  1. Damn it. The Bulls get the #7 pick. Great job tanking this past season idiots.
  2. Here we go...
  3. Oh man, I was going to make a post about that earlier! Totally forgot lol. I really hope the Bulls move up (please let those stupid NBA conspiracies be true) in this draft lottery. If they don't get lucky we'll still get a good player, but we need great players to contend/convince FAs to come here. Maybe lady luck will shine on us again.
  4. In regards to the mock draft on Fangraphs ... well, I don't hate the pick but I don't love it either. I won't mind it if the Cubs select Jackson Kowar, but I'd rather they go after someone with a higher ceiling/more exciting. I've heard Kowar comped to fellow Florida pitcher Luke Weaver. We'll take that I guess?
  5. Yeah, I mentioned a few posts ago that he saw a specialist and was cleared to pitch with no ligament damage/structural damage. I believe he's fine healthwise. Also, he has maybe the best mechanics of any pitcher in HS. It's a clean easy delivery and he's always on line with the plate. Seems like a good athlete who keeps up with his conditioning too. I like Mike Vasil and think he'll go in the late first round area.
  6. Yeah, his body doesn't look like the body of a top prospect. I mean he isn't Pablo Sandoval either. His defense is okay at 3B right now, but I bet he moves over to 1B at some point just like Miguel Cabrera. The bat is pretty special (easily the best hitter in the minors right now).
  7. Meh. Make him a reliever and see if his stuff picks up. I don't really care for Hatch and I was disappointed when the Cubs selected him in the 3rd round. That 2016 draft class doesn't look great right now. I wanted Zac Gallen who went two picks later to the Cardinals.
  8. I just came across this website and it's pretty awesome. I'm sure most of us can't keep up with all the young players coming up in MLB. This site gives a pretty good scouting report for every player making their MLB debut. I can't post the full name of the site because it contains the 'F-word' in it lol. Highly recommend checking it out:
  9. Man, their new GM Alex Anthopoulos took over this team at just the right time lol. I feel bad for the old GM (who is banned from baseball) in that he didn't get to see this through. That guy was kind of a dick though.
  10. Kudos to Brian Duensing for coming up with the idea. [tweet] [/tweet]
  11. He's probably making his debut Saturday in the DH, unless this postponement screws it up.(I doubt it will) Really? Oh dang, I guess I missed that. Yeah, that makes sense. I'm looking forward to seeing his debut.
  12. I wonder when we'll see Adbert at Wrigley this year. I say he makes his debut sometime in July. Fun Fact: When he makes his debut he will be the first Adbert to ever play in MLB. I've never met an Adbert before. I thought it was a misspelling the first time I read his name many years ago. I thought it was Albert or something like that.
  13. [tweet] [/tweet] I like Kyler Murray, but he needs to drop his football aspirations before I'd commit to drafting him with a high draft pick. I know he's a great athlete, but you need those reps in the minors. Sucks you can't take a chance on this kind of guy in the late rounds anymore. You could give him a mil to sign and then see how this lottery ticket works out. You can't really do that with the current draft pools/penalties in place right now.
  14. [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet] I don't know if India is good enough to play SS at the MLB level. I doubt it, but I didn't think DeJong was capable of playing SS at the highest level either. I haven't seen enough of India to really make a case either way.
  15. [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet] Of those three players: Highest floor for me is Madrigal. Highest ceiling is Bohm easily -- a Kris Bryant comp is high praise. I like India too, but I like Bohm and Madrigal more.
  16. [tweet] [/tweet] I bet one of those five or so teams is Texas. Texas gave Matt Bush a second chance (or third chance) after the horrible things he did. If I were a betting man I would put good money on the Cubs NOT being in that group...
  17. Yeah, I'm curious as well. I'm growing more and more intrigued by Jordan Groshans. I wonder if the Cubs will invite him for a private workout. I think he would go higher in other years with less talent in the 1st round. Groshans and Scott should definitely be invited to Wrigley for a closer look.
  18. Everyone knew he was getting fired. It sucks, but someone had to be the fall guy. Bad timing maybe... You can't "fire" the players and this is one place they can upgrade the team at. He isn't one of the top coaches in the NBA. The team was a #1 seed and top 5 on both ends of the floor. I'd say that's pretty good I'm not saying he's one of the worst coaches in the NBA. He's good; just not elite IMO. Toronto has good vets and amazing depth. They are a good team, but to win in the playoffs you need stars or superstars performing at a high level.
  19. I'm starting to be intrigued by Duane Underwood again. I can't believe I'm writing that in 2018, but the recent reports have been pretty good. Hopefully, he keeps it up.

  21. There have to be some guys moving down for other guys to move up and overtake them in the draft rankings. Off the top of my head, I'd say Griffin Conine, Brice Turang, Luken Baker, Tim Cate, Tristan Pompey and Brady Singer (he's still highly rated) have fallen in the rankings to some degree. Mason Denaburg seems like the big one among the highly rated prep arms that have fallen. Denaburg may be more likely to go to school now. Was Baker ever THAT high? I don't remember seeing him go before our pick at any point this year. Singer has dropped, but is he even dropping outside the top 10? I think there's a good chance a top 10-12 talent is available to us at 24. Just don't know who. Oh, I was just stating draft prospects whose stock has fallen. Singer should still go in the top 10. I don't know who will be available to the Cubs at 24, but yeah we should be getting a good player. There really isn't much separation between 13-40 in the draft rankings in my opinion. If he falls all the way to 24 I could see the Cubs taking RHP Logan Gilbert. He seems to be flying under the radar a little bit.

  23. So I'm not going to critique your mock draft that much, but I don't think the Cubs could afford Xavier Edwards at #76 unless they went way overslot. I actually think he's going to college or he'll be selected at the beginning of the second round. Shane McClanahan probably isn't falling all the way to #24, but it'd be awesome if he did. I do think you're right about Tristan Casas going to the Marlins. That's an industry rumor and it makes sense. Last thing, Casey Mize is going #1 unless he fails a physical or something weird happens. I like Alec Bohm, but he isn't going #1. I think Mize can move quickly and fits the Tiger's draft philosophy pretty well.
