  1. By the way, here's the key line in that paragraph..... Dude just wants hits on the website.
  2. There's no doubt in my mind that Bedard still ends up in Seattle.
  3. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7726024/Source:-M's-deal-for-Bedard-on-hold Wow. I almost hope this is true just so I can watch that organization continue to fail.
  4. Adam Jones hasn't even left Venezuela. http://www.komoradio.com/marinersradio/shannon/14571602.html Hilarious.
  5. What's so spectacular about Petco Park exactly? I understand it is a big major league park. So how does that effect Greene's OBP exactly? One can argue that it helps it, and one can argue it hurts it. Obviously his HR's will be effected. So he'll probably hit more somewhere else, but a lot of you guys believe Figgins had a fluke year, so why couldn't Greene have had a fluke year in HR's? He only had 15 HR's each of the 3 years before last years 27. Since the park is big I think there would be more open grass for base hits to land, therefore his average should go up. And OBP wouldnt be any different than batting average in a different park because walks have nothing to do with the size of the park. Either you are not reading or are intentionally obtuse. The post to which you are referring is talking about the differences in SLG. Theriot>/ = Greene OBP Green>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Theriot SLG Advantage Greene He says Greene's OBP would be between .320-.340 if he wasnt in Petco, why would it go up so much not being in Petco? How is that hard for you to understand? Seriously, it's not difficult. Oh by the way, in 1028 major league at-bats away from Petco, his OBP is .335.
  6. paper...no, plastic....no, paper.... wait, plastic....i mean paper.....
  7. The second guy is probably a starting pitcher.
  8. You guys are making too big of a deal out of that article.
  9. And the Cubs management must agree with me That pretty much confirms that you're wrong.
  10. Theriot is not impatient. He just isnt a good hitter yet. It is not impatient when you take the first pitch down the middle, take the 2nd pitch down the middle, then are forced to hit the 3rd pitch down the middle or you'd strike out. They know he is not a power threat so they give him lots of pitches to hit, but if you have 2 strikes you need to swing at the 3rd one. Isn't a good hitter yet? Dude is 28. And please spare me the "it was his first full year in the major garbage. He's never going to hit.
  11. Nobody is saying Cedeno is good. Him and Theriot are both terrible. At least Cedeno has an, albeit slim, chance to improve. Theriot is absolutely worthless. The problem is, he can't hir righties. He never could in the minors either, so much so that they tried to turn him into a switch hitter. That obviously didn't work so they scrapped the idea. Now he's in the majors and gues what? He still can't hit righties. He's not a patient hitter. Stop coming up with excuses why the stats are wrong. They aren't wrong. Theriot doesn't get on base, doesn't hit for average, doesn't hit for power, and doesn't play good defense. He's fast and that's about it. I like the the way Theriot plays and I think he's a good guy, but it's pretty obvious that he's just not that good. Theriot won't make it through this season as the starting shortstop.
  12. Plus Theriot brings a lot more to the table than Cedeno. 10x better plate discipline. Umm, Theriot led the team in 1 pitch outs. Which player faced more pitches per AB? Cedeno. P/PA: Cedeno: 3.68 Theriot: 3.53 Theriot is a very patient hitter, one of the only few on the Cubs. It's just when he swung at a ball, he didn't miss it often like most of the other Cubs, so his pitches per at bat were less. Seriously, are you actually saying these things? This has to be a joke.
  13. Plus Theriot brings a lot more to the table than Cedeno. 10x better plate discipline. Umm, Theriot led the team in 1 pitch outs. If that is true than I would be completely shocked. Because everytime I saw him bat he would be taking pitches till the count was full. That might be true but I still bet his pitches per at bat was more than most on the team. Not only did Theriot lead the team in 1st pitch outs, but he was dead last in pitches per plate appearance among Cubs players with 200 or more at-bats. He's literally the exact opposite of what you said. Yep...it is the "grit & hustle" of players like Theriot that blinds many to the truths of what they actually do production-wise... Guess many fans just like the romantic notion of a gym rat-type of guy making it in the bigs. Yup, and if that's what they want to do, then fine. Me? I want to win.

  16. Dude, what are you talking about? Marmol's value is not higher than Hill's or Bedard's. Not even close. That trade proposal of yours would be a gigantic disaster. Are you really getting fooled this easily by Bedard's 2007 season? He's good, but not that good. Hill is locked up for cheap. Bedard is expensive and only under contract for 2 more years. Not to mention he's almost 29 and has yet to pitch 200 innings in a season. Is Bedard better than Hill? Yes. Is he so much better that we offer a ridiculous package like that? Not even close. What are we giving up exactly? Sorry I used "we".... What are the Cubs giving up exactly? I think Hill will be a good major leaguer, but he is already 27-28 years old so he isn't really young. Pie is the only other player in the deal who might be worth something to the Cubs but based on what I've seen from him, he really could be another Corey Patterson and "the cubs" might be better off just signing Lofton or putting Fukudome in CF and DeRosa in RF. Pie can be replaced easily. That being said, the rest in my offered trade are just garbage and will never have an impact on the Cubs. Cedeno? Theriot will play over him for the next few years, Theriot brings more to the table than Cedeno. Murton? Where whould he play? Patterson? They say he was the worst defensive 2B in all of baseball. Dempster is getting booed out of Wrigley every night, and people are still complaining about drafting Colvin so early. You have to give up some to get some. I actually think the trade would be something like Hill, Pie, Gallagher, Murton, Cedeno, Dempster, Patterson for Bedard and Roberts. And you guys wouldn't want that? None of those guys will turn out to be stars like Bedard and Roberts. Gallagher, Murton and Cedeno for Roberts is a steal for us...... Hill, Pie, Patterson, and Dempster for Bedard? In my opinion that is a steal for us as well. The package they are getting from Seattle could be better than that. Sorry I dont wanna argue about this anymore. It is my opinion that Bedard is a ridiculously good pitcher and doesnt compare to Hill. And I think that Marmol being a lot younger and could start for us if we chose would be a better starter than Hill and will soon be a stud closer is more valuable than Hill. Just my opinion.... anyways, the Mariners have Bedard and hopefully we can throw some type of Gallagher, Murton, Cedeno, Dempster package for Roberts and Payton. But... sigh. No, never mind. It's just not worth it. Exactly. I was about to reply to him but then realized how ridiculous it was. Some people just don't understand that every player has value. Just because some players don't fit into our plans, doesn't mean that it's okay to just give them away recklessly. People also seem to completely forget about how important cost-controlled years are when building a team. Trading Hill in a package for Bedard would be useless.
  17. I really don't even see the point in discussing Santana and the Cubs. Even if we did have what it takes to get him (which I highly doubt, even though some people seem to think every team is dazzled by quantity as opposed to quality when trading a big name player), we wouldn't be able to lock him up with the ownership transition. For one, there's lots of talk that Santana won't accept a trade unless he can agree to an extension with the team getting him first. Let's put that aisde for a second, just for argument's sake. You really want to gvie up Pie, Marshall, Mamol, and Hill for a one year rental? I don't think much of Marshall or Pie, but that would be an atrocious trade. The odds are that we still wouldn't win this year. Then he leaves (which you know he will, because we can't outbid the Yankees) and look at the team we're stuck with. A team that isn't competing for anything anytime soon. I think that's a terrible way to a run a team, and a great way to kill an organization for years.

  19. Not if they're getting Jones, Clement, Tillman and Truinfel for Bedard. There's no way that's the package. Jones and Tillman will be in it. I'd be very surprised if Clement was in it, and shocked if Triunfel was. Both of them together? Not a chance.
