  1. You're comfortable with Bush starting? I don't mind him starting to see what we got, but I'm not opposed to bring in competition for that spot. Plus we're REALLY thin on depth if Bush or Jackson gets hurt. I would like to have that capable backup as insurance whether it's Bush or whoever we bring in. Like BigbadB said, there are some interesting options out there in FA.
  2. He hasn't played more than 2 games in a season since 2016 due to his Achilles injury and then having a bunch of setbacks from that injury. He'll also be 32 sometime this year. With that type of injury, I'm just not sure if he'll be close to being back to his old self even with taking a year off. Not many players bounce back from that. That being said, I would still take a flier on him on a vet min deal. Worth kicking the tires on him and bring some competition at SS.
  3. I don’t really think you understand he was a top ten pick. If your top ten pick doesn’t make it to his next contest with you, it was a bad pick. A bad pick and a F pick is not the same thing. This. Jersey is saying that Floyd basically gets the same grade as Kevin White which is just [expletive] insane.
  4. what the hell is a C then? A- HOF B- Multiple All Pros C- Multiple Pro Bowls D- Multiple years of being top 10 at a position F- Average starter or worse is what I'm guessing his grade scale.
  5. Bears trade up again and drafted a WR.
  6. I’ll take it. We have a bunch of picks next year I believe Edit: though I guess the value chart shows that the bears lost the trade Nope. We just have rd 1-3,5,6 pick for next years draft. We should be getting some comp picks, but I think they're all 6th rounders.
  7. Very similar to RRH when he was drafted.
  8. What a stupid horsefeathering write up. Yep. Walter is a good read if you just want to see mocks/scouting reports/prospect visits/etc, but when it comes to analysis/actual scouting, it's not that good IMO. I like how he said "Pace could've obtained someone similar in the third round, or perhaps someone slightly worse early on Day 3". Apparently he didn't check to see what picks Bears have for this year's draft. IIRC, I think he said Jaylon Johnson is a natural zone corner/limited to zone scheme when basically everyone else says the opposite.
  9. I'm liking how it's shaping up for the Bears at 43.
  10. Sounds like Burton got the vet min which means Bears gain an extra ~800k in cap space.
  11. Maybe the 40 is stupid to go by for an OL, but the 1.7 10 yd split is not. For comparison, Aaron Donald was 1.63 and 35 lbs lighter. It's really damn impressive Wirfs did at the combine.
  12. Angel Echevarria passed away yesterday. He was only 48. https://sports.yahoo.com/former-colorado-rockies-chicago-cubs-outfielder-angel-echevarria-dies-232150387.html
  13. Yeah, Pace's history with trading down in the 2nd have resulted in a 2nd and 4th rounder, but all of his trade downs have been 5-8 picks later IIRC. I think you could get a 3rd if it was 10 picks difference which is why I picked Baltimore as the example. Another option would be trading for a later 2nd and a future 3rd. Although I'm not sure how often that has happened. I believe the value of a future pick is 1 round later so a future 3rd = this years 4th rounder.
  14. Which one would you rather have? Rd 2 pick 11 (from LV) Rd 2 pick 18 Rd 4 ??? (projected Amos comp)- which is after 4th round so pick 33+ depending on how many comp picks Rd 5 pick 18 Rd 6 pick 17 Rd 6 pick 21 (from PHI) Rd 7 pick 12 (from LV) Rd 7 pick 19 Or let's say trade the Bears 2nd for Ravens 2nd and 3rd so it looks like this Rd 2 pick 11 (from LV) Rd 2 pick 28 Rd 3 pick 28 Rd 4 ??? (projected Amos comp) Rd 5 pick 18 Rd 6 pick 17 Rd 6 pick 21 (from PHI) Rd 7 pick 12 (from LV) Rd 7 pick 19 They traded down 10 picks in the 2nd to gain a 3rd which Bears don't have. Another trade that could work is Houston's 2nd (pick 25) and their 1st 4th rounder (pick 5). This is just an example of what trading the Bears 2nd pick could look like. You could trade both 2nd to get to the low 20s of the 1st. Could trade the Raiders 2nd instead of the Bears as it got more value. Of course, this only works if a team is willing to trade.
  15. It wouldn't take much to beat Wake's deal. His contract with Miami at that time was like 1 mil/yr.
  16. I always thought Zion would end up being Larry Johnson 2.0
  17. I decided to look up and see who were the 2 guys that are heavier. Zion is listed at 284 on nba.com. Here are the guys in the nba who are within 5 lbs or heavier than Zion: Andre Drummond 279 Joel Embiid 280 Tacko Fall 311 Nikola Jokic 284 Brook Lopez 282 Robin Lopez 281 Boban Marjanovic 290 Jusuf Nurkic 290 Felicio btw is listed at 270.
  18. I know it's just 70 innings and got him in a trade, but Rich Harden 08 should be there as the swingman.
  19. I saw on TV that he's the 3rd heaviest player in the NBA at 285. Like I can't figure out that he's just that fat or that they're lying on TV cuz there has to be more than 2 guys in the NBA that weighs more.
  20. You keep saying this, but dude has almost 800 ABs this past 2 seasons and probably will get as many ABs as he did this past season (339) which is about 150 too many IMO. That probably puts him in the top 30 for CFs in terms of ABs. What make you think that he won't be the starting CF this season? Theo/Ross/etc haven't convinced me this offseason that he's going to be on the bench and be the 4th/5th OF. They all love him and think there's more to him than what he has shown so far. Don't get me wrong. I hope he figured out how to play with his skillset ala Baez, but to me, he just sucks. Like NOTHING about his skillset tells you that he's going to bounce back in a big way or you see that there's potential that just needs to be unlocked somehow.
  21. Not sure where to put this, but this is probably the best place. Luke Kuechly retired. It's suck for a guy to see awesome players like him, Willis, Gronk, etc. to retire so early, but it's the right decision.
  22. Everyone is in play for Bryant. Ricketts will trade him for anything to get out of paying him 18 mil and get under the LT.
  23. Yeah I think given the past few CBAs the players will do something that superficially sounds good but ultimately makes things worse. My guess is that they bump up the number quite a bit, but the penalties, even for first time offenders, become far more severe and it function like a hard cap. Like you said, they'll go up to like 240-250 mil as the "luxury tax" and the tier 3 penalties nowadays will become the new tier 1. And to make it worse, the luxury tax probably won't increase over time because it's such a big jump from 210 or wherever it'll be in '21.
  24. So Vince Carter became the first NBA player to play in 4 different decades. Amazing.
