  1. Doesn’t he have til Thursday technically? Isn’t there a 3 day period where a player can reconsider after the deadline? So he can declare he’s staying at OSU today for the deadline, but then change his mind on Weds if he wanted. Friday is the “official” day. Or am I wrong? Thought I saw this in an article recently.
  2. Yep. Even if we drop to 7 or 9, Bears could still get someone like Murphy, Johnston, OL, or depending on how FA goes, Bijan Robinson. Elite talent is elite talent. Be interesting to see if Lions think Goff is the answer or not. They have the 6th and 18th that could go a long way in a package for #1. Division opponent - requires an extra 1st than anyone else Say they offer 6/18/2nd plus ‘24 1st, do you turn it down?

Hate to trade in the same division but can’t rule it out if they offer the best package.
  4. If that happens, Pace better call Carolina and see how bad they want a QB. Or another team who wants to jump ahead of Lions/Seahawks. They’re more likely to give you a haul. horsefeathers! I'm gonna blame autocorrect on that one.

  6. Take VERY much for what it's worth because it's from da Bum, but he grew up right by Purdue and always said Ohio State fans were by far the worst visiting fans he encountered. He’s not wrong there. OSU is the worst. Now from when I was at Arkansas, I never had a bad experience with any fans so can’t tell you who was the worst there. Sports and fans were just more intense down there compared to Purdue/Big Ten.
  7. Jackson? I wonder what kind of value they can get for him while he's hot.
  8. Looks like for 2023 2nd and 5th
  9. At least they tried for a TD instead of a FG?
  10. The Cubs almost did this last year. They were 9 over .500 right before losing 11 straight. They were 11 over .500 a few games earlier but I don’t know if he means 10 over immediately before losing 12 straight. Yeah I think he means the latter. Also the 1987 Brewers did this so the stat is wrong. The Brewers were 20-3 and then lost 12 in a row. https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/MIL/1987-schedule-scores.shtml He meant that to be 10 games over .500 then lose 12 straight to be under .500. Like Brewers were still over .500 after that 12 game losing streak.
  11. Or a reminder that the leading Bears receiver in yards all time is just over 5,000 yards and he played 60 years ago.
  12. I wonder where Schwarber is at in that. I feel like when Schwarber was on the Cubs that he gets a lot of blown calls on balls/strikes like Suzuki is so far this year. Am I remember that correctly? Seems like he got it worse than like Bryant, Rizzo, etc.
  13. Of course those 3 would be in his list of preferred destinations. I imagine it's all good teams. Good luck with that! :good:
  14. Season BA is over .300 now as well. This kid is going to be DJ LeMahieu with a bit more power, isn't he? Jeff Cirillo was a name that came to mind. I was thinking Jose Vidro, but I'm hoping he'll sprinkle in a couple '94-'98 Roberto Alomar type seasons in there.
  15. I figured I would post in this thread for my questions. As some of you know from the golf thread, I will be moving to Myrtle Beach in 3 weeks for my new career. My question to you guys as I haven't followed the minors much in the past 3-4 years is has anybody been to the MB stadium? If so, how was it and should I sit in a certain area or it's a great view no matter where? The next question is how the rest of the Carolina League stack up prospects wise? Like if I go to a game, which team should I see and who to watch? I'm going to try to see a couple games this summer on my off days if it works out and thought I would ask since you guys follow the minors more closely than I do.
  16. Figured I would give an update on this since it's been 5 months. I passed my written test 2 months ago and then my playing qualifying test 3 weeks ago. The target score that I had to beat that day was 159 (36 holes) on a course I've never played on (The Player's Club at Wooland Trails- which is where Ball State plays at). Ended up shooting 150 (77-73). Now all I have to do is start looking for jobs, apply, etc. Haven't decided where I want to move to yet. How is everyone's game coming along? New update- I waited longer than I wanted due to waiting for materials on the 2 houses we were building in the past year and had to stay to finish them. Started applying for jobs in January. Had quite a few interviews and a couple in-person for 2nd round of interviews the past couple months. Please to say that I have accepted an assistant golf professional position in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. The golf course is called True Blue Golf Club. I will be moving there in 3 weeks and start my job the following week. Pretty pumped up about it as True Blue is pretty highly regarded golf course in the US and I'll be living in Myrtle Beach which is one of the areas I was hoping to move to. Also, now I can go watch some Pelicans games on my off days!!
  17. I rather Bears just sign one of these guys instead of going after guys on practice squad or were injured or whatever. At least the guys below were actually productive at one point. Enough with going on "potential" or guys who hasn't had their shots yet. There's a reason why these guys were where they're at in their career that the Bears have been signing and I'm not just talking about WRs here either. We got enough of those guys already and now the time to add some vets here and there. They're going to be 1 year deals anyway. Hopefully Poles will be doing that after June 1st. A lot of these guys in FA can't be asking much $$$ by now so there's value to be had.
  18. So he's going to make more in 10 years as a broadcaster than he will playing in the NFL for 23 (so far) years.
  19. Add another 7th 226 with 174 in the 5th
  20. I think that's a really smart move when you need picks. In these later rounds, so many of the draft grades of players are the same so it becomes even more of a crapshoot. More picks late mean more opportunity to find a nugget. I agree. I’m not even opposed to trading one of the 5th for 2- 6th. They need to fill out their roster somehow.
  21. So Poles trade both 5th for 2 later 5th and 2 6th.
  22. Pickens or Watson Reimann or Parham Hall or Perrion Winfrey Pitre or Jaquan Brisker Andrew Booth Jr or Kyler Gordon Nakobe Dean David Ojabo or Arnold Ebiketie Poles is going to be in a good spot at 39 to get his BPA or trade down. Never great to be getting like the 7th-8th WR or OL in the draft as your first pick, but there's some really good value at other positions. Mostly defensive players though. I see him sticking at 39 and then trading down on 48.
