  1. I didn't see that one but I did find this similar one from Rosenthal-

  3. It seriously is a huge embarrassment for everyone involved that Volquez was 4th in votes. How does this go overlooked? It's bad enough that some of the moron voters made the mistake, but how could they not have been corrected and told that they need to change their votes? For this mistake to make it all the way to the official press releases is pretty bad.
  4. I'd say even if he was a crappy catcher he'd deserve it over Votto. Isn't Votto pretty bad defensively anyways?
  5. No, I didn't ask about those questions specifically though. It sounded to me like it was Cubs/Padres with only Peavy coming to the Cubs, but as I said I didn't ask too many questions, I didn't even get into names going from the Cubs to the Padres. Okay..I'll bite. Did he say when he expected a deal to actually get done? Tomorrow? This week? I feel stupid
  6. Don't you think it's a bit early to be complaining about a lack of action? It's November 10th and we're talking about a top 5 pitcher. How long have the rumors even been around so far? 2 weeks? I think that's a bit different than a trade for a second baseman that went deep into spring training.
  7. Yep, as inferred, you wouldn't believe it. does his name rhyme with Shmim Shmendry
  8. I hate my thought process when it comes to the Cubs. I know I shouldn't ever believe anybody on an internet message board when they say they have a "source" (no offense DonnieD, but when it involves something good possibly happening for the Cubs I always talk myself into believing it could be legit. Anybody know anything aobut DonnieD?
  9. Yeah, setupid Nats trying to get better. What are they thinking, right?
  10. Combining that logic with last year's thread, we should have signed Brian Robert's 8000 times. Considering the fact that Roberts himself said that he was told he was on his way to Chicago at one point (by his agent, I believe), I am pretty sure there was fire. Not to mention the fact that the Cubs were trying to adjust their lineup at the end of spring training for Roberts's "imminent" arrival. No, I am pretty sure that was all BigBird or Peace or Belkast or someone. Roberts agent was the one to come out with the quote: "If Brian Roberts has been traded to Chicago, this is the first we've heard of it". Not saying there wasn't any smoke though. No, Roberts definitely said it later on sometime during the season.
  11. Combining that logic with last year's thread, we should have signed Brian Robert's 8000 times. Brian Roberts was a free agent last offseason?
  12. Well everybody thought the Roberts trade would go down...even Roberts was told. You're right though, this should all be taken lightly because things always change. Yeah, no one should be held accountable for the Roberts fiasco. That deal was done, and done, and done again. Well, I think there is one guy hwo should be held accountable. Of course MacPhail will deny that though
  13. Well it's going right along with what Olney just said. And Olney's track record should tell you he's wrong, so what does that say about Churchills info? I suspect that you're only saying Olney's track record is bad because you don't like what he's saying. The reality is that most of these guys are wrong a lot because they predict so many things and write so many articles. When multiple people are hearing the same thing (and I highly doub Churchill is piggy backing Olney) that's when I tend to start paying attention. You can believe what you want about this Churchill guy, I don't really care, but don't act like he's just blwing smoke up my ass for no reason. He's been right in the past so he's not making it up. That doesn't mean he can't be wrong. Thease guys are wrong all the time. I wasn't acting like he was blowing smoke up your 4th point of contact for no reason. You were acting like Olney's report had any significance on the note you got, and it didn't, which is all I was saying. You're being waaay to sensitive. Don't get mad just because we don't want to put too much stock into your source at this time on this one issue. my "source"? He's a guy with a website who I e-mail sometimes. You could do the same. I never said he's right, all I said is that he's not making it up. You were the one who proclaimed that Olney was surely wrong. I never said anybody was surely right. Neither of us know for sure what's up.. you're the opnly one that claimed you did. Did you even bother reading the post you just replied to? Umm, yeah... that's why everything I said related to it. Apparently you didn't. Whatever, I don't care.

  15. That's all I'm saying. Things/rumors could still change in an instant...I just don't like the way it looksl ike things are heading.

  17. He's already available. Actually they're trying to trade him.
  18. Oh man, I'd love to see the Orioles lose Teixeira to the Nats.
  19. I'd start him, but if he performs like he did last season I could see him not being a starter. I've liked him for awhile and I think he'll rebound, but he was pretty awful last year.
  20. If we don't get Peavy, a deal for Hermida and Olson could end up being a good deal depending on the cost. Take Olsen and flip him to the O's in a deal for BRob. Assuming Pie and Cedeno would be part of a trade: 1B - Lee 2B - BRob SS - Theriot 3B - ARam LF - Soriano CF - Fukudome/Johnson RF - Hermida/Derosa C - Soto Bench: Johnson/Fukudome, Fontenot, Hoffpair, Derosa/Hermida, MI sub, Blanco/Hill MacPhail said Roberts isn't available. They're trying to lock him up.

  22. IMO, I don't think the Peavy to the Braves deal is as close as Churchill is claiming. I think this is Churchill trying to excite Braves fans into buying the newpaper that has his article. What article? He didn't write that on a website.... he e-mailed it to me because I ask him about Cubs stuff a lot. Anyways, if that was his motive wouldn't he want to excite Cubs fans instead of Braves fans? Which proves my post in that what he wrote to you is pure rumor and can't really substantiate it and was just giving you an opinion based on what is already out there. So unless Churchill works for the Braves or have a source inside the organization ( ) all he is doing is reciting his own opinion. Where did I say it wasn't rumor? Of course it's rumor. It's not just his opinion though, he has a contact in the Cubs FO (which is why I e-mail him in the first place) and he has e-mailed me things h'es heard in the past before I read it anywhere else and has been right. He's not just guessing or sharing his opinions. You can be skeptical of how reliable his info is, but he def. hears it from someone. The fact that Olney just said the Braves and Pads have made progress coupled with what Churchill told me leads me to believe that there's probably some truth to it. Obviously it's just rumors at this point, so there's no need for the eye rolling.
