  1. I think Maddon either signs with the Angels or the Mets. I feel like the new GM of the Mets thinks this team is really close to championship-caliber quality and just needs a better manager. I've read rumors they really want Maddon and will be offering $5+ mil to get him. I've actually heard the Sox are pretty happy with the job Rick Renteria has done. Next year will be the make-or-break year for him. He probably gets fired during the season is my guess.
  2. None of them have a good shot at a Championship (unless the Cubs do something really drastic this offseason and sign Rendon+ and make some good trades and hire a superb new manager). Probably the most realistic choice for me is the Blackhawks. The hockey postseason is the ultimate crapshoot where upsets happen all the time. They get one of the last spots, but peak at the right time -- Corey Crawford is locked-in and fully healthy, the young prospects like Kirby Dach are ahead of schedule, Toews and Kane are playing well... It's either Blackhawks or Cubs for the next few years in my mind. Yeah, Bears need a legit QB and the Bulls are probably the furthest away.
  3. We need to create a new Cubs manager thread because this horsefeathers is gone. We can speculate on who we want and whether David Ross is a tool or a good vet or maybe both... I wanted Rocco Baldelli, but that ain't happening now. Still, we should get someone in that mold who has spent time in a FO and as a coach. Someone younger (doesn't have to be a millennial) who can better relate to our best young players. I've heard good things about Joe Espada.
  4. [tweet] [/tweet][tweet] [/tweet]I can't wait for the day when an MLB player complains about a strike once an automated strike zone is in place. That looked like a clear strike in the clip above so I don't know what he's complaining about...

  6. [tweet] [/tweet][tweet]https://twitter.com/slegrbombs71/status/1171032920779317248[/tweet] I felt the exact same way lol.
  7. [tweet] [/tweet][tweet] [/tweet]I have heard Nick Castellanos really likes it here in Chicago and wants to re-sign badly. Boras is probably advising him not to openly admit that and just see what transpires in the offseason. No qualifying offer will help him. I don't think Theo has even started discussions on a new deal for Castellanos. I have this sneaky suspicion the White Sox are going to push really hard to sign him. They'll probably come up short like always.
  8. [tweet] [/tweet]Sahadev Sharma did a pretty cool story on Danny Hultzen also. It's a great comeback story and I hope he stays healthy.
  9. [tweet] [/tweet][tweet] [/tweet][tweet] [/tweet]For anyone that missed the game -- a great debut for Nico! Maybe I was wrong about struggling offensively and not hitting for power lol. He looked great tonight. If he does well this month then I hope he breaks with the team out of ST next year and never sees the minors again.
  10. [tweet] [/tweet] I wasn't expecting this, but sure why not? He's probably going to struggle offensively (and won't hit for much power). I think he'll do fine on defense. There was talk about promoting him at some point when he got off to a hot start at AA, but injuries have slowed him down. I still think he's the Cubs top prospect and that he'll be our future leadoff hitter.
  11. We now have 2 of the top ten picks from the 2011 MLB draft on our team. It's a great story and he has good stuff. I'm just wondering why they made the move now... I was expecting it sooner honestly.
  12. [tweet] [/tweet] Great read. Uncle Vogey seems like a cool dude lol.
  13. [tweet] [/tweet]Good. I believe there is talk behind-the-scenes to also go back to the regular baseball (used for the rest of the minors) for AAA next year. MLB teams are pretty pissed that AAA has turned into a wasteland for pitching prospects this year. Not sure what MLB does about the baseball at the major league level next year.
  14. Yeah, big thanks to Raisin for doing this. I'm pretty happy the AFL is starting earlier so we can go straight from minor league season into the AFL. Thanks again Raisin.
  15. [tweet] [/tweet][tweet] [/tweet]That shirt is awesome lol. Also, horsefeathers Pittsburgh and their head-hunting ways.

  17. [tweet] [/tweet]It's not a bat flip (I know), but it's a really nice bat drop. The full bat flip is great, but the understated bat drop works too.
  18. [tweet] [/tweet][tweet] [/tweet][tweet] [/tweet]*Castellanos' OPS is now 1.214(!) in 79 ABs.

  21. Regular Show went out in a blaze of glory recently and claimed he was logging off forever Really? That's how describe it? Okay... Lol. I'm still around. I just send PMs now so I don't have to deal with assholes like you.
  22. This is (I believe) the first time under Theo that the Cubs haven't signed all their draft picks inside the top 10 rounds. Also, the first unsigned 11th rounder as well. It probably was linked the more I think about it (going underslot on Hendrie to sign Chambers to a slight overslot deal). The Cubs didn't sign RHP Trey Cobb in like the 12th or 13th round back in the 2016 draft I think. He was an okay pitcher (not a big time prospect) and went back to school.
  23. Oh, I'm 100% denying it had anything to do with what you wrote. It had everything to do with what you posted, sure. That right there. I wouldn't even comment on something you posted here because I have problems with you and your dumb opinions. Whatever. You're totally allowed to comment on rankings and stuff, but try to bring it up on your own and avoid me here. Good. .166 IsoSLG in college PLUS no CCL? Meh, lets get some high ceiling Another example... I never brought up Braden Shewmake (to you) in the draft thread btw. That was you commenting on something I wrote. You made that comment and you do this all the time. I never commented on any prospect or post you made until that point in that thread (I was actively avoiding whatever you wrote). I can literally show dozens of times of you acting like this here. Just stop interacting with me and think before you decide to write something after I post something in any thread here.
