What makes the Cubs the favorite? The Phillies and Yankees are the other teams rumored to be interested in Tucker too. If either of those teams miss out on the trade they are 100% out bidding the Cubs in free agency. Plus you gotta compete with whatever other big boy spenders that wanna jump in the sweepstakes.
I'm sure Jed is gonna try to re-sign him but most of the rumors are saying he wants to be a free agent. The Cubs aren't going to win a bidding war in free agency. If they make this trade he's only staying for 1 year.
No thanks to trading Seiya, Shaw, or Smith for a 1 year rental. Tucker will end up signing with a big boy team, the Cubs aren't winning a bidding war to keep him.
Troll has been pulling the same bait and cry victim act for years on PSD. The sooner he gets banned or people stop responding the better. It's just delaying the inevitable at this point. Nobody likes him and he provides 0 value to any discussion.
He's already won every major award and a World Series. It's his chance at a huge pay day. Taking the most money at this stage in his career makes complete sense. If he signs with the Angels he can always sign on with a contender for another run at a WS once his contract ends.
I can't remember if I found this here or not so apologies if it's already been shared. But this is a reminder that Boras has also taken his fair share of Ls by waiting too long..

I still find it funny that the dude has been casually living in the Chicago area since November and nobody noticed. Seems like a good dude, I hope he does well.
