  1. I have a feeling that if Hendry gave Wood 4/40 and he got hurt sometime next year you'd be trashing him for giving out such a ridiculous contract to a reliever who was almost guaranteed to get injured.
  2. I have a feeling you're only looking at ERA. Kevin Gregg really isn't very good. He's a mediocre reliever who is going to make millions next season. How is he better than Michael Wuertz? Also yuou seem to be forgetting that Ceda's value to the Cubs is not just what he can contribute to our team. He has trade value and we just wasted it on a guy who isn't an upgrade to a lot of guys we already have. Where is Ceda's trade value? And what other stats are you evaluating Gregg on? I am not disagreeing with you, I am just wanting to know. What do you mean by "where is Ceda's trade value"? I don't understand that question. As for Gregg, you can simply look at his stats yourself. He's basically Michael Wuertz. He walks a ton of guys and gives up a lot of baserunners. He's another "hold your breath" reliever. We have enough of those already and they don't make as much as he will this season.
  3. A lot of the people who are bitching aobut this are the same people who say how stupid it is to give out huge contracts to relievers. Letting Wood go was the right move. We can't give him 40 mil for 4 years and then pray that he doesn't get hurt (when we all know that he most likely will). It's just not the best for the team. It sucks, but it was a good move by Jim. I'm not even really upset. I like kerry but come on, we've dealth with him not being on the team for months at a time so we should be used to him not being around. I think sometimes Kerry is loved too much.

  5. With the way Hendry just came out and said Wood is gone, I think it's pretty obvious that Gregg is staying.
  6. Who would have ever thought that both Prior and Wood would both be gone by 2009?
  7. People really need to stop suggesting this as a possiblility. The Padres don't want a 5M mediocrity as their closer. So Hendry sees Gregg as a solid reliever for the price who has closed for two years but people around the league wouldnt? I have a really hard time believing that. The Cubs are competing next year. The Padres are not. Pretty simple.
  8. People are calling Hendry an idiot for trading Ceda for Kevin effing Gregg
  9. great deal if that's all they gave up. KW has gotten killed with the Swisher thing
  10. This is going to piss me off so much more when we give Dempster 4 years 55 million I never relly thought Wood would leave
  11. Okay, but that still doesn't explain why hendry is trading decent prospects for crappy and expensive relievers.
  12. Wait, what? First of all, Churchill is not "my boy". He told me something and I posted it here. The reason I believed it at the time was because it was matching up with what Buster Olney had just reported. Not once did I ever say that what he says is always true. I wanted everyone to buy into his info? What the hell? I posted what he said, then people got all pissed and trashed it because they didn't like it...so I said that he's been right in the past. That's all. Second, I never proclaimed that this trade had no chance of happening. I said I ddidn't think it will happen, and I still think it probably won't. That doesn't mean I don't think there's still a good chance that it does happen. You don't see the difference? "Hey do you think the Cubs will get Peavy?". "I hope, but probably not." "Then why are you even posting in here and hoping it happens! You just said it's impossible!" You don't see the problem with what you're saying?
  13. Hitting is by far the most important aspect of any postition player, so there's no distinction there. But it's not the only thing. You don't think a "good" player with below average defense could become a "very good" player with elite defense? not a freaking 1b. Okay, do defense shouldn't be accounted for at all just because he's a 1B? That's basically what you're saying right now. So Jason Giambi and Derrek Lee put up identical numbers next season. By your logic they should both be rated equally even though when is great defensively and one is a nightmare. Nice. someone needs a nap. What is your deal? We're having a conversation and then when you can't defend yourself anymore you change the subject and act like I'm pissy? Kind of interesting.
  14. No pics yet. I may not have to. I did offer a secondary source with time stamped information that corroborates my story and goes into a little more detail. I'm not sure if he used that or just read my story and took that for what it is worth (admittedly not very much, unless you just believe me). You said a few days ago you'd tell us the full story on Friday is nothing had materialized by then. Is that still true?
  15. Because I'm posting on the internet.....just like you are.... got it.
  16. Well he said he had pictures so I assumed he'd send one and Raisin would at least be able to tell if he actually had a legit source.
  17. Donnie, did you send a picture to Raisin?
  18. So basically the "PMing a mod so he can vouch for me" idea did absolutely nothing. Sweet.
  19. time of the month?? ? Nothing I said was hostile or with anger, so if you're taking it that way then that's your problem.
  20. Hitting is by far the most important aspect of any postition player, so there's no distinction there. But it's not the only thing. You don't think a "good" player with below average defense could become a "very good" player with elite defense? not a freaking 1b. By your logic they should both be rated equally even though when is great defensively and one is a nightmare. Nice. Not accounting at all is not the same thing as hitting being the most important thing for a 1b. And Lee is nearly as good defensively as his reputation suggests. Ok, so if a guy with average defense is considered "good", then what would that same guy be considered with very good defense?
  21. At the same time, why trade for Gregg now with Wood still potentially in the fold? Could have traded for him after it was determined Wood would not be back. Why not package Ceda and other prospects for Hermida instead? Something doesn't make sense about this unless it's leading to another trade. And nobody likes making 3 and 4 team trades more than Hendry. It still doesn't make sense to me either. It feels like Hendry has already conceded that he won't re-sign Wood. Is it because he doesn't want to, or is it because he feels strongly that he's going to get certain otehr players and won't be able to afford him?
  22. Explain to me how Kevin Gregg is better than Michael Wuertz.
