . Damn... Rust could have learned the same lesson by just watching Cubs games.
  20. I'm glad you're asking cause... MJ is the best of all time. The GOAT. Lebron might have been a better athlete when both were in their respective primes, but I'll take MJ every time when asked this question.
  21. Man, I really wanted to read/see highlights of Adbert Alzolay. I've seen very little of him and I've heard mixed things about his breaking ball. Hopefully, he's legit and we'll see him at Wrigley later this year.
  22. So I believe Keith Law's list is just his ranking of the top 50 prospects in this year's draft. He doesn't move prospects up or down based on signability and this isn't a mock draft. This is just a list based on how he views their talent and skill level/production. Keith Law wrote this short explanation above the list: Right, I 100% get that and was able to read that far. What I'm asking is, in this pure list of draft prospects, does he have some dude #2 who most don't think will go in the top ten due to signability (or injury, or whatever) Yeah, so he has infield prospect Jonathan India really high at #10. I've never seen him that high on any list before. That is mildly shocking to me, but he is producing and his defense/fielding has improved. He has catching prospect Joey Bart ranked #14 and I think he'll go in the top 10 because elite catching prospects are rare. He has great tools and I've read some teams in the top 10 are very interested in him. He has SS/3B prospect Jordan Groshans all the way down near the bottom of the list which is a little shocking to me. I like him as prospect and I've read good things. That is confusing to me. I think he should be ranked higher on the list.
  23. Thanks! That seems pretty consistent with where he is expected to go in the draft. Are there any guys whose ranking on there is out of line with their projected draft position due to signability concerns? That's what I'm most curious about. 24. Keith Law has RHP Kumar Rocker ranked #12. I can tell you where he has other prospects on the list if you're curious. Just tell me which ones...
