  1. I think it gets done soon. The best part of this thread is that people are still posting what the "insiders" have to say about the trade when ALL evidence points to the fact that the insiders have as much inside knowledge of the O's as Ronny Woo Woo has of the Cubs. I think people just take what they're saying too seriously. They do have "contacts", it's just that they're unreliable. That Peace dude's "guy" works in the same agency as Bedard's agent, so what he hears is most likely stuff that's just filtered down. The problem is that people hear it and take it as fact.
  2. A .750 ops split is not good. Not really, but it's a lot better than what the Cubs have currently. Is there anybody currently available that could consistently give the Cubs better? Monroe hits lefites better than Payton does. Just because a guy is slightly better than what we currently have doesn't make it okay to trade for him. Paying a guy 5 million for a poor split is unacceptable.
  3. Stop with the Bruce talk. The Reds aren't trading him for anybody, much less Joe Blaton. The Reds are the ones that cut off talsk with the Orioles when they insisted on Bruce in a Bedard deal. Bruce won't be traded. As far as Blaton, I hope the Reds trade for him. Blanton's numbers away from oakland are miserable, and him playing half his game at the GAB sounds like fun for other team's involved. Pitcher's that have recently left Oakland don't exactly have a history of success either.
  4. I usually try not to get caught up in random unsubstantiated message board rumors, but at this point, why the hell not? This from bigbird Although I take no stock in this, just for argument's sake, that is way too [expletive] much to give up for a player we don't need.
  5. If you think Jeff Francoeur is one of the worst RF in baseball....remind me to never take anything you say serious again. Yeah, pretty ridiculous.
  6. That would certainly make Pie expendable in the eyes of the Cubs' brass. I don't care for Pie, but if the possible acquisition of Coco I Dropped The Soap! Cirsp making anybody "expendible" in the Cubs eyes, we're in big trouble. I'd rather have Pie starting than Crisp without question. We are talking about a fast guy who steals bases and plays awesome defense at an up-the-middle position. Of course Hendry and Lou are going to love him. And I'm sure the Cubs will try to teach him to switch hit. First of all, Crisp already is a switch hitter, and if he wasn't, you don't "teach" a guy to switch hit at 28 years old. Anyways his defense hasn't been all that great until this season, and his bat is non-existant. The dude is worthless.

  8. It was a very poor draft pick. Off topic, but hell this whole thread is. Where does your user name come from? The dark passenger won't let me answer that.
  9. Wait. You sayin' yet another Cubs top pick has been wasted? I wouldn't call it "wasted" if we end up trading him for a tangible asset like Roberts. :D I'd say that makes it an even bigger waste.
  10. Not an insider, some guy who is making sure to preface everything by saying it's probably false. His post started out with this: That "some guy" is supposedly Roy Firestone... though considering how much trouble he has not sounding like a 13 year old, I sincerely doubt it is. I'm pretty sure that's actually Roy Firestone. His typing is pretty poor though.
  11. No, and I don't understand why people keep saying that. I've listened to the interview and he never said that.
  12. I don't really understand that statement. Wouldn't those 2 be the same thing?
  13. Yeah, well I think it's funny that you think you know for sure what would happen. We don't know. I've heard that Hendry and Lou want to move Soriano down as well. Nobody knows for sure what they'd do.
  14. I only see one sucker lined up. As for examples, the Renteria one is one that clearly showed this is a stupid deal. Renteria has produced offense at a greater rate than Roberts the last two years. He plays shortstop, a more important position, shortstop vs. second base is like comparing left field vs. center field, and Renteria wasn't caught lying about using steroids. This is crap. You know damn well if a Cubs player was caught using steroids we'd have to sell him for a quarter of the price. But Roberts, no, it's supposed to be like nothing happened, and our price is so fair, no other GM wants to get in on a deal for this magnificent, magnificent player? No way. Look at what the Twins traded originally to get Luis Castillo. Roberts' package = way more. Second base offense does not come at a premium. If you look at what All-Star 2b have been traded for lately, it's nothing like the Roberts' deals. Why don't we factor in Roberts' 2nd half was more like his career numbers, like people do with Eric Byrnes's 2007? This is stupid. There is no reason to trade more for a lesser player at a lesser position. Are you "andyprattisnotsogood", or do you just steal his material?
  15. I think the Pie stuff is all a bunch of garbage. Rosenthal mentioned it and then all of a sudden everyone else started copying him. I don't know what's more ridiculous, the prospect of trading Pie and Gallagher for Brian Roberts, or the fact that a lot of people on orioleshangout.com wouldn't like thar return. Hilarious.
  16. No. That insider's (Peace21, I think) source is Erik Bedard's agent. I'm not sure his "source" is actually Mark Pieper (Bedard's agent). I think it might just be someone that works in the same agency or something.
  17. Some people actually think Pierre is good? Wow.
