  2. Bulls better not to lose to the Hornets in game 1 of the season (currently losing 32-40). Boylen should be fired after the game if that happens...
  3. I kinda hope they get burned too, but even if the Cubs lose and KB is granted another year of service time it won't change the service time manipulation/shenanigans that teams do. That has to be negotiated in the next CBA discussion and this current agreement ends after the 2021 season. I hope this gets addressed and minor league pay (they honestly have a ton of things to negotiate). It's going to be contentious...
  4. Nope. Not down with the time clock idea:
  5. To that I say: http://66.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lz6w9p7zCF1qgj4zoo2_250.gif
  6. The only downside to the Nats winning it all is that this horsefeathering guy is a Nats fan:
  7. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/10/latest-on-david-ross-cubs.html I haven't listened to the interview yet, but David Ross sounds pretty good in here. It wasn't working "90% of the time" this season lol. I think Maddon understood modern analytics, but he went with his gut/intuition far too often. Analytics just means using all available info and data and statistical analysis to make the best informed decision possible, and clearly Maddon wasn't doing that. I think Espada would be a great hire (and I think MLB needs more diversity), but Ross should be fine and I think the FO has been grooming him for this role. I believe the announcement will happen next week.
  8. [tweet] [/tweet]Awesome shirt lol.

  10. Yeah, I was going to bring that up too. I ton of people listen to Cubs games in the car. If I could listen to Pat Hughes and Ron Santo again I totally would take that over the TV broadcast (I know that sounds weird). I really miss Ron Santo...
  11. I think we're all rooting for the Nats now. Not a huge fan of the team, but I really enjoyed how Juan Soto got under the skin of Cards fans lol. They love Yadi and his stupid histrionics, but how dare someone on the opposing team play that way...
  12. [tweet] [/tweet][tweet] [/tweet]Felix Pie... I remember him lol
  13. I think it's down to those 2 candidates now (David Ross and Joe Espada). My odds are like 70:30 in favor of Ross. I like Espada a lot, but Ross is fine if that's the direction they go with.
  14. That’s a pretty decent comp. Not sure how that never occurred to me. Ah, I wouldn't call that a good comp. He has a little Ben Gordon in his game, but they're pretty different players... Gordon was a much better shooter (especially 3-pt shooting). Coby White is a little taller and a better athlete. Gordon was a 2-guard all the way, but I think Coby could be a scoring PG/combo guard. We'll see how he develops. I'm excited and think our backcourt is solid now.
  15. [tweet] [/tweet]There are some great quotes in here from Lauri lol. He's great in this: "You're a Bulls fan?" "No? OK." "We should be fine. Famous last words." "Oh @#$% here we go again."
  16. Maddon needed to go and move on -- we all agree on that. This is a good hire for the Angels IMO. I think Maddon is good at turning a team around and building a loose, fun clubhouse. Builds good relationships with his players and takes the pressure off initially. I think eventually you get diminishing returns and a lack of accountability (for himself and his players). I think 3 years is the perfect length for hiring Maddon. If they fix their pitching and/or sign Cole and some other FA pitchers (plus get the amazing two-way capable Ohtani back at full strength) I think they'll be playoff contenders. Finally get a full healthy 9+ WAR season from Trout. Maybe Houston and Oakland take a step back next year... I'm grateful for what Maddon did and I'm not going to insult him going forward (unless he starts criticizing Theo and his former players for what happened in Chicago at the end of his run here). He definitely was part of the problem and needed to go, but I can't say the Cubs absolutely win a WS in 2016 with another manager at the helm. I was hoping the 2016 Cubs team winning the WS was the start of a dynasty (like most everyone here)... It wasn't. The FO made some mistakes and Maddon regressed as a manager. Still, I think we should be thankful and gracious for everything Maddon did even if his tenure here ended on a bad note.
  17. [tweet] [/tweet][tweet] [/tweet][tweet] [/tweet]Damn, I feel really bad for Mariners fans now. Seattle deserves better...

  19. Not sure what you mean by that statement? You think there is support for Kapler here on this forum? I doubt that... I think he got an interview, in part, because he was a member of the Dodgers' FO before being hired by the Phillies. The Cubs desperately want to know the inner-workings and player development secrets of the Dodgers, Astros and Yankees. Partially why we're interested in Joe Espada too. Kapler is smart, but he's also stubborn and not great at building a strong team culture. I don't care for Kapler and think he's more suited for an instructor/coach role.
  20. Again, I wonder how Bryce feels about the Nats advancing to the WS? It has to sting on some level right? If the Nats win it all I think he'll be pretty upset. I know, I know... he can go all Scrooge McDuck and do this:
  21. Dave Martinez seems too nice a guy to do that (or appears too nice to do that). I agree it'd be horsefeathering awesome if he did give that speech lol. For Schildt:
  22. Seriously? Dusty is still getting interviews? That has to be an Andy MacPhail move. Dusty makes Joe Maddon look like a coaching savant by comparison.
