    I been thinking about a Jon Heyman comment earlier this week. He said that it didn’t look like Ohtani was going to decide during the meetings . The reason he gave was that he was told by a gm of an interested team , that they were expecting a meeting after the winter meetings . I wonder if there is 1 more meeting taking place tomorrow or Saturday before Ohtani makes his decision before the end of the weekend like Morosi reported

    Yeah I heard that . Surprising to hear because they don’t normally put too much effort on the bullpen and with them been out of Ohtani and Soto , just not that many impact lefty bats on the market .

    All it takes is one desperate team . Looking like SD will come away with a big win here , considering everybody knew they needed to trade Soto.

    I would hope they consider JD Martinez if Ohtani goes to LA . Gives them a presence in the middle of the order at the least .

    As long as Jed Hoyer is the president of baseball operations , it’s going to be difficult for this team to get stars. His plan seems to be just wait for the minor league system to produce those stars . Pretty risky

    This offseason went straight to hell pretty quickly . I would expect them to engage with Candelario now . Should cost less than Chapman and with the lack of lefty bats , I could see it . I don’t love it , but I think it’s. Possibility . Would imagine Bellinger gets a big deal with Tor / Sea / SF if Ohtani picks dodgers

    I don’t have access to the athletic but saw a headline from Mooney that says the Cubs appear to be pivoting in other directions .Guys Ohtani isn’t going to happen . I really don’t care what Jed said tonight . He is pissed that it got leaked . He probably wanted to give the impression they were in it until the end .

    Yeah I think it’s over with Ohtani . When you see these articles with major league sources saying x amount of teams are still firmly in the mix and the Cubs don’t get mentioned , it isn’t going to happen . They will have a difficult time putting an offense together , especially from the left side . Their only LHH is Happ.

    Latest article from Feisand at mlb.com doesn’t even mention the Cubs on Ohtani . Dodgers / Angels / Blue Jays were the only mentions .

    Heyman says the Cubs are looking at Matt Chapman / Bellinger and Rhys Hoskins but are waiting on Ohtani first . Also read something about Jesse Rogers saying Hoyer isn’t in Nashville due to personal reasons , not Ohtani related .

    If they don’t get Ohtani and Rogers is right about them not having interest in Soto , I have no idea how they will build an offense . Rhys Hoskins isn’t near enough

    Looks like Nightendale eliminated the Cubs from the Ohtani talk . He said they have no shot . I honestly don’t know if I should feel good he said that

    Also since some people love to speculate based on this sort of stuff Ohtani started following Logan Webb on instagram today .

    Yeah I read that none of the Dodgers / Cubs / Giants / Blue Jays president of baseball operations are there . Would think the decision is coming this weekend

    These meetings have the potencial to be really boring . Glasnow probably won’t get move until Yamamoto signs and Yamamoto probably won’t sign until Ohtani does . Wouldn’t be surprised if the Cubs get out of these without making any moves .

    I would say it factors a lot when you are trying to recover from surgery and be a dominant pitcher again .

    I didn’t know that the doctor who did the surgery on Ohtani is part of the Dodgers medical staff . No bueno

    Maybe but it’s very possible the Jays aren’t feeling great about Ohtani . Ohtani seems to be entering the final stage of his FA and teams have started to pursue other options now . I still think we could hear a decision tonight or tomorrow .
